Put in your application with the old PP, you can always renew your PP and extend your SP in Canada.
Thanks.

My passport expires 10th November and I have already applied for a renewal.

Can I put in my reapplication for study permit with current passport as I await the renewed one or do I have to wait till new passport is out before putting the application in?

School resumes sep 3rd.

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

Hello house.

Success to all TRV hopefuls.

I will be putting in my application again next week without much help from my gcms notes as it was blank.

I hope to have adequately tackled reasons for refusal on grounds of purpose of visit, home ties & travel history.

@Frankrobbn1 I'll appreciate if you can take a look at what I have put togethet (LOE) to see if its good enough or any other guru in the house availabe @Qudkom @Bracha ... I understand everybody is busy.

Thanks and God bless everyone selflessly helping to increase the success story out here.

One love!

You may want to check again o.... I remember when I got my gcms note. It was about 44pages. You might want to make sure of that... However, if that is all that there is with your gcms note, then apparently this CIC people aren't being diligent with the processes.
I have checked properly, no information at all.

Really confusing.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by OB411(m): 5:32pm On Jun 13, 2019
My gcms notes just arrived, I have looked through very carefully and it has no detail concerning the rejection. Chai after all the wait.

It's 27 pages and I have checked several times, nowhere did I find any useful info. Is this normal?

At this point I have to go ahead and apply with the generic reasons I was rejected for in the hopes that I have tackled the VO's concerns.

Reasons for rejection:

1 purpose of visit
2 Family ties within Canada & Ccountry of Residence
3 Travel history.

Documents I submitted in my initial application.

All CIC forms
SOP
Employment letter
Introduction letter from employer (acknowledging study intention)
Pay stubs
Admission letter & Confirmation letter
Letter of sponsorship-Mum
Deed Gift ( N6M) from sponsor (Mum) held up in treasury bill, invested for over a year maturity June 13 2019.
Statement of acct of sponsor (less than 1M)
Landed property doc of sponsor
House doc of sponsor
Resume
B.Tech Cert (Geophysics)
Transcript
NECO
Nysc
Birth cert
Intl passport (sponsor & I)
Police clearance report
Receipt of initial tuition deposit 1750cad
Provisional Accomodation letter (someone in Canada (non relative) taking up housing burden off me): I hope this didnt backfire.
Course of study Diploma Petroleum Engineering Technology.

Without any useful informatio from the notes, please what can I do differently to increase my chances.

I have written a detailed LOE to tackle these reasons and have as additional document gift deed for a property worth 45M from my Dad to strengthen tie.

I have only visited Egypt as int'l destination out of Nigeria.

All suggestions welcome.

Special thanks to @Frankrobbn1 & @Qudkom for initial contribution to my application.

All suggestions welcome.

Thanks.

Well, lemme just put you through. Firstly, you need to fast and pray for forty days, then visit a River close to you at 00.00am. Do ensure to tie a white wrapper around your waist before entering the River.

On your way home, take a route that goes through any 4 junction.

At the junction, shout "How to apply for an undergraduate program in Canada " 150times. Finally, walk home with your back turn to your direction. Your ancestors/gods of the land would have the answer(s) waiting for you at home.
No nau, he indicated he is new here. Come on!

I see a lot of annoying questions here though but a lot of these new guys dont understand the purpose of this forum, it's not an avenue to dump personal responsibility on another person out of laziness, but still they have to be educated and not ridiculed.

I am sure he got the message that he has to do some research but in a way that might give him/her a bad first impression.

Las las be nice.

Cheers!

Frankrobbn1:
A father has the right to transfer his property to any of his dependents. The deed can be backdated and explanation from the applicant should suffice that the said property has been gifted to him/her in consideration of the love and affection the father has for him/her.

As you suggested that the applicant should claim they have been managing the property, which is also acceptable. Though in this case, a written letter from the family's solicitors should be submitted to support the claims that applicant has long been performing this duties and will not abscond to Canada after studies.
Thanks again @Frankrobbn1, I am opting for the deed which would be back dated. I am just trying to avoid any document that would take to long to be processed and think the deed is a pretty straight forward one.

@Qudkom I am not the only child deserving of my fathers property as you rightly mentioned, he has properties in other states which my other sisters got. It was a verbal pronouncement though and I am just trying to get a document as I forsee it making my application pull through. Thanks also for your response I appreciate your contribution.

Like I earlier mentioned, I hurried my application as a result of a deadline from my school i was trying to meet, which is the reason I omitted that vital information.

