I am trying to understand why a dubai firm would be buying oil from another country, when their own nation has massive oil reserves.

Add to that dubai is a wealthy Arab Muslim country entering into a deal with poor infidel niggers who split from a Muslim country that is now in turmoil.

I am wondering what their actual angle is in all this
grin

Abu Dhabi get massive oil reserves not Dubai Ẹ̀gbọ́n mi.

Anyway, back to this and the bolded cos its a major risk and its really important that we are told.

Cos I once read somewhere that the Lagos state government had to pay off the owners of the Lekki toll gate post End Sars.

Imagine a similar agreement/scenario here. Such huge liability. Maybe that's even be the (planned) payoff for these guys.

Oasis, tell your guys to give full info/disclosure so there may be small confidence
.....I can't give details now, but gonna tag you once I get more details.

In other words, they were the (only) ones that submitted the proposal/proposition.

Answer my question on the bidding process.

Also the reason why I am a bit hesitant to criticize the govt so much on this is cos its a private entity that is funding a majority portion of this expense

The general consensus in the emerging markets investment community is that there are not that many bankable projects so if there's one that allows them to deploy. Why not?. You cant force private investors to invest in other things/sectors/areas. They must have been convinced that there's enough ROI there before deploying their capital. As long as there's growth potential and economic viablity, so be it.

But lets scrutinize the terms of the contract/agreement oo...Cos P&ID is still a recent memory
......Umahi has addressed it many times. Below is extracted from a major news source;

The minister of works, David Umahi has cleared the air on the funding and bidding process of the Lagos-Calabar highway, stating that the project is not under private-public partnership process but under an EPC plus F project which requires the Federal Government of Nigeria to pay a negotiated counterpart fund.

.....they forget there is a new Sherriff in town. When Fashola shutdown 3MB for repair under last Administration, nothing significant was achieved like what Umahi does to the Bridge within 6 Months under present Administration.

Wike is turning Abuja to Abu Dhabi gradually. Constructions left and right like it was last witnessed when El Rufai was FCT Minister.

This Administration can do it, and it will do it

Ok.

I have a bit of confidence since AFDB is part of the funding parties. They usually have a long list of standard requirements before they drop funds
grin

......ignore their Noise bro, that's what they've got to offer for the next 8yrs.

On the funding structure, Mr Umahi said the project is not a PPP but rather an Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC+) structure, which means that the federal government must produce counterpart funding.

He stated that the negotiations are ongoing regarding FG’s counterpart funding, which he projected would be between 15 and 30 per cent.
You can watch below clip for further breakdown of the project.

Ancillary revenue @ bolded. Ok.

Again, this is more of the concern of the funding parties not the FG. Maybe he's just speaking on the economic viability.

Anyway, let them provide more detailed info, lets scrutinize
.......two months ago.

More insights;

Concerning the financing of the coastal highway, Umahi said it is envisioned to attract various investors, with Hi-tech Construction Nigeria Limited leading the initiative.

Discussions and collaborations with Hi-tech, alongside the Honourable Minister of Finance and the Coordinating Minister of the Economy, are anticipated to further the project’s development, he added.

In his remarks, Salawo, the spokesperson for the African Development Bank (AfDB) team, emphasized the bank’s commitment to aiding the economic growth and social advancement of its member countries. He assured robust support for the Federal Government of Nigeria, highlighting the bank’s readiness to provide both technical and financial assistance for road infrastructure development.
The project ain't just dropped from heaven suddenly, its well planned and communicated to the masses.

Its propaganda as usual to our noisy guys until Landmark Owner started emotional blackmailing on Twitter [X]. Most of them wailing here ain't doing so coz they genuinely care, rather because FG is reclaiming the Shoreline which rightfully belong to them along the corridor, and which Landmark is partially affected.

Note; Landmark Building ain't demolished, rather an extension to the beach like the pool and berbecue joint.

20 years is quite short oo. Means a likely high toll rate/fee.

20 years from the concession date or from the completion date?
"Let me leave out the infrastructure along the corridor. Let me just concentrate on the tolls and I put 50,000 vehicles as an average passage on these toll points per day.

“I put ₦3,000 as an average cost. ₦3,000 because the cars could be like ₦1,500, and the big trucks could be like ₦5,000. “So, we put an average. In 15 years, you make back the money.

“At every point of tolling, we also have toll station where we have a kind of relief activities — restaurants, filling stations, parking lots, and so on and so forth. So, people will now have confidence. In these sections, we intend to put CCTV all through."

The questions I have on the project, Not sure I can get it online. If anyone can help I'll be glad

Funding Structure - That huge commitment from a private entity can only mean one thing??

Is it gonna be tolled? what tolling strategy will be adopted

Is it a concession and for how long?

What protection ad guarantee structure is in place if and should there be a change in govt?

What are the terms of force majeure in the agreement?
......its gonna be tolled and maintained for 20yrs by the Contractor.

......for clarity sake, the coastal road project is being built on EPC + F model.. Engineering, Procurement, Construction + Finance model. Government counter-fund is 30% while the Contractor [Hightech] is responsible for 70%.

After completion, it will be tolled, hence not a must for every motorist to go through it to their respective destinations.

FG ain't gonna fund it 100%, hence ain't paying ₦15T fot the project, rather ₦4.5T for 700km of Road across coastal line.
