Business20 Black Friday Sales Ideas For Nigerian Businesses In 2023 by Obadeyemi9ja(op):
https://blog.contentkrush.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/2023-Black-Friday-Article-V1-1920x1000.png

Like anywhere in the world, Black Friday sales in Nigeria helps many brands grow revenue and consumer engagement. I’m a living testimony of Nigerians who save all year round in order to go on shopping sprees during Black Friday promo.

This piece will open your eyes to humongous opportunities in leveraging Black Friday to drive awareness, sales, and advocacy for your business, products and services. Also, you will learn about the most searched Black Friday deals in Nigeria as well as brands who have made the biggest Black Friday sales globally.

What's Black Friday?
It is a name popularly adopted for the Friday after Thanksgiving in the United States. Black Friday traditionally marks the start of the Christmas shopping season over there. And as such, brands and businesses offer unusual deals and discounts that motivate consumers to buy in bulk. In some places, it is like clearance sales that are expected at that period of every year.

How did Black Friday sales start?
By popular opinion, the term “Black Friday ” was first used to refer to the day after Thanksgiving by Factory Management and Maintenance journal in November 1951, and again in 1952. It was originally used to describe workers calling in sick on the day after Thanksgiving, in order to have a four-day weekend. This was short lived though as people really didn’t buy into what it meant then.

Around the same time, the terms “Black Friday” and “Black Saturday” were used by the police in Philadelphia and Rochester to describe the crowds and traffic congestion accompanying the start of the Christmas shopping season. The Police in Philadelphia complained about an influx of people coming to the city to shop the day after Thanksgiving, calling it a “Black Friday” because they had to control crowds.

From there, the use of the phrase spread slowly as it also appeared in the New York Times on November 29, 1975. Black Friday was then specifically used to refer to “the busiest shopping and traffic day of the year” in Philadelphia. That was when Black Friday started gaining acceptance as arguably the biggest sales promo of the year.

TV/MoviesRe: Can Nollywood Acts Aki And Paw Paw Make Money From Their Viral Meme Videos?? by Obadeyemi9ja(m): 11:00am On Aug 01, 2019
https://dabzmovies.com/nollywoodmovies/blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/cropped-Aki-and-Pawpaw-movies-feat-image.jpg

Aki and Pawpaw movies are not just funny, they are mostly true reflection of how many of us grew up in different parts of Nigeria.

Despite the funniest movies by the duo were released many years back, some of the most viral skits across social media networks today come from Aki and Pawpaw movies.

One thing most of the new sensational social media comedians miss is jumping on trends or wrapping their materials around things that are not really organic to the socioeconomic situation of everyday Nigerian.

It is hard choosing 5 Aki and Pawpaw moves that are the funniest. But, we will share those we believe every grownup Nigerian can relate with any day anytime.

Come with us…

Aki and Pawpaw Differentiate between Present and Past Tense

Who does not have one or two stories of getting into trouble when asked questions by school teachers? Some teachers could actually turn your classroom to hell for you should you get the answer wrong. Lol.

And then, there are good Samaritans who would whisper the answer or quickly write on a piece of paper for you to save your ego, especially if there was a very fine girl in your class whom your friends knew you were crushing on.

Watch Aki and Pawpaw differentiate between present and past tense.

Aki Asks Why His Father Was Poor

Aki was born by a poor father, so he sat him (Sam Loco) down one day to find out why their family were sinking in poverty.

Sam Loco didn’t help matters. His chief reason for being poor was that his father and grandfather too were poor.

Aki wouldn’t want to grow up in poverty, and as such he had a strong word of advice for his father.

Find out yourself.

CelebritiesRe: Chigurl Finally Opens Up About Her Divorce To Mercy Johnson by Obadeyemi9ja(m): 10:39am On Aug 01, 2019
https://dabzmovies.com/nollywoodmovies/blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/cropped-mercy-johnson-movies-001.jpg

Mercy Johnson movies no doubt has a cult following among Nollywood fans, especially men.

Yes, Nigerian men love to watch her maybe because she's got all the ‘specs’ men look for in African women. Maybe the way she drives home sex appeal intended in romantic scenes and roles given to her.

Well, we will soon find out!

