I hail all gurus contributing to this forum - FOF2, WanajO, Napolean,this guru is after my heart, Windy, Yodiyokun, Roughcut, easimoni, Frankiri, etc., etc. You guys are too much.

Still have about 20 pages to catch up on - if I am silent, it simply because I am listening. We could help by limiting non-too-essential posts. Hmmm, Loma is okay!!!

On Universal insurance, well I saw the PP document and was not impressed at all. It was done @ N0.95. I heard on posted it here on Friday on the plan for listing @ N1.85. It closed today @ N1.94. With the volume and quantity traded on the first day it is a sign that somethings don't add up. I will advice all to threak carefully. Got some 2m units (not in my name though), but will be sold at the first opportunity. For me, it is a WHACK company.

You want to factor this in also:

Where are the GRA areas of Ikorodu located. How much is land there? Can I still buy directly from government?
Business / Re: Cyber Cafe Business by nypurr(m): 1:35pm On Jan 20, 2008
@esilove.

You want to be careful about cybercafe business.
I ran it for almost 3 years and I closed shop.

Your main challenges will be:
NEPA/PHCN and your need for generator and cost of fuel - that was my biggest challenge
Fraud by your customers/ staff in collusion
Competition from upstarts who are ready to put money in the business simply because they see volume ( browsers coming in and out) without finding out if you really make profit - and then cause you dilution of market - they will probably crash before you do, but new ones will replace them.
You need also to be aware that elements of law enforcement agencies will try to make money out of you, claiming there are cases of 419 emanating from your cafe
Lastly many ISPs will cheat you on bandwidth.

I discovered I have more peace of mind after closing shop and I am making more money out of stocks than I projected I would make from the cybercafe.

Knowing also you are setting up in PHC, I suspect you will likely get problems from community boys.

If you are still intent on setting up, you can contact me for cheap fairly used monitors, PCs and UPSs

I live in Port Harcourt. How do I get the CD and how do I pay you.

Also in what format are the books on CD? pdf?
Business / Re: Fbn Return Money by nypurr(m): 1:02pm On Jan 20, 2008
You need to contact the receiving agent (bank or stockbroker) where you submitted your application. I am sure they have your money by now.
In my own case, the money was paid into my account with my stockbroker. In my wife's instance, she collected the cheque at the bank where she submitted her application

@fatherOF2

It’s great being on good terms with your 'personal' broker, if he returns your friendship. Still I will be careful any day. Why? A few good examples:
1. the day I was to pick my first stocks with my broker, he suggested AP. This was June 2001 and AP was in the news then regarding the 12B Naira it was owing NNPC – I guess he thought I was ignorant of that fact. Yours truly, as green as I was, knew there was no way AP was going to declare any profit in the next five years and I said so.
2. I remember his counterpart in the same office was buying GUINN on credit into my account without buying instructions and I had to write him a stiff letter with a threat to take it up at higher level before he sold to regularise. That was in Dec 2004, with price at 105 Naira. GUINN later went down as low as 62Naira. – It wasn’t a bonus price adjustment.
My real worry is with broker companies that are bad corporate-wise, then friendly broker or not you can’t get it right
I will listen to my broker any day for tips and all that, but what is shocking is that you get to arrive at the same conclusion if they come positive and you are perplexed when he veers away from ‘common sense’.

@ gonziiii

You want to watch out – if your broker starts seeing you as a guru, some will react by keeping you at arms length, and then you get almost nothing out of him.

@ pennywise

Couldn’t put it better

Ask the beneficiary to get the swift code and any other required info from his GTB officer on dom accts or from customer services.

@2gd

I have read the nightmare members have faced with some stockbrokers and I have had my own share with my initial broker ,CSL (and still having to date).
I think you will be happy with Lead Capital. I started using them in Jan 2006 and I am quite happy with them.
Their good points?
You can give your order on e-mail - a website Job Order Entry form has never worked for me.
They will normally start buying within the day if you submit your request before 0900hrs and complete buying within 48hrs. Of course, if a stock is scarce, it may take longer, or you get none at all e.g. I'll be glad to buy BIGTREAT now but it is not available.
I have sold stock with LeadCap within the day.
Their staff are always courteous, give or take a few unanswered phone rings.
Surprise, surprise, I get my certificates verified and lodged with CSCS in record time - some within one month.

As some peeps have observed in this forum, do not rely on your broker on stocks to buy - reasons vary for this, but none is helpful to you. Some suggested buys will simply be treacherous.

What certificates I could not verify with CSL within 2years are being verified by LeadCap in 1 to 2 months.

Wish you luck.

@ all members.
It's my first post, but I have been an avid reader since hitting the forum a month ago, almost addicted, if I am capable of such vice. Compliments of the season wink wink
Properties / Re: Cost Of Borehole Drilling In Lagos by nypurr(m): 9:29pm On Dec 18, 2007
Unfortunately, I do not live in Lagos.
I live on the outskirts of Port Harcourt and I drilled a borehole this time last year for =N=120,000.00. The cost is very related to the formation - is the area is rocky it will cost you more than if it is largely sandy.
