My junior brother 6-month UK visa just expired. He got the visa in May this year and he used it once that same month. He was in UK for 5 night in May for vacation.

I don't want to mislead him because he asked me if he can apply for renewal now.

His next vacation is in March next year and he will like to travel to visit UK again.

He wants to know if he can apply for renewal now or not (6-month / 2-year)
Gurus in the house I need your advice

Good morning house and a special thank you to all the gurus in the house.

From my personal experience since his next vacation is in March of next year, why can’t he wait within 3 months of his intended date of traveling before applying.

He can apply in January,2020 and go for 2 years.

I got my first UK visa October,2019 and expired in April of this year and i applied for 2 years in August because my traveling date was October which was given.
In my own case, i used the same documents because my status did not change.

Hello everyone & @BizBloke @giselle237 @justwise

Like some of you here already know, I was refused a visa early last month, for the reasons highlighted below. (sorry, was unable to upload the letter, but these are the exact transcripts from the letter.)

**You have applied to visit the UK for 7 days for tourism. In order to be able to to make a decision on whether or not to grant you entry clearance in this category I have taken into account your stated circumstances in Nigeria, the reasons for your visit and your proposed travel arrangements.

**You have declared that you are employed and state that you earn 300,000 NGN (£672.05 Converted on Oanda.com, 05/09/2019) per month. You state that you spend 160,00 NGN (£358.43) per month on living costs. You state that your trip to the UK will cost 1,000,000.00 NGN (£2,240.17) which equates to over 7 months disposable income on a 7 days trip. Your proposed expenditure of your visit casts doubt on your intentions to visit the UK.

I made some important mistakes, thanks to the agent who assisted me with the application.
Now I am ready to reapply this month, and have a few questions and things to clarify, if you all don't mind.

1. My living expenses was stated as N160, 000 per month. Which is not a true reflection of my consistent monthly expenses. That figure was the estimated average of the amount that left my account the 6 months before my application, which contains loans to friends/family, one-time purchases of things like electronics etc. I am thinking of reducing my monthly living expenses to 80k-90k (keep in mind that I have a dependent that I give 5k per week) on my new application.

2. Aside my monthly 300k salary, I have a side income (amount not fixed) but has been consistent for a few years. The average amount of the last 6 months is 178k. This side income wasn't acknowledged in the decision to refuse my visa. What can I do to change that?

3. I am about to pay my rent, is that going to be a problem? Being that I will be spending a decent amount for my rent and at the same time willing to spend good money on a trip abroad?

4. What would be a reasonable amount to budget for the trip? I plan on spending 6 days, 5 days in London and 1 in Manchester for a football game.

Your help and guidance will be greatly helpful to me. Thanks
The agent messed up the application considering the fact he stated your 160k as monthly expenses leaving you with a balance of 140k and you intend to spend 1m for a 6 days trip.

1. Reduce your monthly expenses to 40k-50k

2. You must show evidence of side business if
You want to add it as additional income

3. That should not be a problem because it strengthen your ties to your home country in as much your balance can support your trip. Mind you , you should have excess above your trip budget as at the time of application.

4. Reasonable amount is 500k

5. Book hostels instead of hotels. It reduces your cost.

They wonder why he is deciding to attend a conference in the UK when he hasnt attended such in Nigeria before or any other developing nations... why must he come to uk for conference and more so when he has not submitted proof as to how and why this conference is so fantastically needed to him/his career.
Every other thin they wrote in the visa refusal letter is self explanatory. If his other 3 refusals from UK were not applied for on conference basis and he now changed to conference in this application that is also a red signal for desperation.
If this is his 4th refusal, let him leave dem alone please for now. He is viewed as a potential overstayer according to this letter.
Thank you so much for the reply and explanation. Considering his last application was in 2015 which is like 4 years gap before this and he has been able to tackle their previous excuses based on proving other sources of income despite he is a state government employee .

My pain is the explanation that gave for refusal does not hold water because he is someone that travelled to italy and comes back, has like 2 landed properties which he showed evidence and also a letter from his professional body that he is eligible to participate in the conference.

Anyways he has reapply immediately to tackle all their excuses because he has attended many conferences locally and has travel history to a scheghen state.
I will share the outcome on this platform

Please guru in the house, help me analyse this refusal letter.
He has travelled to italy for World urban conference in 2012 which he attached the evidence and didnt overstay his visa.

Although he has beed refused 3 times based on financial ground which he was able to tackle this time around.

Mind you he paid for the conference already & booked 5 days for hotel

Hello Good day. Please i need help with my UK Visa Application and this is my situation. please please take time out to read my long inquiry because its really bothering me.

I'm a first time visa applicant ( first time travelling) and this is my situation.
I applied for a 6 months visit visa and got declined. i received my passport on the 26th of september 2019. reason for refusal is that i indicated on my form that i will be contributing 200k and my sponsor ( my sister will be contributing 300k) my salary is 183,000 monthly and i also indicated on my form that my monthly expense is 150,000 ( this is not an exact figure, i actually dont track my monthly expenses because i live with my parents who take are of the bills and the only thing i spend money on is my car service maintenance and personal girly maintenance) I'm 34 years old and single. My visa was refused because my bank statement wasn't a true reflection of my financial circumstances according to ECO. I presented my Salary account just to show my salary monthly payment and my sister ( works with Goldman Sacks London as a permanent employee, almost 1 year spent so far) mentioned that she will be responsible for my trip in the invitation letter. I'm about to reapply in one week and these are the list of documents i want to present this time.
1. Cover letter refering to the previous refusal and explaining relevant documents.
2. my employment letter as well as other letters showing the different roles and responsibilities i have handled and salary increments ( i have worked with my organization for 6 years). Letter of introduction from my company and work ID.
3. picture evidence of myself and family members here in Nigeria to show ties, consent letter from my Dad to travel, our land use charge, showing owner occupied property.
4. My sister's bank statement, Pay slips, employment letter, tenancy agreement, residence permit, well explained letter of invitation.

This time i intend to completely remove my bank statements and make my sister the sole sponsor. please remember that she has a good job, although she paid out 5k pounds in august from her account which would be returned soon. does she have to explain this lodgement as a sponsor? please are these documents sufficient enough to procure a 6 months visit visa? also can i reapply again on the 8 of october 2019? is it to soon?.
From your explanation you messed the application by saying your monthly expenditure is 150k out of salary of 183k as a single person.(80 GBP is reasonable as monthly expediture)

33k X 6 is not up to 200k that you wanted to support yourself with. They believe you should have excess to take care of you after the travelling expenses

On the issue of removing your statement of account when reapplying is not advisable. You must demonstrate you have money to take care of you despite your sister is sponsoring you.

From the intended documents you want to submit, you dont have a strong tie in Nigeria because the landed property belongs to your dad not you. The only tie is your job

My advise is for you to take your time and build your account
