Mofolam: I’m confused why people are complaining about lack of shift or jobs. I may be wrong but I think the problem is either they don’t drive, have a car or have license. Shift yakpa for where I dey. But only if you are mobile. Things I did that I think helped ; get a car with insurance, get ur int driving license before leaving , most imp before u leave get used to road signs and driving instructions via the gov.uk site. If possible pay the £15 hazard perception multi trial test. Then Watch tons of YouTube vid on how to pass the test. Hopefully this helps someone. God bless you about this statement. I think it has to do with people trying to stay close to major cities like London,Manchester and the rest. |

Ceejay2: Good day house,
Please those of your planning to come over please and please plan yourselves very well.
Youkay here, no one will accommodate and feed you. Family members can only do little highest do it for 2 months and throw you out las last.
Please are suffering here, no job oo if your employer promises you a job, make sure it's certain o or else na street you go sleep o. If you and your family are coming over pls and pls hold plenty money, money that can last your guys for at least 3 months plus before you settle.
No body dey give anybody money for here o the only think they can give is advice and help not money.
If you are couple with no kids, shared apartment will be okay for you budget 600-800£ bills inclusive and depends on location. If you are with children, studio apartments or 1-2 bedroom will be okay but excluding bills. Rent per month arroud 800-1300£ depends on the location. Bill like Gas/Electric, water and council tax maybe around 300-400£ depends on the location.
Furthermore, no house agent would rent a house for anyone just coming in even with your 3-4 month payslip. The best bet any off license shops, you can ask or tell the shop owners that you just came in and have been staying in an Airbnb for like 2-3 months that they should help you with any landlord they know so you can rent. Or better still if you have a relative, brother, etc that has rented their own, they can help you rent yours with their details.
The Sim card they gave you at TLS you can activate it the next day or at the arrival airport. It's free for the first month and next month you get 50% off.
If you are staying in the city, first bus is the best for your mobility. Try using your Google maps to navigate your location. Bus fare 2£ per adult on trip. Day adult tickets is 6£, ticket for group 6 ppl 12£ per day. When you download the first bus App you will see all tickets prices
When you get here, first open monzo bank use your brp under 7 days your day will be delivered to you. It's the card you will use to activate the account. Or you can try Revolt they card for card delivery. Also open any high street bank like Lloyds bank, you will open the account on the web then take your brp to any of their branch for activation. Their card is free and would be sent to your address within 7 days.
Please note: coming down here, money is the most important thing to carry or hold. UK government no send anyone here if not you will suffer.
I will advice carry enough food that will last at least 5-6 months o, this is no joke. Those things you deprive yourself from eating or buying in Nigeria here you will buy it's x2 or x3.
Not that I'm trying to scare anyone, it's my own experience.
Please watch the video below. That's exactly what's going on now in the UK.
If your employee sponsored you here, then you don't have a problem o.
Watch and learn.

Acquiredollars: Just been cautious sir, in a strange land, I just feel I should go first..... From experience of so many people & personal experience is better for a partner to go first & prepare the ground for the family just like 2 to 3 months especially with the issue of getting accomodation. But if you have a place you know you will be accommodated & there will not be problem for like 2 months before getting your apartment no wahala. All in all, take enough money with you because you wont start shift immediately because of DBS certificate & training. Any decision you take, dont leave your family in Nigeria for 1 year. |

advanceDNA: Lol...the guy don tire for failed applications... he doesnt want to be optimistic again but also want others to not be optimistic together with him... I think he is saying this from his own point of view but not to discourage others. The truth is experience is the best teacher but last last things everybody will be alright. The naked truth is once you enter youkay,it might be rough at the beginning for few months if you dont come with enough raba to start with especially with these useless agents that issue CoS with promise of work after collecting huge raba and ended up not giving you shift . That is the norms now whether we like it or not because i'm still battling this issue. Imagine bringing in over 15 people from different African countries(Nigerians inclusive) and telling them that you are still looking for contract to sign to give them shift after they have all been in the youkay for close to 2 months. It is well. People that come in and start work immediately find it eazy in youkay and will never complain at all. |

