Please i need your advise on my application... i will like to go for a vacation with my wife.
i work with the Government and earn 108,000 monthly and also have a registered business with a good inflow and outflow savings account statement of about 3M balance. my wife also own a registered business but i will be sponsoring the trip. HOW DO I GO ABOUT THIS?

i think we should download the application for and teach ourselves how to fill it and the type of documents to support each lines we fill.

i can see that alot of people not on this forum do shot themselves on there legs with what they fill and there doxuments presented.

an agent told one of my guy that he should be running his acount which is good and he adviced him to be lodging big and withdrawing big so as to convince the eco that he is a business man with no evidence of using dt big withdrawal for good bought (receipt or lpo)....i told him you might fumble by doing this, he never heeded to my advice and the agent even follow him up to the entrance in november, he got his passport back this morning, what was inside was nothing to write home about cos i am seeing something like MISREPRESENTATION BLA BLA BLA BLA....im afraid id they havent ban him.

so im of the opinion if we can bring up the application form and teach ourselves how to fill it correctly and the docs too.

Pls house a colleague filled his application but chose No in the travel history question " have you been to anyother country in the last 10 years" and he has been to Ghana on a couple of times with the history on his passport.

Can they hold this oversight against his application?

Good day @Justwise & all the gurus helping people on this thread, please I have a question o.
I did biometrics on the 5th of Dec, application transferred to DMC same day & application receipt acknowledgement on the 11th Dec.
I got a call from the home office in London on the 19th from a UK phone number, the guy said he tried calling my HR office to confirm my work documents which I submitted but the line ain’t going through & requested that I give him alternate numbers to call which I gave him & also told him to keep trying the number in my application form & that the number is correct, he asked me to call it out & I did. I also told him that my company has its head office in London & that he can also double check the authenticity of my docs from them. He told me that’s a great idea. Please is this a good or bad sign? I have never read on this thread that Visa Officers call applicants for such.

What I’m afraid of is that i get tensed or agitated when I’m being asked questions. Its just my nature but nevertheless i will try my best to be calm when answering questions. Thanks.
Also in my application i said I didn’t have any relation in the UK but my sister is picking me up at the airpot. I hope this won’t be an issue when asked who’s picking me up and the relationship between me and the person.

My inlaw was denied tourist Canada Visa a month or two ago, and he's including it in his UK visa application?
Is it okay, or should he remove that detail?

That is obviously not true, a budget of 10 days is not the same as a budget of 15days, stating that you are going to stay 10days and given a visa and you went ahead to book a flight a return ticket for 15days is an issue.

Luckily you haven't paid the price yet but many have because its misrepresentation.

Please for God sake, don't try this. I did same but when I got to Heathrow's airport, I had issues and was on the next flight to Nigeria.

I also have a question bothering hotel reservation. I have made a booking for 6 days.I intend to cancel the booking after visa application and get a hotel on arrival.hope this won't affect my visa processes and also hope this won't have a negative effect at POE.

During my visa application , I stated I'm staying for 10days but now i intend staying for 15days. Hope that won't cause a problem at the port of entry ?? Also is a most that I use the same hotel I filled in my application form ? Also should i enter tru Heathrow or Gatwick airport?? Pls advice

This isn't a general assertion. 5 years visa can also be granted to first timers. I believe 10 years is also possible.

Dear Justwise and other Gurus in the house.

Pardon me for my lengthy narration. I am part of a project execution in my office and as such, were told to go on annual leave early this year so as to achieve the project's goals. 

I applied for a Visa last year with my family but was refused, applied personally in December based on the office project and was issued successfully. In my preparation, I moved funds to my GBP account but with 40 pounds cash with me when I got to Heathrow's airport because I don't want to be moving cash around since I have paid for my hostel and trains within London ahead while in Nigeria. I have evidences of the train tickets with me.

However, in March this year when I got to Heathrow's airport, the border officer complained that the cash I had with me was too small. I showed him the funds in my various accounts even with my GBP account but was denied entering. My office in Nigeria was contacted to confirm the veracity of my status and also my contact in the UK. The major reasons were:
1) I have 40 pounds sterling with me, paid for 7 days hostel but have a return ticket of 12 days

2) I said I am seeing my contact in the UK.

I was told I have to be detained of for investigation but have the option to appeal but will take 28 WORKING DAYS to complete. In order not to jeopardise my project work in Nigeria and lose my job, I opted to fly back home immediately.

Before leaving, my Visa was CANCELLED on the spot.

I later appealed the cancellation in Nigeria and the decision was neither rejected nor accepted with a condition that I should have appealed in the UK. Even the appeal fee was refunded. I want to apply for visa in January to visit during Easter period and will state all the incidences with appropriate references. I have a printed statement of account for the GBP as at then and the response I got when I appealed the decision.

