JustMellow: Hello OB411,
There is nothing wrong stating your mum is a retiree and providing evidence to back your claims, and at the same time saying she runs a business. This goes a long way to show how solidly (economically) established she is, depending on how well your narrate or explain the story.
If the CAC document isn't available, the tax clearance, other government monthly or yearly revenue payment etc, purchase or sales receipt, contract or agreement document etc can go a mile to prove the legitimacy of the business.
Lastly, her personal BS will suffice for your/the sponsorship purpose.
Good luck! Thanks buddy! |

bazzyblings: Like I said everyone has the right to learn new things , so please don’t respond by first saying am asking a stupid question .. you don’t even know who you’re talking to .. I am not even in the Nigeria you are ... please for clarity .. if you can’t answer pass .. I don’t know why Nigerians are full of hate , pain and anger ... go abroad bro .. so you see how the whites respond ... to even the most stupid questions ... I would always say , Nigeria is cursed because of Nigerians .. not the leaders Frankly I thought his response to your question was rather harsh, at the same time I just felt it was coming from a place of 'students who are not genuine spoiling it for others', so cut him some slack. Don't take it to heart and I personally don't think any question is stupid, in your case I see sincerity of purpose most people mask their true intentions with schooling. That said, study permit is solely for study purposes, after which you are allowed to work legally otherwise you 'll create avoidable problems for yourself in future (I am not talking from experience but research) Why not try Express Entry, it seems to be what you want. Bless you! |

Please can someone advise on what I should do.
My sponsor(mum), retired civil servant who now earns a pension and runs her own business. The business is not registered yet, it brings in good money, evident in her personal statement of account.
I was thinking when I present her as my sponsor to the embassy, its make better sense to say she's a business woman as opposed to a retired civil servant, which might have them(VO) thinking why she would want to incur such expenses at this stage as a retiree.
Can I say she is a business person and just tender her personal bank statement, even without a corporate bank statement/registered business document, or just leave her status as retired civil servant.
Responses would really be appreciated.
Thanks. |

Hello house, greetings!
Looking to apply for a tourist visa to the US by Feb next year (2020)and have only travelled to Egypt. Would my trip to Egypt count towards travel history or is it grouped with other travel destinations that are not considered, when assessing travel history by the VO.
Thanks. |

Jephehe: SAD NEWS!!!
It was hard for me to say bye to Mr Peter who came to Canada 2013 on study visa and Returning to Naija where Buha is in charge on Aug 2 with DP status.
Peter was kind to me when all effort to change my campus proved abortive, with him I met the President of the School. Peter arrived Canada and forget to follow up his studies and fake friends advised him to seek for Refugee status, which did not go through he used all his life lines including judiciary refusing to hear the case, no one went through till he was issued Pre-Removal Order was issued to him. The last line he used took him up to the minister of immigration and he refused to get involved. The only thing he is hanging his hope on is to marry a Canadian but still no way to get a legal stay. During this struggle he was working in big companies which he saved some change that he travelled with to hell no Naija.
Abeg my brothers and Sisters make una learn from this summarized story of Peter because of time for my break I cut cut the story but just learn your lessons.
Please write wetin you learn.
Make i go continue my hustle.
Greetings from Ontario,
Greetings to Baba Buha,
I wish all approval. If you ever get an opportunity like this. D O N T_B L O W_I T! There might be an explaination for his decision though, but with an ending like this everybody would assume he failed to use the best option and followed bad advise. Some people think its better not to test the good life at all, than to test it and lose it for good. May the God of many chances provide a better opportunity. God bless all hopeful. Another Lesson Learned ! |

JustMellow: If you don't pay, your sit might be given to someone else and maybe put you on a waitlist or give you a refund. If you're really interested in going to the school, kindly pay the balance tuition fees as requested by the school to avoid story that touches. Since there is a delay from IRCC, making plans to defer and getting a new admission letter is very important.
BTW hope you've check with the school or website to know about their refund policy.
Good luck! Thanks, at this point I ll just start processing a new admission for winter 2020. I hope it doesnt affect my current application though. I really dont see IRCC meeting up for Sept 3rd. |

I applied July 2 and application is currently on eligibility review and background check, from the way response has been so damn slow from CIC I am considering deferring till next academic calender, cos my school has prompted me to pay up tuition balance.
Dont know if it advisable to go that route though. School is suppose to resume sep 3rd. |

sillysassysally: Hi Everyone,
I want to start by sincerely apologizing for going MIA since I got here. Life happened so fast and it didn't help that I didn't have a laptop. I have only just started settling down after all the hassle.
Landing gist... It was pretty straightforward and didn't take time. The only question I remember the border official asking me was which school I was going to and what program. Then, of course, I was asked to show my correspondence letter and CAQ.
Canada... I am currently attending McGill University so I'm quite comfortable speaking about Montreal. 1. French everywhere! I was so surprised - even my youtube ads changed to french! Better to start learning french to optimize your experience but if you don't speak French, it's still fine because most people are bilingual. 2. Beautiful city... people say its the best city to jaiye in Canada because things are always happening! I think last week was about Real Madrid (they are in Canada for a tour), then the week before that was jazz festival week... Needless to say, its a really fun city!
Myths people have about Canada 1. People tend to believe that once they leave Naija, they'll begin to live their best lives... It's not really true - especially if you don't have money. Since I got here, I've actually battled depression because my school work is so tedious, i don't even think I'll be able to work part-time to cover my living expenses. If you are doing a one-year program, it's possible that your schedule would be as rigorous because for most masters in Canada, its usually two years so you can imagine the "rushing" they do for one-year programs. So with no time to work, and with steady expenses, you can imagine the stress I've been going through just merely thinking about my situation. Here's my advice to those planning to come to Canada, if you cannot afford living expenses and you plan to work part-time to cover your living costs, please do a two-year program. That way, you'll have more time to spare to work and it'll be reasonable for you to work and still have enough time to commit to your academics. 2. Taxes here in Montreal are a freaking 15%! I bought my laptop and paid taxes of $114! Needless to say, buy your laptop before coming.
Things i'm grateful i did before coming here 1. I'm grateful I packed garri, indomie, etc because when you come here, expenses and bills would hit you like a hurricane - especially in the first few weeks where you have to start paying for a phone plan, rent, bus pass, feeding, etc. Im grateful for the many things i didn't have to buy because i already brought them from Nigeria - I even carried toothpaste, cream, perfume, etc. Once you come here, you'll have a lot of expenses to make that you'd be super grateful if you already have some little things sorted out.
I'm happy to answer any questions anyone has for me.
Goodluck to all TRV hopefuls, University admission hopefuls and GRE/GMAT hopefuls You are highly appreciated my dear. As a sharp babe that you are, I trust you ll find a way around all the wahala. Bonjour. |

Alday: Thanks. My LOE/SOP was 4 pages and I treated all the points you attached in a numbered list especially on academic progression, career relationship and Canada vs Nigeria choice aside other home ties, police, (passed) Medicals slip and numbered list of all submitted documents (expenses budget estimate from school, receipts plus all other documents). I even included SOA ticket numbers. Am no guru though, take my advise with a pinch of salt. Sorry about the refusal. I think the VO must have thought your cgpa was good enough to secure an admission into a direct Msc program, I share the same sentiments as well hence the rejection based on purpose of visit. I also think you stand a better chance of getting an approval if you reapply to study a Masters related degree which shows career progression. Others might have something to add, my 2cents. All the best in your next application. |
