Travel / Re: U.S. Immigration Questions: Ask A U.S. Consular Officer by Obatala7: 4:32am On Jun 06, 2015
Hello V.O

I was scheduled by NVC for interview at the Lagos consulate on May 28th 2015.

My wife arrived Lagos from the U.S. a few days to my interview date and we checked into a hotel close to the consulate on the 27th of May.

However to our total dismay and shock we received a mail in the afternoon of the 27th that the interview is on the 2nd of July.

I went to the consulate as originally scheduled in the morning with my interview letter as sent to me by NVC but was informed my name wasn't on the list.

Please can you explain to me why I was treated in this manner and any chance of having my interview earlier.

Thanks!

Certificate saga: CJN probes magistrate

on February 20, 2015 / in News 1:04 am / Comments

By Ikechukwu Nnochiri

ABUJA — The Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Mahmud Mohammed, has okayed an investigation into a petition accusing a Chief Magistrate in Abuja, Mr. Abubakar Babashani, of deliberately frustrating moves to commence hearing on the perjury charge entered against the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (ret).

Already, the CJN has directed the magistrate to immediately file his response to the petition entitled “Case of Abuse of Office and Manifest Bias by His Worship, Abubakar Babashani, in The Criminal Complaint by Shield Jones Ufot & Ors. Vs. Muhammed Buhari.”

Reacting to the petition, the CJN via a letter with Ref. No. CJN/MAN/B9/S.1/VOL.VI/389, which was signed by his Senior Special Assistant, Mrs. Hadiza Sa’eed, said he would give due consideration to all the allegations that were raised against the magistrate in the complaint letter dated February 4, 2015.

Specifically, four activists, Shield Jones Ufot, Jimmy David, Ogueri Enwerem and Tochukwu Okorie, had in a direct criminal complaint they filed before the Abuja Chief Magistrate Court, accused Buhari of violating section157 of the Penal Code.

In the suit they filed pursuant to sections 143 (d) and 152 of the Criminal Procedure Code, the plaintiffs alleged that the APC presidential flag bearer placed reliance on a bogus certificate to depose an affidavit before a competent court, an action they said amounted to perjury and punishable under section 158 of the Penal Code Law.

Meantime, the plaintiffs in the petition they filed through their lawyer, Mr. Ugochukwu Ezekiel, told the CJN that after filing the criminal complaint and paying all the necessary fees, they alleged that Chief Magistrate Babashani “refused to give directives as required of him by law either for the Police to investigate and report back to the court, assign the matter to another Magistrate or proceed to hear the matter.”

According to them, “On several occasions when we enquired at the registry of the court, we were informed that his worship was not on seat to attend to our file. We approached his worship earlier today to seek explanation for his refusal to make the necessary directives.

“At first, his worship informed us that he got directives from the Honourable Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory not to hear our matter but when we sought to know in what form the directive cane, his worship further informed us that he will not sit on our matter because a revenue collector’s reciept was not attached to the file and he will not accept Aso Bank’s teller as evidence of payment for filing the suit.

“The FCT High Court has not issued a revenue receipt to any litigant as evidence of payment for filing any process in the court but accepted Aso Bank’s teller as evidence of payment for any process filed in the court both in the High Court and the Magistrate Court and it is not the fault of the litigant(s) that the court does not have any receipt to issue to him/them.

“We are equally aware of many cases filed in the Chief Magistrate Court which were heard and some are still being heard by his worship, Abubakar Babashani.

“Upon refusal of his worship to carry out his judicial duties, out clients made further enquiries at the revenue department both at the Magistrate Court and the FCT High Court and we were informed that the court is yet to print receipts for cases filed in court and only use tellers as evidence of payment for filing a suit.

“Considering the above stated facts, out clients are led to believe that his Worship is intentionally refusing to hear our clients’ matter in order to frustrate our clients from pursuing justice, giving flimsy excuses in so doing.

“Our clients are equally convinced that his Worship is already biased and has shown manifest bias as to the content of our complaint. We therefore call upon you to use your good offices to do or cause to be done the following: (a) Direct the transfer of the case from his worship, Abubakar Babashani to any other magistrate of the FCT Magistrate Court competent to hear the matter.

“(b) Investigate the allegations contained in this petition with a view to meting out adequate punishment to his Worship if found culpable.

“Our clients strongly believe in the pursuit of justice and matters filed before a court should be given fair and unbiased hearing which the actions of his Worship does not depict in this instance.

“My Lord, we therefore kindly request that the case file on this matter be withdrawn from his Worship, Chief Magistrate Babashani and be re-assigned to any other Magistrate of the Magistrate Court of the FCT for hearing.”

Shameless akinriade, at his age he lies like a common thief caught pants down.

Not surprised though, these guys belong to the set of Nigerians who think everyone must tremble once they bark. Bros this is 2015, your grandson's age will ridicule you if you portray yourself in bad light.

THE ONLY AND EASY WAY OUT IS FOR BUHARI TO REQUEST FOR HIS CREDENTIALS FROM THE APPOPRIATE AUTHORITIES.

AND IF THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE, HE SHOULD COME OUT CLEAN AND APOLOGISE TO NIGERIANS.

WE SEE WESTERN POLITICIANS TAKING THIS ROUTE ALL THE TIME.

I am Yoruba and I am a very proud one too.

One thing I know for sure of the Yoruba people is they are extremely independent in their thoughts.

I have taken my time to appreciate the two main candidates for presidency come feb 14 2015 using three main criteria; 1. Past performances in public life. 2. Present disposition towards the electorate. 3. Future postulations in terms of their economic outlooks for the Nigerian state.