How do you explain the fact that a male fan of hers, knowing fully well that she was happily maaried, ordered for a sex doll made just like her?

To be honest, Mercy Johnson-Okojie has many ardent followers as well as unapologetic fans who lavish their support on her at every opportunity they get.

This is not to place her above other actresses like Patience Ozokwor, Genevieve Nnaji or Omotola Jalade Ekeinde. But, why men fall head over to watch her in movies is why we put this piece together for you.

So, now let's 'x-ray' 5 Mercy Johnson movies that make her the Mercy Johnson that Nigerian men crave to watch.

Mercy Johnson Movies -Royal Pain
Mercy Johnson's mission as a native priestess was to help heal a community plagued by a strange ailment but she had a crush on the prince.

She didn't stop at crushing on the prince, she lured him to bed. And, the finesse with which she transition from asking when she would be taking to see someone to leading the prince to bed is real big something.

Mercy Johnson Movies -Shakira
Majid Michel is one actor who puts so much energy into his movies. In Shakira, you have him lock it down with sexy Mercy Johnson.

The gist about Shakira is that a heartbroken man was on crazy rebound mission during which he encountered a randy married woman (Mercy Johnson).

The sensual exploration in this movie which was aptly displayed by both of them is better not expressed in words..

Mercy Johnson Movies -Caught with Another Woman
Sex scenes can be overly overrated. I can't stop laughing as I watch this romp between Mercy Johnson and Jim Iyke in Caught with Another Woman.

It only goes to show how far she can go to portray the character she takes on. Shoutout to Jim Iyke who also made this look as real as it can be.

Watch merciless Mercy Johnson beg iron man Jim Iyke for more pounding (not yam though.. lol).

Business10 Reasons You Need Buyer Personas For Successful Marketing by Obadeyemi9ja(op): 10:28pm On May 08, 2016
The fear of ignorance is the beginning of success in business. One widely-accepted problem solving technique starts with identifying the problem. As no business can survive without customers, it is a serious challenge for customer service, sales, advertising and marketing to know who their customers are.

Every business, brand, product, service starts out with an ‘arbitrary’ target audience. “As so-so-and-so company, we sell A-B-C. Our target market are men aged 25-45 years, working class who have keen interest in doing this or that. “

So goes the marketing guide many businesses run around with. Now that the consumer behavior has evolved, prospects have incredible research tools accessible even via their mobile phones. Prospects can find out about your product, compare prices with your competition, consider your substitute products or read one or two reviews to justify if they actually should buy at all.

Why then should businesses stick to the cold-calling approach of interrupting strangers with pop-up display ads, intrusive sales pitches via SMS, email marketing when they do not know enough those at the receiving end? This problem of not knowing well enough who you are selling to is not limited to marketing. It is a problem everyone who has interactions with customers in an organization should aim to solve.

For as many who still believe customers buy from them because their product is great, affordable or irreplaceable, market trends and bottom-line will teach them the hard way that customers buy for their own reasons not the sellers’. But those who acknowledge that buying is not logical, it is an emotional decision, what have they done, what are they doing to be able to know these customers well enough to be able to influence their buying decisions?

Imagine a medical doctor who is so used to patients coming to him that by merely looking at them, he could decipher what ailment they suffer and could prescribe correctly what medication they should take. Would you go see such doctor again after the first attempt? Would you be comfortable taking injections, swallowing such prescribed drugs knowing fully well that neither proper diagnosis was done nor any fact-finding test was conducted?

If your sincere answer is NO, why then should you keep pitching prospects without prior knowledge of who they are, how they found your business, what they were looking for when you found them, what problems do they seek to solve daily, what attitude do they have towards what you offer?

Built from the real words of real buyers, a buyer persona tells you what prospective customers are thinking and doing as they weigh their options to address a problem that your company resolves. Much more than a one-dimensional profile of the people you need to influence, or a map of their journey, actionable buyer personas reveal insights about your buyers’ decisions — the specific attitudes, concerns and criteria that drive prospective customers to choose you, your competitor or the status quo.

WHAT IS BUYER PERSONA?

