eph12: he had bayindir, Amass, Collyer, Kone and Maguire on the bench. Who should he have brought it to stay up front and deal with crosses into the box?
This thread is one of the problems of the Super Eagles. Some of you hype players like Chukwueze as if they were Lionel Messi, raising expectations to unrealistic heights based on false beliefs, only to be disappointed when reality sets in.
To be fair, Chelle seems like a good coach. Tactically, he appears competent enough to take us to the next level. Blaming the NFF? Well, they are always the scapegoats, rather than addressing the overhyped players.
As for the names most of you are mentioning as "missing," they wouldn’t make much of a difference. This is the same way 99% of players were hyped before their invitations and integration into the squad.
Did they play like there was anything at stake? How many clear chances and opportunities were missed? Are we really going to pin all of this on Chelle or the NFF again?
They’ve been tagged as Vibes FC, and they own it with their full chest, yet we somehow want to believe they’re still good enough to represent the Green and White.
It’s time to give local players a chance to shine. Remo Stars or their feeders team, Beyond Limits, would destroy Zimbabwe with ease.
Chukwueze is completely a waste in the first half. Iwobi also seems not adapting to the tactics. He ought to play 10, connecting midfield to attack but he didn't do it well in the first half.
Mujtahida: Sadiq does not. We can stretch it however we want but he does not deserve to be called. The fact that he's consistently getting invites means he's got a godfather or he's the quota candidate.
When I say that list has quota, I'm not being flippant and I rarely indulge in such sentimental talk. Go and watch Eagles tracker video on YouTube where Layi Smith speaking about the list, said that a top official of NFF told him that they have to 'balance' things. Not that that was what made me say it's quota list, but it reinforced my belief.
.......but Boniface deserves it right?! Sadiq has done more for Green White Green than Boniface - this is a fact. If like of Chukwueze is making the List, then Sadiq deserves and earns the call-up too.
iamharkinwaley: 🚨 Dermot Mee (22) is set to make his Manchester United debut and start against Leicester City tonight. André Onana is ill. [@sully_sayz]
Can someone please confirm this
......much likely cos Onana is facing late fitness test.
afrodoc2: Firstly, he will be 20 before the new salary kicks in.
Secondly, we all agreed that it is too much. But the way to buttress that is not by comparing Mainoo to an 18yr old defender with minimal hype and little or no pedigree.
The way to pull down Mainoo’s demands is by comparing him with Amad, Garnacho, Yoro.
Especially Amad. That is the stick to beat Kobbie’s demands down with. Not with using a 1m pound 18yr old CB.
......I understand your points sha, but at 18 Mainoo was earning £10k per week. It was obvious the club was mismanaged and I am glad INEOS are reforming the club.
afrodoc2: He has started settling in but I think he is probably still at least a year away from getting a real chance. Bruno, Mainoo, Ugarte, Collyer are ahead of him and even if we offload Case and Eriksen we are likely to get another senior CM in.
You should look more to the RWB position were both Kamason and Mantato are viable potential options for next season.
.......I like Mainoo but if he insists on the nonsense demand, he should be sold. We’ve got Kone to cover for him.
Meanwhile, wetin be nonsense Chelsea want do?! Freedom Fighter must be bought o.
.......unpopular, kinda ridiculous, opinion; I think Mason will play well as one of the 10s. He has the energy, tenacity, agility and creativity to perform better.
Cvxxx: Una sure say Anthony go gree come back so?. Man is having the time of his life in betis.
.......I am really happy for him and hope he keeps shushing us at United. Betis shouldn't be unfortunate at end of season sha, €70m should be made available to seal the deal permanently.
.......una too dey complain sha. What is difference between NFF and most folks here by the way?! Una dey complain the list no dey ok and would definitely influenced it if had the power.
Make una allow the Coach do his job! He knows Nigerians, he knows what is at stake! He toured round the world to see some of the players in actions. He watched some local matches as well hence made his choices.
Let's allow him to breathe, all that matters is 6pts!
Sir Jim Ratcliffe:“It’s more than a new stadium. Everyone knows the Eiffel Tower, everyone wants to visit. Everyone in the world will want to come visit this stadium.”
Ronald Koeman on not picking Joshua Zirkzee for the Netherlands squad:
"He wasn’t in the preliminary selection because I don’t think he’s good enough at the moment. Especially scanning when turning or passing often goes wrong.
Yes, in principle form and fitness are always leading, but that is not always possible. We have a lot of central defenders and midfielders, but we are somewhat limited up front.
But even then, I still think that you have to earn your selection, and I think he doesn’t deserve that now, but that could be the case again in another period."
.....according to some folks here, Amorim is considered a Iron Bender hence should be moulding the players to top players. That is his JOB!
"He was very clear with us. Ruben told us, 'This is how the team is going to play. I'm going to stick to my principles.' I think that's what we want, which is a coach who has a clear vision. A coach who can work with Jason Wilcox to identify the types of players for the system and the style of play that Ruben is trying to implement."
Case fuckin close! If you ain't ok with it, go join Ipswich. LOL!
Sir Jim Ratcliffe: “We are in the process of change and it's an uncomfortable period and disruptive and I do feel sympathy with the fans. The simple answer is the club runs out of money at Christmas if we don't do those things.”
Sir Jim Ratcliffe says young talents such as Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho will not be up for sale just to bring in finances:
“No no. We won't be selling players because of the state we are in financially.
"The club had got bloated so we reduced that and will finish it with a lean and efficient organisation. That's how we will address the costs. The player decisions will all be focused on how we are going to improve performance. That's all.”
