ONITSHA – Medical services will soon begin at the permanent site of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), Nnewi, Anambra State, to decongest the temporary site, which the hospital has outgrown over the years, according to the management.

Chief Medical Director of the NAUTH, Prof. Anthony Igwegbe, declared this on Wednesday while speaking with journalists. He said the hospital had outgrown its temporary site in terms of manpower and services it provided.

Professor Igwegbe said construction was ongoing at the permanent site located between Nnewi and Oraifite communities. He expressed optimism that very soon, partial movement would commence and some clinics would be relocated to the new site, including the out-patients’ department.

“This is the first phase of our movement that we hope to accomplish soon. We can’t move everybody at the same time. We have been doing something to move, though slowly because of funds, it has been progressive over the years. We have begun to see the end of the tunnel,” he said.

There is no need for the completion of the teaching hospital currently.. Nnamdi Azikiwe University teaching hospital currently have very nice structures in the temporary site... The location of the temporary site is in the centre of town... They have very nice structures and to Nigerian standard its classy... Thr is no need for relocation, they just acquired the land for when the need arises....
They also have land at okofia otolo Nnewi where the medical students re..


The location of the Anambra Progressive hospital is in the outskirts of town.. Very close to Oraifite in ekwusigo local government...

Nnamdi Azikiwe University teaching hospital have not moved to thr permanent site. They have no plans to do so in the near future