There's no mincing words that I have found in Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan a true democrat abreast with the present day reality of Nigerians with a firm understanding of the economic, social and political outlook of present day Nigeria and the world in general.

I am one Yoruba man who has 'independently' decided to pitch my tent with the presidential candidate of the PDP.

If at this stage, the daura general is being cajoled and overrun by his so called "handlers" not to do what the majority of Nigerians and indeed the international community truly want to see, it sure speaks volumes of his capacity to take any decisions that'll be in favour of the Nigerian people if it's not in tandem with the imaginations of his 'handlers.

The same people crying out for a corruption free Nigeria are entrenched in such mess. How low can people really go?

The right and honorable thing for anyone of impeccable integrity to do is to approach the appropriate authorities, ( in this case the Cambridge assessment ) to settle this and clear it once and for all. Obama did it when he was under pressure for not being an American by birth. He approached the appropriate authorities in charge and they released his birth certificate for all to see and peruse.

Isn't it worrying that terrorists who claim book is haram are more or less being celebrated by some who claim if buhari submits nepa bill it will be good enough for them.

Makes me wonder if those clamouring for a change in government are truly lovers of Nigeria or haters of Nigeria.

If we are getting such passmarks from international bodies which I believe in this case is the best ever for any Nigerian government then what do you want to change? A reversal of policies that has taken us to this level?

THE TRUE NIGERIANS AND LOVERS OF THIS GREAT COUNTRY MUST PUT THEIR FOOTS DOWN......NO NO NO TO SO CALLED CHANGE!

Beasts Of No Nation

Beasts of No Nation: Beast of No Nation is the first song Fela wrote in 1986, after he was liberated from prison—serving two years from a five year prison sentence for trumped-up foreign currency violation charges. Everywhere he went after his release, people were asking him what he was going to sing about: ‘Fela wetin you go sing about? Them go worry me!”. People wanted to hear him sing about his prison experience, like he had done with the songs like: Alagbon Close, Kalakuta Show, and Expensive Shit. Finally, he decided to sing about the world we live in—with particular reference to Nigeria. He said when he was in prison he called it ‘Inside World’, out of prison he called it ‘Outside World’. But for him it is actually ‘Craze World’. Otherwise, what name can one give a world with: police brutality, army oppression, courts without justice, magistrates who are supposed to uphold the law, obviously seen bending the law to please some special interest.

As further proof of the craze world, he sings about the judge who sent him to jail for five years on a trumped up charge, only for the same judge to visit Fela in a prison hospital two years after. The judge apologized, claiming he was under pressure from the government to convict. This could only happen in a Craze World, Fela reasons. It can only be in a craze world that people sit and watch governments shoot down protesting students with impunity, like in Soweto(South Africa), Zaria and Ife(Nigeria). Bearing in mind that Nigeria like all craze world countries, condemn the apartheid regime in South Africa, yet committing crimes against humanity in their respective countries. Turning to another aspect of craze world policy of the Nigerian government. In 1983, the Buhari/Idigabon military regime launched a public campaign dubbed ‘War Against Indiscipline’. This was the regime’s solution to corruption inherent in the Nigerian society. To justify this campaign, the Nigerian head of state, General Buhari and his deputy General Idiagbon publicly used words like: ‘…my people are useless! My people are senseless! My people are indisciplined!’ to describe Nigerian People. For Fela, only in a craze world can such remarks be made.

Moreover, such statements could only have come from an ‘animal in human skin’. How could these two animals use such words to qualify a people who feed them? This being so, other leaders from other countries must either be animals themselves to associate with, or accept to co-habit under such an umbrella as the United Nations with a head of state that considers his people useless. Turning to the United Nations, Fela saw it as a majorly unhealthy organization that suffers major inadequacy in its organizational principles. It is absurd to organize the UN principle bodies; the Security Council and the General Assembly, in such an undemocratic manner as one member’s cote can veto the decision of the majority. Is this Democracy? “What is United about the UN?” Fela asked. Thatcher went to war with Argentina over Falkland—yet both counties are members of the world body. Reagan and Libya were at war. Israel versus Lebanon. Iran versus Iraq. East-West cold war. It looks more like a group of disunited nations, so how can such a body work to promote and encourage respect for human rights?

For Fela, that is another kind of animal talk. How can people talk about ‘individual’ rights? No one has the right to deprive someone else of what belongs to the individual—only an animal would try to take away another person’s legitimate rights. People who hear Fela say things like this reminded him that he was sent to prison for having such opinions of government. He, in his defense, said it was not him who called members of the UN animals. It was Pik Botha, the former South Africa President at the peak of the anti-apartheid struggle, in reaction to the persistent riots against the racist regime. He came out with a statement that his regime would act more brutally if the riots did not stop: “…this uprising will bring out the beast in us”. Fela’s reminded us that President Reagan advocated: “..constructive engagement with the apartheid regime” among member nations of the UN. The same policy as Mrs. Thatcher – an indication that they were sharing the same friendship and animal characteristics as Botha. If this is so the UN can only be an assembly of Beasts of No Nation.

What else has he got to say now? We are already used to the tons of lies being reeled out by him and his associates, 9am wed 21st 2015 can be no different. It's a shame that Nigeria is now been dragged to this level of mediocrity by those who want power by all means.

Obama was accused of not been an American by birth and he gave access to his birth certificate for all to see, why do we not emulate the good sides of others?

NOTHING SHORT OF HIM PRESENTING HIS CERTIFICATE TOMORROW WILL SUFFICE!!!