Hubspot describes buyer persona as “a semi-fictional representation of your ideal customer based on market research and real data about your existing customers. When creating your buyer persona(s), consider including customer demographics, behavior patterns, motivations, and goals. The more detailed you are, the better”

Since this gospel is not for traditional or digital marketers only, it will be fair enough to put it the way all stakeholders can relate with. Buyer personas are detailed profiles of whose problems you as a business intend to solve. The inbound way is doing the marketing everybody loves. To borrow a clue from this evolving marketing strategy that aims at converting strangers to promoters of your business by attracting, converting, closing and delighting, every opportunity you have to interact with a customer can only get better when you have at the back of your mind the buyer persona.

That is, as a customer service person, you will easily understand a customer’s perspective, then know how to start a rapport and relate properly with a customer whose profile you are at least familiar with. As a sales guy, creating a relationship with a customer becomes easier when you know typical challenges your prospect faces daily and what primary problem he would like to solve.

As a marketing team, lead generation becomes optimally targeted when you know how best to position your calls-to-action to meet what visitors are looking for. Besides, your lead nurturing messages will be able to hit leads at the point of their needs because lead intelligence has been boosted by a detailed buyer persona. And as an advertising or media sales firm, you know how best to create stories around your offer when you know what stage the audience is in the buyer’s journey.

I KNOW MY TARGET AUDIENCE, WHY CREATE BUYER PERSONAS?

Target audience are a shot in the dark, if I am permitted to put my mind in black and white without painting it. It is buyer persona that states the details of demographic, company, job title, short history, primary problem, secondary problem, typical challenges, concerns, motivations, cliché, and quotes from your ideal prospect, your previous buyer, someone who buys from your competition or a stranger who has apathy towards your business.

Approaching customers whose buyer personas you have read and understood gives you the kind of advantage a guy has when he has already spoken with a lady’s mum or best friend before asking her out. He has her pin code, doesn’t he?
HOW MANY BUYER PERSONAS SHOULD I CREATE?

You could create as many possible, so far they are not lacking in details, thus becoming less effective. Buyer persona helps you create unique experience for a prospect during a sales presentation instead of addressing him as one in a pack of thousand cards.

HOW DO I SOURCE INFORMATION TO CREATE BUYER PERSONAS?

Sources of information for creating buyer persona can be categorized into two: Market Research and Market Reality.

Market Research is the process of collecting data to determine whether a particular product/service will satisfy the needs of your customers. With effective market research, your company can gain invaluable information about your competitors, economic shifts, demographics, the current market trends and the spending traits of your customers.

Interview both customers who love and hate your product. Those customers who are not really feeling your business at the moment could offer you great insight as to how to improve what you currently offer. This insight could help you close some leads who may later be interested in buying but have one or two objections.

Other common Market Research techniques include surveys, focus groups, observation, and field trials. (http://www.allbusiness.com/the-five-basic-methods-of-market-research-1287-1.html). Do not forget to offer customers something for helpful information they provide.

Market Reality involves using lead intelligence software, feedback from sales team, customers’ feedback and suggestions. You could also use Google Analytics to track customers’ online activities. Worthy of note is that Google Analytics only tells you what is happening to your website and when.

You need to also know who is doing what, when they are doing it and especially their pattern of content consumption. Their pattern of content consumption will paint a clearer picture of what they find interesting about your business.

Kissmetrics is a good lead intelligence application you could lay your hands on today. (https://www.kissmetrics.com/about/). When you empower your sales team with far-reaching data about qualified leads, you could be sure your conversion rate will be on the rise.

WHO NEEDS MY BUYER PERSONAS?

Marketers, Sales guys, Product Designers, Content Developers, Customer Service team, PR firms, Advertising Agencies, Media Sales outlets, Research and Development teams.

Everyone within and outside your organization who contributes to conversion should be able to read and interpret your buyer personas. The more reason buyer personas should contain actionable insights such as the conditions that trigger your buyer's need, their perception of a successful outcome, their barriers to choosing you, the capabilities they expect you to deliver, and the steps they take to identify alternative suppliers and choose one.

WHAT WILL BUYER PERSONAS HELP ME ACHIEVE?

It helps you address customers as humans. With buyer personas, you could create a memorable encounter for your prospect, lead or customer at any stage of the buyer’s journey. Your conversation becomes more relevant as you already have a clue of what could be important or irrelevant to your audience. Successful sales people know the effectiveness of how to make a prospect feel like a king by singling him out for attention. Buyer persona saves you from the danger of making a customer see himself as a number.