Canva1405: Sorry about that. You posted weeks ago about your employer issuing a maintenance letter to you and as well ticking YES for the maintenance part on the COS. Does it not cover Accommodation for you?. I'm asking cos my Employer ticked Yes for me and I am not budgeting for AirBnB so I can prepare for unforeseen circumstances. The maintenance letter was meant for visa application alone.we have been informed earlier that we will sort out our accomodation by ourselves. But you can ask your employer if they will provide accomodation for you |

I arrived UK 2 days ago through heathrow Airport with my wife (MA) & 2 children. The officer only asked the MA why came to UK & she said work. She collected our visas & stamped us in.
While a lady we landed together was asked to show evidences of her work.According to her,she showed them all the mails/correspondence between her & the employer. They even have to call the employer to confirm her identity before she was stamped in.
Moral of the story is always have your work application evidence, employment or offer letter,,CoS printed or in soft copy incase they ask for it at POE.
For those that get their CoS through agents ,always insist they follow the application procedure before issuing CoS & give you the evidences. Because some agents will give you CoS after 2 or 3 days after reaching agreement with them( you all know what i mean by agreement).
Thank you everyone for the advice & words of encouragement |

The maintenance letter says the company will take care of MA & Dependants accommodation for one month. Once maintenance is ticked in CoS,it covers the whole family if they apply at the same time. I believed the letter is just to drive the point home that they are providing accomodation for everyone not just the main applicant because some ECO behaves somehow. |

Ceejay2: Well depends on the IM officer you are assigned to. I just got in through Gatwick today and I didn't even spend upto 2mins with the IM officer.
1st question..is this your first time in the UK, Me..yes 2nd. What's the name of the company and Where in the UK are you going Me...told him 3rd..bla bla bla Me.. I just said No 4th. What job Me..health care worker He now said that's what I asked earlier and you said No. Me.. Oh sorry I didn't hear that very well 5th..Do you know where to pick up your brp Me. Yes and told him He, ok ok please place your right thumb, index on there after which he stamped me in.
Before then there's this Nigeria guy on another IM officer Booth, didn't know what they asked him at first he showed them the Cos print out and one Lagos State letterhead paper, heard him saying...it's from lagos State government with a high tone. I pray they let him in because he's probably not answering the question.
See my ppl It's all by God's grace and mercy and also pray that you meet someone that will favor you. I didn't take out any paper from my folder because I had them printed out just in case. It's just God's Mercy.
I don read tire all the likely POE questions people pasted here even the work address I store am for head.
Please when booking flights check the nearest airport to your destination, not because everyone is going to Heathrow, you too won follow, Heathrow might not favour you. If they don't ask for your cos print out don't give it they don't even need it for anything.
Thanks and God bless. God bless you for this reply. The land will favour you IJN |

Onyxunlimited: You're doing well, honourable. If this was done in a WhatsApp group, I wouldn't have gotten the wealth of information I got from you. Truly, nothing beats experience. You won't believe the amount of rubbish I got online while trying to get genuine information concerning study in Finland.
Sir please I have a question. I read online that as a permanent resident of Finland, tuition is free. I also read that one can apply for permanent residence after 4 years of stay Now, I want to go through this vocational study route that takes 3 years to finish. If I stay back and work for another year, does that amount to 4 years? Would I be eligible to apply for permanent residence by then? I also read that if one comes in via study visa, the years taken to study would not be out in consideration when one wants to apply for permanent residence. That is, they won't count the years one had study visa but would count from the years one has work visa. How true is this, Sir?
Please, what are the other ways to get permanent residence in Finland?
Thanks for all you do. The number of years you used in studying will count towards your permanent residence. Like i always tell people,i got to know more about Finland because i have 3 biological siblings that travelled there through school route. |
