lexy2014: What are u even saying. U asked about food self sufficiency which I told u no country in d world has attained. This is a definition of food self sufficiency.
"food self-sufficiency is defined as being able to meet consumption needs (particularly for staple food crops) from own production rather than by buying or importing."
For u to b assuming that d US is food self sufficient, shows that u don't no much about what u are arguing. That's a fact we are talkin different things.... i know somehow what you mean, but keep in mind america has alot of resources too.... |

lexy2014: First of, nothing u said answered any of d questions I asked. Instead u have opened up another angle of issues that u still might no little or nothing about. But first, let me leave u with d questions I asked.
When u say "illegal importation", which products are u referring? Are u telling me that d only thing that happens at d borders is "illegal importation"? Pls what is d job of d Nigerian customs service?
Is it because of an open border that our local rice farmers can't perform? What is d volume of local production compared to consumption?
Apart from rice, what other reason were d borders closed or is it because of rice d govt closed d border?
Now let me address d things u have said. Pls how vast is d Nigerian border? Pls tell me. Pls tell me how borders are controlled? Is it d entire border that is manned or a small portion? Who told u that European countries don't man their borders? In d case of Nigeria, what is d meaning of ECOWAS and what is it bout? guy,i dont dabble in confusions.... you are talkin about stuffs i dont know that much about.... and am only tellin you things i know....simple.... it was you who mentioned borders, and am telling you what i know about borders....plain simple.... what realy happens at the borders, how can i know....?? |

psychologygh: Do you think Ghana have your time to be exporting rice to your country. We're having the same issue when government spends more than 1 billion dollars a year to import rice into our country for consumption. Do you realize we are the 2nd largest consumers, market and economy in West Africa and our consumption alone is a huge chunk on our foreign exchange. We have a population of 30 million and a GDP Purchasing power of almost 200 billion dollars. Did you see me telling you Nigeria exports goods worth 306 million dollars to Ghana in 2018 alone. Our exports to Nigeria is just 80 million dollars. Togo exploits us due to their free port just like Benin does to you.We have the same issues. Our exports to Nigeria is mostly Nigerian companies who relocated to Ghana and use the ECOWAS free trade route to export some of their goods to your market. We both loose if we start a trade war buh Nigeria loses badly. That's why your government have agreed with Ghana to open a temporary corridor for Ghanaian trucks to enter and leave Nigeria amidst the border closure .GUTA still refused for that and wants a ban of Nigerian goods and traders in Ghana. Our rice is even very different from yours and you will never find your type of rice in Ghana. Our rice cooks in just 20 minutes. interesting post.... i didnt know alot of the stuff you mentioned here.... |

Rosskiki: WRONG: Nigeria's GDP per capita is nearly 6,000 USD, while Ghana's is 4,600.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_African_countries_by_GDP_(PPP)_per_capita
Considering Nigeria has 200 million people compared to just 25 million people in Ghana, it's an even greater achievement. many black people dont even understand this GDP_(PPP)_per_capita stuff sef.... not even me understand it that well sef.... abegi.... ghana has no chance.... |

Chukapage: Epic ! Until Nigerians accept there own 50% of blame and not push 100% of blame to any Federal Government the country will keep developing at slow pace! I once saw one uninformed and unintelligent fellow boasting on how he prefers foreign goods and how he can't use our own locally manufactured goods I just laughed at his Ignorance. Because he will still complain about the government "incompetence" in creating employment and giving adequate security ,while indirectly his dumb self and his likes are the cause. you wan take ghanaians serious....!!?? people that cancel zeros from their currency....?? |

lexy2014: English language is very simple. This is d statement I responded to
"can US allowed anything they can produce to enter into their country? Especially food"
D gentleman said "anything" and that includes SAMSUNG and Toyota products.
Second, do u use ur phone to watch porn? Maybe that's y that's d only thing u could think of. Again, is it only phone Samsung produces or does Toyota produce phone?
Third, ur ignorance is getting d better of u. There's no country in d world that is self sufficient in food production. They supplement local production with imports when demand can't b made by local production. That's basic for every country. Food isn't an exception. I expected u to no something that simple. go hug something....when i say sufficient,i mean enough that it doesnt become a burden to your purse money.... ofcourse i know nobody is a island.... |