It helps you choose the right language. Buyer personas will teach you what language, tone or accent could get the customer more inclined or dis-satisfied. At customer service points in some cases, it is not what a representative says or does that really infuriates a customer, it is how it is said or done. Buyer personas would have educated you as a company ambassador at that point of interacting with customer how to show respect and concern for your customer. Retaining customers and making them promoters of your brand is a big deal and could be a cheap victory if well explored.

It helps us know how to address customer's challenges. When you start a relationship with someone prior to sales pitch, you stand a better chance of winning such person’s trust ahead of your presentation. How do you ignite that interest you could nurture into trust, then patronage, without knowing your audience’s concerns? Buyer personas contain those primary and secondary problems a prospect intend to solve. A good knowledge of this will help you identify the problem, get him to confirm you have hit the nail on the head, then you proffer solution from the perspective of your product. It is more difficult to convince some to buy from you when such person cannot envisage how what you offer could help his situation in the long run.

It makes the audience the point of focus. During lead nurturing, buyer personas will guide you on how to create your selling proposition around the prospect. Remember, marketing is no longer the push-push thing where it is one-way communication. As you dialogue your way into a lead’s heart, the lead’s perspectives, concerns and objections are what you hammer on, not how beautiful your product is or how fantastic your brand is at what you offer.

It determines what content type that will be useful for your audience. Yes, content is king. Yes, context is queen. Have you seen many successful kingdoms with only either of the two? Much as you strive to engage your audience throughout the buyer’s journey with intelligent content, the context, format and topic you choose and optimize is very important in determining how relevant your content turns out to be. You sure do not want to spend so much money and time to develop content which your audience cannot connect with. Buyer personas for sure will help you answer the “who?” question during the planning stage of content development.

It helps in creating the right product. One common problem with many a great product is that they are too off-the-shelf. They have been carefully designed, they have been developed by the best brains, and they have been deployed by the most innovative hands around. BUT, users do not find them flexible enough for their situations. As we develop product to solve a particular problem or resolve certain set of challenges, we need buyer personas to guide us as to how users can customize our products.

Since power has shifted to consumers to control what sells, we should know and implement what to do to our offers that will make users comfortable handling them. To make them feel, this product is actually made for me, not for some thousand wannabe’s, buyer persona will be very useful since it details ideal users’ motivations, perspectives and concerns.

It helps you personalize email and other campaigns. Much as your email campaigns may be targeted at many people all at once, buyer personas will help you segment your list and personalize your messages. The same message could be sent to different categories of audience using different titles, from names, presentation tones in order to maximize acceptance across board. Armed with buyer personas, you could decipher what will be accepted to some and what will look vague to others. Buyer personas help you tailor your lead nurturing or customer retention messages to taste.

It makes your lead generation highly targeted. Every business needs new customers. So much is always budgeted towards recruiting strangers. Buyer personas is the ultimate traffic generation guide. It helps you know what media to explore, what social media platform you should scout and keywords to optimize. There is no point creating lead generation campaigns that bring millions of visitors, then hundreds of thousands of enquiries but ten to twenty conversions. Let your buyer personas specify the spectrum of millions of the online community members your message is meant for.

It helps your sales team create rapport that well resonates with leads. Whether a lead has made a buying decision and gets in touch with the sales team or the marketing team hands over sales qualified leads (SQL) to the sales team, closing these qualified leads become easier and more successful with the aid of buyer personas. How? The sales team can quickly borrow a clue from buyer personas and lead intelligence information in order to know how to relate with the leads. It is certain they want to buy at this stage, but how would you get them to sign the cheques? How would you make them buy more and keep coming?

If your business loses a sales qualified lead because your sales team did not handle them well, it is always colossal and painful. It amounts to waste of funds from budget perspective and could mean fruitless labour from the marketing team’s perspective. Either way, it is not good enough for businesses to lose a lead during closing. Get your whole organization working around your buyer personas and you, all, will be alright!

It reduces cost of lead acquisition by focusing your campaign to highly qualified audience. Your cost-per-lead reduces when you let buyer personas narrow down target audience to relevant minority you could attract and effectively nurture to closure instead of crowd of leads that pop in en masse and bounce off in troops. You also spend less on content development aimed at brand awareness, value proposition and customer retention since you have a vivid idea of who will find you and consume your content. Then, you create less optimally targeted content, spend less money and time to achieve better results.