However, I have to wait for the gcms notes to seek further advice, for now let me get that document (deed) ready.

Cheers!

Frankrobbn1:
Father should transfer the property and term it a * GIFT DEED* in consideration of the love and affection he has for you and that the gift is irrevocable and have no claim whatsoever on the said gifted property. This document must be certified, signed by witnesses from both parties and must bear an official signature, seal and address of the solicitor that prepared the deed.

Please kindly a minute of your time to read through my previous post, you will find where I discussed HOW YOU CAN CONVINCE THE VISA OFFICER THAT YOU'RE A BONAFIDE APPLICANT with genuine intent to study and depart Canada after authorized visit.

Best of luck
This is very helpful.

Thanks much appreciation.

Hello house greetings to all.

Big ups to all the kind hearted peeps helping to increase the success story.

I need advise on how I can tie my dad's property to me as per home tie to Nigeria. It's a 5bedroom duplex with BQ serving as a rental property.

What document(s) do I have to add to the existing house document to make a strong case.

I was thinking transfer of ownership, then I was thinking maybe I should just say I manage the property for him as his only son.

Let me add I got rejected on the grounds of purpose of visit, home ties to Canada and country of residence and travel history. Looking back my sop was weak seeing all the information out here.

I have already put in for the gcms notes and expecting it by 14th, just preparing the needed document to tackle reason for rejection, which is why I have asked.

Also I have put together a detailed LOE which I will edit guided by the gcms note when it arrives and won't mind if the guru's here can help look at what I have already put together.

@frankrobbn1 @makana @Qudkom anyone available ?

All suggestions welcome.

For those helping out, may God bless you.

Cheers!

Kez911:
No you can not. You need to fill on your system, save, sign with a blue biro, scan back and den u can proceed with the request. But you must have a designated representative as Frank has explained. If not, not sure u can do much of anything
Thanks. I found a way around it, appreciate.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by OB411(m): 6:16am On May 11, 2019
Frankrobbn1:
1. Designated Representative information is for the person in Canada.

2. Applicants information is your information...

You're expected to fill the two sections listed above electronically using your system/desktop, print, sign with a blue pen, scan and send it back to the person to append his/her signature.
Can the consent form be hand filled? I am having problems filling on my system as it doesnot let me save: when I hit the save button a blank pop-up displays making me unable to go beyond that stage and it doesnt save.

So I am thinking, would it be ok to print and fill with a pen instead and then scan to upload.

Thanks.

Hello guys

I earlier mentioned I was called to pick up my processed passport while I had not been called for medicals so to me I assumed it was a refusal.

I was at the centre to pick up my passport and on opening the envelope I saw a slip that said an important mail was sent to my email address and that I should check the spam incase its not in my inbox proper.

Meanwhile the only email I received was the one I mentioned already about notifying me to pick up my processed passport.

No rejection letter and profile on CIC has not been updated as a refusal either.

Anybody with similar experience should help me with next line of action please.

Thanks!

Nairaland Fam!
Thank you all for the congratulatory messages
The past couple of weeks has been an emotional rollercoaster! But knowing that we were all on a similar journey - each one at a different stage - was some sort of comfort.

My Timeline
Applied with upfront medicals – April 14th
Medical Request – May 6th (I was surprised when I got this medical request because I did upfront medicals, so I was wondering why they were still telling me to do medicals). I sent a web form with my e-medical slip attached and I also sent emails to Lagos, London, and Kenya. On May 7th (the day after receiving upfront medicals), I went to the hospital to see the doctor who attended to me and doctor told me that he sent IRCC a message to link my upfront medical ID to my medical request ID.
Medicals passed – May 8th
Correspondence letter and Passport request – May 9th
Overall, my study permit took less than a month to be approved! Specifically, it took 25 days!

Things I believe that worked in my favour
1. The Grace of God that covered all my errors and colored all my efforts.
2. My resumption date (June 17th). I sort of feel that they give priority to people with nearer resumption dates. If you look at the timeline we have, you’d all notice that people resuming closer tend to get their decisions quickly – this does not mean that you should intentionally delay your application. At the end of the day, no one really knows the minds of these VO’s.
3. I have a strong international travel history (USA, UK, Brazil, South Africa, etc)
4. I made my submissions as organized as possible. Infact, I did a table of content for each pdf I merged so that whoever was working on my application would easily understand it.
5. I explained all lump sums with proof… (Sometimes, I see people saying things like “they’ll increase the money in their account from 5 million to 10 million” and I feel this raises eyebrows as it would question whether those funds are really available to the applicant.
6. I wrote a banging SOP… details below
7. I was truthful in my application. I have like 5 half-siblings (one living in the US and one living in the UK). I mentioned all of them in my family information form even though I was scared that it could potentially weaken my home ties.