Can I go ahead to apply and hope this will not be seen as a sort of desperation?

I have been a silent follower, I got most of the information I used here, I never asked any question.
I want to thank everyone who contributed to positively to this forum..there are regular names like Justwise, Giselle , thank u so much, I pray God will grant ur heart desires.

Now my case was almost hopeless, I have a divorce case going On, my former husband filed for divorce, fortunately for me I met my old lover who travelled to the UK and we started where we stopped. Now he is my Fiance, we are getting married in Nigeria early next year but he wanted me to spend Christmas holiday with him in the UK, I was not sure it would work cos I work in a school and earn 40k only and out of that salary, my daughter's school will be deducted every month, so I have like 20k left .so my Fiance sent me invitation letter that he will sponsor my trip, he sent his ILE, council tax, letter from employer, pay slips, statement of account that enters debit at the end of the month, so I didn't put much hope that I would be given visa coupled with the fact that a lady with a similar case was rejected 2 weeks ago, I was expecting rejection letter today but I didn't see any, opened the passport and saw 6 months visa.
I writing my story here to encourage someone like me . Thanks and nice weekend

Please, I need your advice I got my 6-month visa this year expire next year Jan with me saying I do not have any family member in the Uk and i spent Just 10day as indicated when making the application. my question now is I want to process for 2 years and my inlaw want to invite myself and hubby will this be an issue for me since my first application was not with the invitation letter

Bro. One cannot just reduce. He has to state anything as it reflects in his bank statement. I think his disposal income is ok as it is more than twice the stated budget.

Okay. You just allayed my fears. Thanks a lot. Also, I earn 300k, monthly expenses is 70k. My trip is for 7 days. Budget is 391k. Was able to get cheap flight (not yet paid, for 218k), hostel accommodation for 40k.. The balance is for living costs. What's your take, please?

Hello all,
I applied for UK visa last year for a training for work and I was granted visa. I traveled for the course and got back then traveled few months to the UK again on holidays before the VISA got expired. I was in Finland this same year for a short training, then got a Turkish visa as I traveled though Turkey. I have done 2 west African countries after I got back from Finland/Turkey.
Now I am applying for 2years UK VISA and I dont know if its a good idea.

Thanks boss. When you returned your passport, how long did they take to return it to you with the 2 year visa? I commend your courage as well for returning the 6 months visa. I know most Nigerians feel visa application is sort of like a lottery/achievement and the officials are gods. No they aren't. Yes, in some cases you may seem to have provided all the documents required and you can still be refused if some things do not add up but all in all. If there's paper trail for all the funds in your accounts and you don't appear to be desperate whether wittingly or unwittingly, they will grant the visa (well, except in cases such as mine where they refused because they didn't check properly).



However, they mailed me again this morning with a robust apology that the presiding officer misinterpreted the documents I provided so the ECM had another ECO review it and my visa has now been granted. But I don't know how long it will take before they return my passport.

Not all refused visas actually do not have merit.
The ECOs are humans and I lowkey feel their job is to deny not grant visas from Nigeria.
When I posted my refusal decision, "gurus" on here (no offence) were asking me to not complain but wait a while till my circumstances change. Nothing needed to possibly change as I had good standings based on their rules. I am pretty certain there would have been a lot of people refused under similar circumstances to mine. Complaint is not an issue especially since it is a paid service.
To avoid everyone complaining, it's best they sit up and do their work to the letter.
I had an Australia visit visa refused in May, I couldn't complain because they refused based on facts. This UK refusal was based on laziness on the part of the ECO. I attached 50 supporting documents and could tell she probably checked two or three. Hence, I had grounds to complain. Who knows if he/she has refused thousands of other people by not checking their application thoroughly? They are not gods abeg. Even if everyone starts to complain, it's as simple as them taking a look and seeing if the complaints had merit. If not, they will probably uphold it.

I want to commend your courage for challenging the status quo. I did something similar which i shared here a while ago. Although i started following Nairaland like 2 months ago.

I applied for UK 2 years and i was given 6 months visa. People were like i should not complain that many people have been denied and i should count myself lucky(Not on this platform tho)
I lodged a complained that i need explanation why i was given 6 months instead of 2 years. I got an apology letter that i should return my passport which i did and got my 2 years visa.

This was in early october,2019. I have travelled and now back in Nigeria .

Another issue bothering my mind is people have been advising others to spend no of days stated on their application after been issued visa.

I started in my application last year that i will spend 5 days and ended spending 10 days due to sightseeing although i left the second day the conference ended.

Spending additional 3-5 days is not a bad idea in as much as your return ticket covers that but anything over that is not advisable.

Has anyone seen a refusal letter based on spending more days than what you stated in-your previous application?