Take your time to plan, develop, deploy detailed actionable buyer personas that are beyond some random Powerpoint bullets plus mere customer profiling.
Your lead generation becomes more targeted, your content strategy costs less, your customer retention rate increases, your bottom-line will be better for it. Buyer personas ensure your input into the purchase funnel is very relevant to your business goals.

BusinessEmail Marketing Is Not Spamming, It Is Nurturing by Obadeyemi9ja(op): 10:05pm On May 08, 2016
“Worldwide email use continues to grow at a healthy pace. In 2015, the number of worldwide email users will be nearly 2.6 billion. By the end of 2019, the number of worldwide email users will increase to over 2.9 billion. Over one-third of the worldwide population will be using email by year-end 2019.

Over the next four years, the average number of email accounts per user ratio will grow from an average of 1.7 accounts per user to an average of 1.9 accounts per user. Though there is increased use of IM, social networking, and other forms of communication, email continues to show steady growth, as all IM, social networks and other services require users to have an email address to access their services. In addition, all online transactions (i.e. shopping, banking, etc.) require a valid email address. “

Above is an excerpt from Email Statistics Report, 2015-2019 by The Radicati Group, Inc. The report was based on statistics and forecasts for Email and Mobile Email use from 2015 to 2019. It included data on both business and consumer adoption of email. When you read and digest the report in full, you will be convinced that, yes email was once dead, but email has bounced back better and stronger.

Email means many things to many people. Internal communication, B2B means of sharing information, newsletter, updates, cold-calling marketing and so on, are what readily come to mind when ‘email’ is mentioned.

There was an era that our darling friend, email, was declared dead by authoritative figures in advertising, publishing and marketing. They reduced email marketing to spamming. ‘Yaaaga”, many a follower adopted the gospel, subsequently gave up on email as a cheap, effective tool for creating awareness, nurturing relationships plus sustaining consistent conversations with clients for retention purpose.

Spamming, being bulk unsolicited message, is honestly synonymous with email -likewise bulk SMS. I receive an average of ten text messages from ‘God-knows-who’ on weekly basis promoting this offer or asking me to subscribe to that service I never showed interest in. That is spamming, it is equally annoying.

Pop-up display ads are not SPAM, right? But they jump on top of your nose while searching for vital piece of information. Some ads show up like hour-glass, you are somehow being told to respond to the ad or leave the website. These do not sound like SPAM, but they are unsolicited and annoying.

Advertising, online marketing inclusive, over-stepped boundaries, became interruption. Why was email singled out for crucifixion?

From the perspective of offering value to audience in exchange for their attention, from the perspective of asking customers for honest feedback, from the perspective of soliciting for clients’ input in product design or suggestions for personalizing services to best suit users, email is very powerful, conversational, heartfelt, personal and cost-effective.

The huge benefits of email marketing stand tall, tower high above prejudice of spamming attached to it in recent years.

Above all reasons email marketing, if done with best practices, should be prioritized by all businesses is the reality that marketing has become experience-based. Buyers patronize who they can trust with their hard-earned money. There are so many options, so many reasons to buy from you, someone else or not to buy at all. Thus, email should be seen as the go-to resource for starting, sustaining relationships which drive sales and customer satisfaction.

Your website may be search-friendly, it may attract traffic like a ‘cyber-magnet’, but users still have to look for you before they know what your website is up to. Your social media posts may go viral, you may garner thousands of shares and likes it is but a temporary victory.

Where is ‘Share a Coke’ today? It was all over the place last year. The campaign went viral, it was a huge success in terms of user engagement. But like every other campaign, they come and go. Also, there are glaring limitations to your banner ads as many browsers conveniently block pop-ups plus banner blindness that creeps in when audience get used to seeing your ad everywhere, every time.

Email marketing is the Goshen in Egypt when other digital marketing tools are plagued by these illness. Email is personal, it is on-the-go. Users carry it with them. People read emails anywhere, anytime.

When someone wakes up in the morning, before greeting their bedmate, they check their phones. One of those things they are most likely going to check is email. Why on God’s green earth don’t we embrace the goodies email marketing has brought to us?