Things I believe were the weak points of my application and how I addressed them
1. This was what I perceived to be the main weakness of my application. I was using student loans as proof of funds for my tuition. Mind you, these loans were from a reputable and internationally recognized company called Prodigy Finance. I addressed this perceived weakness by using a sponsor who was financially capable of paying off all my loans (even though most of her asset were illiquid (land and truck). Also, I believe I was able to show a strong academic and professional track record that indicated that I was financially capable of personally paying off the loans on an installment basis.
2. The name of my sponsor across all her documents was not consistent because she is a divorcee. I addressed this by submitting an affidavit of change of name with a newspaper publication

My advice to prospective PO’s
The truth is that you have to do the hard work yourself... Even though you can easily get guidance here, you still have a lot of homework to do yourself... Understand your profile – its weakness and its strengths and address them.

Documents I submitted
CAQ (Mandatory for students schooling in Quebec)
CIC Forms
Digital Photo
My passport showing all previous visas and stamps
Proof of upfront medical exam
Evidence of work requirement in study (my program comes with co-op)
Letter of Acceptance (Unconditional – though I sent the conditional one via a web form. I also begged them to process my application speedily considering my close resumption. However, my web form was never acknowledged). The other documents I merged with my Letter of Acceptance includes; acceptance deposit receipt, academic qualification documents (such as my certificate, transcript, WAEC certificate and TOEFL results), professional qualification documents (such as my CFA level 1 badge, letter of introduction from current employer, my bio page on my company’s website, work ID, and letters of employment from internships I had done in the past), then other documents (such as my NYSC certificate and my birth certificate).
Proof of financial support – Prodigy Finance loan of about CAD 36k (30K for school fees and 6k for living expenses), Paid acceptance deposit of CAD 5K, Scholarship of CAD 8.5K, Dorm account statement with living expenses of CAD 11K… These were the funds that were budgeted for my studies. Apart from the aforementioned, I had about NGN 1m in stocks, NGN 100k naira in T-bills, NGN 250k in RSA, and NGN 70K in my salary account – all of which I showed. In addition, my sponsor (who was my mother) also had NGN 1.9m in her account, NGN 5m in T-bills and NGN 4 m in RSA. I also showed my sponsors illiquid assets such as landed property with valuation worth NGN 40m and sponsors business asset ownership (trucks) worth NGN 20m. The essence of all of these other funds and documents was just to show that my sponsor could actually pay off my loan. Someone (an Indian) told me that if I was using loans as proof of funds, it was important to use a sponsor whose financial situation showed that they could handle the loan.
Finally, under client information, I included the birth certificates of my siblings, as well as the international passport data page of my sponsor (mother). I also included a letter and affidavit of sponsorship, Sponsors business certificate of incorporation and memorandum of association, and sponsors affidavit of change of name with newspaper publication. Finally, my “banging” SOP was in this section.

SOP
Unfortunately, I cannot share my SOP on this forum because I don’t want a case of copy and paste. My SOP also contains personal information… Nonetheless, I can share the structure.
- I started out with an Intro about myself, as well as my academic and professional trajectory.
- Then I moved to another paragraph I called “my purpose” where I spoke about my motivation for the course I wanted to do
- Then I moved to another paragraph I called “Why I chose McGill University” where I spoke about why I decided to opt for Mcgill as opposed to other options in Nigeria and in other countries.
- Then I moved to another paragraph called “Justifying the cost of my program”. This was important for me to do because – as I mentioned earlier, I was using student loans to finance my education and my school fees is freaking expensive (CAD $ 47,500) so it was important for me to “justify” the cost of my studies to the VO.
- Then I moved to another paragraph called “Family & Economic ties to Nigeria” where I spoke about my home ties being all my family in Nigeria. I also explained things that would make me return to my home country such as the amazing career I had started in Nigeria (evidenced by all the documents I submitted in my Letter of acceptance. I also spoke about specific things I wanted to use the Msc to achieve in Nigeria.
- Then I moved to another paragraph called “Funds available” where I showed a table of funds I had available.
- Finally, I finished with a section called “My responsibilities as a student” where I explained that I fully understood my responsibilities as an international student in Canada – bounded by the conditions of my student visa and by McGill University. I also wholeheartedly committed to abiding by all the rules and responsibilities that would apply to me as an International student in Canada and at McGill University.
- Then I ended SOP by telling them that their support is very essential to my dreams. I also humbly requested for the issuance of a study permit that was effective on or before the 1st of June 2019, as I wanted to travel to Canada by the 10th of June 2019 to acclimatize and get ready for my schools’ orientation on the 17th of June.

