An 18-year-old man, Samuel Akpobome, who was arrested by the police in Edo State for allegedly killing his mother for money rituals, has explained how he committed the act.

Samuel Akpobeme killed his mother, had sex with her corpse for money ritual. The teenager who was paraded by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Johnson Kokumo, stated that he later had sexual intercourse with his mother’s corpse.


He said, “I wanted to use her (Christiana) for money rituals. I strangled her; she was sleeping when I strangled her at about 5 am. I was advised by a native doctor in Oghara to k**l her. After killing her, I slept with her. The native doctor told me to do so and keep her corpse for two days.”

A former Politics Editor at Daily Trust newspaper, Ibrahim Dan-Halilu, has been arrested by the Department for Security Service (DSS) in Kaduna State for allegedly supporting the activities of RevolutionNow in a Facebook post.

The group, which is agitating for revolution movement in Nigeria, was convened by Omoyele Sowore, Publisher of Sahara Reporters.

It was gathered that Dan-Halilu, a former staunch supporter of President Muhammadu before the 2015 elections was once a communication specialist with USAID, Information Assistant at the US Embassy and a Regional Communication Specialist for Family Health.

Operatives of DSS, it was gathered stormed Dan-Halilu’s residence in Rigachikun, Kaduna State, on Monday morning and whisked him away at about 2 am.

Dan-Halilu posted on his Facebook timeline that he endorsed and supported the activities of #RevolutionNow.

A Fulani socio-cultural association, Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Bauchi State chapter, has appealed to the state government to establish additional earth dams and expand grazing reserve areas in the state.

The state chairman of the association, Alhaji Muhammadu Hussaini, made the appeal when he interacted with reporters in Bauchi Sunday.

He said, “The additional earth dams and expansion of grazing reserve areas will curtail the clashes between farmers and cattle herdsmen and it will reduce movement of Fulani from one place to another in search of water and grazing

General Overseer of Soul Revival Ministry, Okpunoegbu, Umudim Nnewi, Anambra State, Pastor Iyke Uzukwu, has raised the alarm that Nnewi community might soon face a security challenge if the rumour making rounds that Fulani herdmen had bought a piece of land for settlement at an area called Ugwuakpati Ozu is true.

Uzukwu raised the alarm after his ministration yesterday saying that if the herders were found with dangerous weapons within Nnewi axis “they will be roundly confronted.

“There is a rumour going on now, around the town that Fulani herdsmen have bought a portion of land in Nnewi within Ugwuakpati Ozu area. Nnewi people should be at alert.

Davido’s father, Adedeji Adeleke’s house on Esther Adeleke street in Lekki, Lagos state was gutted by fire today July 17th. According to an eyewitness, the fire started this afternoon at about 1pm at the pent house of the building.

The fire service officials were alerted and they were able to quickly put out the fire before it spread to other sections of the house. No casualty was recorded in the incident.

Tragedy struck in the sleepy community of Ndiowu, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State when a former worker of the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), Mrs. Chiadii Ahanonu, was struck d**d over suspected indebtedness to a powerful shrine to the tune of N90, 000.


It was gathered that the deceased had given out her only son as collateral for the loan from the shrine for her family’s upkeep in 2014 when she was redeployed to the state ministry. It was revealed that the deceased had promised to repay the loan as soon as the state government offset the 16 months arrears owed affected staff between 2013 and 2016, but couldn’t fulfill her promise after five years, thereby incurring the wrath of the deity.

When newsmen visited the family house, the deceased daughter, Elizabeth, aged 13, was wailing uncontrollably.

“My mother told us that she borrowed N90, 000 from the shrine to pay our school fees, because since our father died, we have been living from hand to mouth and there was nobody to assist her.

“She became perplexed when her job at ABS was unstable due to some government changes and she borrowed that money in my JS2. She told us that Obiano would pay them the salary owned them. My mother died out of frustration and hardship.

A female American Pastor, Daphne Patoir, has made a sensational claim on YouTube about controversial Nigerian Pastor, T.B. Joshua.

She insisted she saw the Nigerian cleric ‘in Heaven’ where she was taken during a vision.

Responding to a video alleging Joshua’s ‘powers’ were demonic, Pastor Daphne Patoir shared her ‘Heavenly experience’.

“On Tuesday January 2nd, 2018, I was crying out to God because I wanted to be a follower of Jesus… to serve Him with my whole heart,” she recounted.

“Suddenly, it was as if my body was a barrel and I had fallen to the bottom of the barrel and Jesus replaced me, in my body. I was conscious that my body was sitting in the chair, in our room. We were flying at the speed of lightning,” she added.

The American – who ministers in Georgia with her husband Raynard – explained that she saw multiple ‘demons’ who were screaming out in fear as they seemed like ‘roaches’ before the ‘Holy One’.

“I lost control of my body. I remembered crying and telling Jesus that I was a simple girl from a small town and that the mystery was too much for me,” she vividly described, describing how the experience significantly solidified her faith.