Instead of unjustly murdering our loyal marketing errand-boy, let us look into what we are not doing right with it, correct those gray areas and move on to successful marketing with email.

Henceforth, let us adopt email marketing as a veritable means of intimating our targets with our brand message, adding value to our followers for their loyalty, nurturing visitors into leads, closing leads into customers, making customers promoters of our business by delighting them.

Let us stop the habit of sales-pitching everyone whose email we lay our hands on. Let our buyer personas tell us what stage of buyers’ journey the prospect is before we send message meant for Sales Qualified Leads (SQL) to first-time visitor to our website.

Let us create different email content for different segments of our audience based on their needs at a point in the purchase funnel. Email for creating awareness should be different from that of lead nurturing which should be different from email for delighting loyal customers.

Simply put, if all you do is get people’s email addresses and send them sales pitches without lead intelligence or any form of market research to know if they need what you offer, you are SPAMMING. And you are punishing people for sharing their email addresses.

According to Hubspot, 4.3 billion email accounts send 196 billion emails every day. 91% of consumers check their email daily. 77% of consumers prefer email for marketing communications. Email has a marketing ROI of 4,300%.

Tips from Hubspot for sending the right message to the right persons at the right time:
-Determine your audience: do a little market research to get familiar with whom you are talking
-Send the right email at the right time: message must tally with reader’s current needs.
-Nurture your lead into a customer: know you are fostering relationship not persuading to buy.
-Segment your contacts database: email content should not be one-size-fits-all
-Constantly update contact list: 25% of email database decays annually.
-Be mobile-conscious with email content: 47% of all email is opened on mobile.

Steps towards a perfect email:
-Define a clear goal for your email: choose what in particular each email should achieve.
-Focus on engagement: your message will be trashed if it asks for value instead of adding it.
-Personalize where appropriate: let the reader feel you are human not some robot
-Test and analyze: measure every email campaign, apply the result to subsequent campaigns.

Jobs/VacanciesBest Approach To Networking -go Add Value! by Obadeyemi9ja(op): 8:58pm On May 08, 2016
Your net-worth is a function of your network.

Networking is everybody's business. It has gone beyond mere hobby. It is a serious business. So serious a business that no position you will ever attain in life that you would not need to meet new people, exchange ideas, learn from them and see how what you pick from their experiences and views could help improve your life and career.

Be you a CEO, a student, a start-up entrepreneur, a salesperson, a marketer, a job applicant, networking is not taught in school but it is very crucial to your current and future endeavours. Having established that, what is your motive for networking? What is always on your mind when you have opportunity to meet new people at various gatherings?

Now is the time to check yourself and be sure you are approaching networking with a positive mindset, not the self-centred attitude that is common among some folks. To flirt, eat and drink to stupour , to get a job or to book an immediate appointment should not be your primary reason to network. What is this guy saying?

If you go out looking for friends, for many years and after thousands of attempts, you may not find for yourself friends as good as you really wish. However, if you go out to help someone, you already have a friend. That is how networking should be approached.

"You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you." - Dale Carnegie

The obvious truth is we all network to better our lot. The not-so-good side of it is always asking 'what is in it for me?'. Some people are so pragmatic about it that once they size someone up and such individual does not seem to have what they want. they find means to turn the person down.

Much as we try really hard to be persons of success, could we try harder to be persons of value?

The expectation of majority of folks at a networking gathering is some immediate or remote benefits. Thus, if you go to such gatherings armed with ideas, materials, tips or links that are relevant enough to help those you meet, you will attract them all like a magnet. While they are there to get as much as they could get, you go there with some help for them. No matter how little, prepare yourself to add value to new people you will meet.

"Be the change you wish to see in the world" - Ghandi

If you would like to see a change in attitude behind networking among people, let the change start with you. Just as this article is out to sensitize people that networking could be better with the aim of adding value to one another other than getting from one another, you could write, publish and promote helpful articles which you could refer to at such gatherings.

Depending on your industry, you could write articles that help clients or organizations identify prominent problems. Beyond articles that help identify common problems in your line of business, you could write articles that proffer solutions to problems that are synonymous with your industry. Your write-ups could be reviews of popular products or services. You could offer to garner users' opinions of some brands.