I have gotten so many emails today alone and I’m afraid that I may not be able to reply all in due time, but I would encourage us to share the questions here. There are so many amazing people on this forum that are committed to helping people! Special shout out to all the people doing this! Cc JustMellow, Bracha, etc. I can’t mention you all, but it gives me great joy when I see how selfless you all are to helping out willingly! Only God can reward you all!
On this note, I want to especially thank Frankrobbn1 - this guy is so amazing! He was so interested and committed to helping me that I started to think he was working for IRCC as a spy… I want to also specially thank AAO7 – amazing person! First time I sent her an email, we moved to WhatsApp and chatted all through the night to about 1 am. It was nice having someone to gist with and to both share all the frustrations we faced with the entire process.

Finally, I want to say a word of prayer to all TRV hopefuls…
Dear God,
You are in control of every situation of our lives and you know every one of our needs, as well as the dear desires of our heart.
I pray that in your grace, mercy, favour, and love, you would allow the application of the hopefuls of this thread to be approved quickly and without delay.
Thank You because you are a God who hears and answers the prayers of your children when we come to You with open hands and a humble heart.
I pray in Jesus name, Amen.

IT SHALL END IN PRAISE!

Naijaforeigner:
Your visa can still be approved without the New LOA.

Please I beg you, don't withdraw your application. I read reasons why you want to withdraw. If it is the same UK I once lived and studied, I know for sure that you can get visa approval within 15 days (if you have the money, you will get visa within 5 days or same day) and you can get admission to most schools in UK within 5 days. Infact, their admission and visa process is not stressful because they want your money.

If I were you, I will wait (even if it means me waiting till January next year to study in UK, God forbid, if the Canada visa does not come through) to see what happens with this Canada application. You have waited for 10 months, please see it through. I am positive you will get it.

Is it the same UK that students are looking for ways to run from?
Personally, I will not advise anyone to study in UK, if the plan is to stay back after studies. Staying for 1 year to study in Canada is worth it, yes Canadian visa is worth the wait.

However, if your plan is to study and come back to Naija , then withdraw your application and go to UK. Masters is even 1 year or 16 months in UK.

P.S UK visa is the probably the easiest student visa in the world, you are 90% guaranteed getting it. You can go there anytime.

The decision is yours. God bless.
Good Advice.

Above all i thank God almighty for his favour and grace. I fasted and prayed earnestly, and God almighty manifested .

Hey,

I did an upfront medical examination. Hence, I did the medicals before even submitting my study permit application.
In the case where you've submitted your application and a medicals was requested, I want to assume that they'd give you a certain form that you'd take to the hospital that wouldn't require your physical passport to be shown. However, If you have submitted your application via paper and haven't yet been called for medicals, I don't know how that would be done without a passport. Maybe send IOM/Q-life an email to get more perspective on this?

I did mine at Qlife family clinic. They request for your passport photograph and medical request for those that got it. After that you are called according to how you got there to pay and after that they give 3 tallies that come with different colours:
Tally A- blood test(HIV and syphilis)
Tally B- X-ray(You will enter a room and hug anxray machine to get your chest xray)
Tally C- body vitals; bp, eye sight (bring your glasses if you use one), check your height and weight.

Lastly, you will provide urine sample and see a doctor that will check your eyes, tongue and abdomen. The doctor will also ask about your medicsl history. It is advisable to get there early enough the process takes 3-5hrs. Hope this helps.
Very helpful.

Answers my question perfectly.

To the bolder I keep seeing biometric correspondence letter
Please I am confused I did online application
After I submitted my application I received a letter to go for my biometrics and since then I have gotten any letter regarding biometrics
Is it the letter you take to the vfs office that is called biometric correspondence letter or you will be given another one after completing your biometrics
Also on my profile my biometric information have been updated
Please someone put me through

The correspondence letter referes to the letter updated to your application stating validity of the biometrics: 10 years, also emphasizing you wont have to repeat the process within the 10years validity period if you have to re-apply for a visa to Canada.