“At lightning speed, Jesus took me into a room passed the second Heaven. As we entered, I saw three gift boxes. One had my name on it, the second one was given to a pastor I know and respect and the third one was given to T.B. Joshua. I saw T.B. Joshua in Heaven receiving a huge gift box,” she remarkably revealed.

Pastor Daphne said Jesus told her to ‘fear not’ when she pleaded that she wished to return to her body.

How would you react to the statement credited to Alhaji Mohammed Abdulrahman in his recent interview with Sunday Sun that it would be impossible for any Southern Christian to be president of the country?

Was Olusegun Obasanjo not president? Was Goodluck Jonathan not president? So, why can’t others emerge? If somebody sits in one corner of Nigeria and just be making noise and you people (media) will just be taking him seriously… Both Obasanjo and Jonathan have been Christian presidents, so what makes him think that no other Christian can emerge? Is he God? We have had Christians that have been presidents….Was Gowon not a Christian Head of State? So, what makes him think he knows the mind of God? What is the meaning of that? He probably does not understand the dynamics of Nigeria. He is just saying his own thing, he is just saying his opinion, it cannot be substantiated, he has not facts. It is the votes that will count, he that is talking has only one vote, I am sure he doesn’t understand what is at play. It is serious politics and if you have a shallow mind you will not understand what is going to play out. So, it’s big politics, not somebody just in one corner of a place and just wants to be in the news. When you get to the football pitch you see thousands of spectators, but only 22 players are in the field doing the job, others will be clapping, shouting, doing all kinds of things, but real actions are in the field of play with the 22 players. So, whatever you call his name he may just be one of the spectators in Nigeria’s politics, the real actors are doing their permutations and calculations and when we get to the bridge we will cross it. You know talk is very cheap, you can say whatever you want to say, but the real action is out there and big players know what is involved. He is at liberty to say what he is saying. Everybody is at liberty in a democracy to say whatever, anything the person likes. When the chips are down then we talk about the realities on the ground. It will begin to manifest itself, left and right, front and back, up and down. It is then you know those that are men. It’s not everybody that talks that should be given attention because some want to attract cheap popularity.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday signed the Agreement Establishing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) at the opening of the 12th Extraordinary Session of the Assembly of AU Heads of State and Gov on #AfCFTA in Niamey, Niger.

His personal assistant (photography), Sunday Aghaeze, made the disclosure on Twitter.

He posted photos of the president signing the agreement.

Buhari had approved the recommendations of the Presidential Committee on the Impact and Readiness Assessment of the African Continental Free Trade Area, AfCFTA, agreement.

Garba Shehu, his spokesman, in a statement last Wednesday, said the president would be signing the Phase one of the agreement in the course of his attendance at the Mid-Year Coordination Meeting of the African Union and 12th Extraordinary Summit on AfCFTA in Niamey, Niger Republic in a few days.

The Female students who complained to our Enugu Correspondent about a Robber who walked into their hostel robbed them of their phones and walked out without the Hostel security coming to their rescue despite their screams.

According to our source, early this Morning, around 2 am, the robber came into Sacred heart hostel robbed and them of their belongings.

“When he was leaving our Hostel, we were screaming on top of our voices, non of the hostel security men came answered, ” She said.

Those who say Olusegun Obasanjo changed Nigerian culture forever between 1999 and 2007 have very good reason to say so. Members of the House of Representatives are currently in a rowdy session over the declaration of who becomes the lower chamber’s minority leader.

The rowdy session followed the Speaker’s decision to abandon a letter by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nominating Kingsley Chinda as Minority Leader.

The PDP is the largest minority party in the House.

The speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, went ahead to announce Ndidi Elumelu as Minority Leader which culminated in a protest by members of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) has rejected the request by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the last presidential election, Atiku Abubakar for opportunity to re-argue a motion by the All Progressives Congress (APC), seeking the dismissal of the petition.

The tribunal had on June 11, 2019 ruled that the petitioners – PDP and Atiku had no response to the motion by the APC, on the grounds that they failed to file a counter-affidavit.

The Senate on Wednesday set up a committee to probe the alleged assault of a lady by Senator Elias Abbo in May.

The Senior Special Assistant to Anambra State Governor on Vigilante Matters Ikechukwu Aduba, has Sent a strong warning to Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, MACBAN, on plans of establishing vigilante group in the state.

Aduba, who is the state’s Chairman of Vigilante Supervisory Committee, said the state would apply legal means to stop MACBAN should they establish vigilante group in the state and in South East in general.

He made the statement in Onitsha during the funeral ceremony of Chief Anthony Iwenjiora, father-in-law to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar.

Aduba went on to assure the poeple that they won’t resort to violence or fire-for-fire approach in resisting the move.

He said: “Miyetti Allah should go to their own home to set up vigilantes because we can’t allow that here in Igbo land.”

“They can also go to other African countries like Senegal, Togo, Benin Republic, Ghana, among others to establish it.”