This already positions you as a problem-solver. When you meet new people in your industry, and you provide links to these articles, you have given them something already. Hopefully, they find one or two things to pick from your articles, you already registered with them a very good reason to get in touch with you later.

"Writing is the beginning of all wealth." -Benjamin Franklin

Going to networking gatherings with your business card is good, but, taking along copies of your book is better. Writing a book tells people how talented you are and how much of an authority you could be. When you have opportunity to address people, it is always of great advantage if you are sharing with them what you already wrote in your book(s). This tells your audience you are not telling them some random stuffs you stumbled upon somewhere.

For students, job seekers or those who might not be so much endowed to write and publish books. One or two copies of a book that has really touched you could come handy. Even if you cannot afford to give out as much, bringing up such books during your conversations could be helpful too. Make references to such book(s) and have at your finger tips how someone else could get the book in case a new person you just met would like to read the book too.

There are millions of ebooks online. Find those that are relevant to your calling. Read them and share with new people you meet. Since you are not bringing up the conversations in order to impress your new friends, they will understand from your body language that you are empowered with ample knowledge from various authorities. You never can tell what insight your conversation or recommendation could lead your new friend into.

REMINDER: Write a book. Give copies of your book to new contacts instead of mere business cards. If you cannot write and publish a book, read enough to be able to share with people you meet. Do not just tell them how great the book you read is, be prepared to help them get it or show them how to get it.

“A good speech should be like a woman's skirt; long enough to cover the subject and short enough to create interest.” ― Winston S. Churchill
Glossophobia is the fear of public speaking. Congratulations to those who are neither shy nor afraid of addressing an assembly strange heads. Consider your yourself very lucky when given opportunity to talk at public events. It is a secret networking tool.

Your voice, your composure, your carriage, your ability to carry your audience along is a strong indicator of your self-esteem and self-awareness. See every opportunity to give a speech or keynote address as an unpaid advert for your personal brand or business.

Whether it is your first time speaking in public or your 100th, a lecture at a university study day or a school project, if list of speakers included some very successful people in the field whom you admire or if it's just you, well-prepared or not, public speaking can be daunting. So how do you get from someone in the throes of a panic attack to a confident speaker?

(http://www.wikihow.com/Be-an-Effective-Public-Speaker) (http://time.com/3758692/become-good-public-speaker/)

"If you help enough people get what they want, you will get what you want". -Zig Ziglar

This is not so common but it simply means you are self-less. Develop genuine interest in helping people. Of course, you cannot help them to a meaningful extent if you do not know their challenges. By the time you probe into their matters, you have a good understanding of what they need fixed. Perhaps, you are not in the best position to render such help, do not feel unwanted. Be magnanimous enough to link up who could help solve your new contact's problem.

It sure looks like discovering an oil well and giving it out free of charge. But, you have made two new friends. You have added value to two new people. Two new people are aware of your willingness to make life better for others. If each of them refers you or talk about you to one person , you have grown a network of four persons already.

Think of the ripple effect of connecting people in due time.
if the direct beneficiaries of your goodwill do not reciprocate, you have earned some credibility which money cannot buy. When and where you will reap the benefit of this, you never can tell.

Giving connects two people, the giver and the receiver, and this connection gives birth to a new sense of belonging. - Deepak Chopra

What sense does networking make if you will not follow up?

Following up opens a new line of communication. 'Hello, how are you doing today?" sounds like a broken record though, it could toss open a can of worm. Just that minute your phone call rings, your text message gets delivered, your email is received, you do not know exactly what your new contact is going through or what critical need he urgently wants to meet.

You cannot afford to under-estimate the power of following up with a new friend. It shows you really value meeting such a person. Merely checking on them or asking for updates on things about your new contact s you discussed at the networking gathering could start a long-lasting relationship. Most people prefer doing business with someone they could trust. How do you gain someone's trust without a relationship?

As social animals, we tend to reciprocate every good act that comes our way to show we are not ingrates. Following up with him could prompt him to call you sometime soon. Feedbacks keep rolling in, one or two invites to other events could follow, your new relationship then flourishes.

Many a job seeker has failed to get the attention of decision-makers because they approached networking wrongly. A couple of working class people who want to change careers or jobs also have missed great opportunities by basically asking 'what is in it for me?". No matter how highly-placed the person you meet or intend to meet, no one is beyond help. No one is too big to be helped achieve one or two things, I suppose. if you have out-grown a helping hand, kindly call my attention and prove me wrong at this point.

Much as you need others to get a job, appointment, referral or whatever form of help from others, those whose favour you intend to win are human too. They need some form of help for their work, personal improvement or family life enhancement ideas. Go all out to be a friend, go networking armed with some help for your new contact. It is a win-win situation. Healthy relationship makes both parties better persons.

Network with this mindset, you will be glad you ever read this piece.

BusinessBusiness Owner Mindset –how Entrepreneurs Should Think. by Obadeyemi9ja(op): 2:21pm On Apr 25, 2016
You sure must have been asked one of the most interesting questions in a business environment –online, offline or face-to-face conversation. The question is “are you employed or self-employed?” What seems to bother the majority of us is the employment part. Of course I have a job and somebody is paying my salary. That means I am employed, not self-employed. If your only reason you claim not to be self-employed is that your paychecks come from someone else’ bank account, I’m sorry but you are wrong.

This is not the best way to think about yourself if you ever thought of developing yourself in order to lead a team or business of your own someday. Even while you are being paid monthly to carry out a set of tasks, you employed yourself first before your employer found you worthy of handling that position you are currently getting paid for.

The business owner mindset is about thinking of yourself as your own boss first of all. You trained yourself, you made yourself valuable before what you offer can attract some charges. That way you have already employed yourself. Think of how much went into your schooling form KG 2 to where you are today. Think of how much effort your parents or sponsors put into getting you through all training you ever got, be it formal or informal.

One secret I observe in those who learn trade is this ownership attitude they have towards their trade. While they are still learning, they may be living with their tutor or not, they are given responsibilities and small projects to manage on their own which they would give account of before their quota or raba is given to them. These recurring activities form an ownership mindset in them as they grow in experience and age. It prepares them for the day they will have their own businesses and start managing their customers and funds.

But those of us who attended up school read lots of book and memorized what our Mr Lecturers learnt even before some of us before were born. We don’t see ourselves preparing for the business of labour market. I am not debating the practicality of our respective courses in school here, I’m talking about us seeing ourselves as getting prepared to be suitable for at least someone to hire when we beg to apply.

This is not majorly our fault though. Our colonial masters who brought education to us, brought with it slavery. The master-slave mindset has been running in our veins for a long time. The attitude our forefathers who worked for the White then was that the job was not theirs. ‘oga ta, og o ta, owo alaaru a pe’. They knew that whether they did the job fantastically fine or not, their salary would be paid at the month.

However, some of them were outstanding then and decided to distinguish themselves. Some sought education abroad and came back with the right attitude to work, whether paid or owned. Little wonder we have some elite families from then till now. You too can change what runs in your bloodline today if you choose to own your life.

Owning your life is the best way to think about your paid job or business of your own. If you see yourself as your own boss, you will do more than the barest minimum when you are assigned tasks. You will take your self-development seriously. You won’t find it very difficult to take out of your meagre or armed robber salary to acquire training that will make you a superstar on your job. Choose to #EPPYOURSELF today, whether you acknowledge it or not, you are OYO.

Even, if you intend to be a salary-man till retirement, it will do you a lot of good to have a business owner mindset. You will benefit greatly from thinking about yourself as an entrepreneur. With this perspective of thinking like your own boss, you will realize that the more you develop yourself, the more respect your current boss and prospective bosses will allocate to you.

When you bring yourself up as your own boss, your real boss will find it hard to let you go when you want to move to greater challenge. Such boss may not tell it to your face but the effect of your departure will keep him wondering how your replacement can out-perform you. As your own boss, you will be able to make more decisions that are pertaining to you than any other person. You will be able to choose, over time, who to work for and who not to work for.

Of course, for those who have plans to start their own business or are already putting some structure together to get started, experience will definitely tell you what taking responsibilities for yourself feels like. You will not only take responsibilities for yourself but also for others you will employ. If you do your business with who wan die attitude, over time, your employees will do the same in your absence. Your bottom-line is what will kindly explain to you whether I no fit kee maself attitude to work pays or not.
