Jboy121: My brother Australia are really denying Nigerians student visa guess they’ve flagged us. Even me wey get children and wife over there they never grant me my partner visa 309 for almost 2 years now. From personal observation, partner visas tend to have much longer processing timeframes. However, for student visas, there appears to be more leniency in approvals since the recent post-election period. Immigration policy is often used as a political tool and usually becomes a major focus during election cycles, which can directly affect visa grant rates. That said, judging by recent trends, the current government seems more favourable toward immigration compared to the opposition. The key is to maintain a positive mindset, ensure your documentation is solid, and make sure all requirements are properly met — cross all your T’s and dot your I’s. |

ItsSmile: Hello everyone, I’m making enquiries on behalf of my brother (20 years in 2026). He’s currently in his final year studying Computer Science at Igbenedion University (Nigeria) He plans to go for his masters in Australia. Does anyone have any advice on the schools? Or programs in high demand or any advice in general Program choice should be guided primarily by his long-term career plans and post-study intentions. He should first look at the different career pathways available to computer science graduates in Australia and compare them with current and projected PR occupation lists. From there, he can align his study plan strategically. At 20, he has time on his side and can thrive in many tech career paths. That said, Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence are currently strong market directions in Australia, but they are not the only viable options. Software engineering, data science, cloud computing, and IT business analysis are also in demand. For visa and PR success, it’s important that his master’s program shows logical academic progression from his bachelor’s degree and is supported by a clear career motivation and foundational experience. Immigration officers look closely at whether the course makes sense for his background and future goals. In short, he should decide what matters most to him: Career outcome University ranking Visa strength PR pathway Then reverse-engineer his choice from there. If he plans carefully, Australia is a very good option for Computer Science graduates. |

Munayh: I applied for Charles sturt to study agric and I got this response from them. Please what do you think is the problem. I don’t have an ielt, I work with idp agent for the MSc admission.
Please which agency is swift, seems like IDP is very slow. Is it still possible to secure an admission and a study visa for feb/march session if I should start reapplying from today Your agent should have informed you that IELTS is mandatory. Even if a school accepts you without IELTS, Home Affairs will not grant your visa without it. I would suggest that you take the IELTS and then apply again. Perhaps plan realistically for May or June, although I have heard of visa grants being issued within a month or two recently. Please don’t apply to just any course—do your research, show genuine interest, and demonstrate a logical career progression. Also, plan ahead for what happens after your studies. If you don’t prefer IDP, you might try AECC Global, but to be honest, agents have a lot on their plate, so you will need to follow up a lot. You can make their life easier by preparing all the documents ahead. Good luck! |

Efetobore1980: Hello Fuego07. It is not a new policy but a new awakening from the US embassy. Consulars have heard too many same stories of coming back to take higher position and having worked for many years in a particular company or organisation. Both qualified and unqualified F1-visa applicants says almost the same, hence the US embassy does not want to deny the innocent unnecessarily (like B4) by now verifying (placing you on 221g) the trend. Good LucK. It is probably also because of the course is IT related and on the Technology Alert List. I am no sure but I would say Congratulations in Advance to the candidate |

Reapply, next time start with you as sponsor then ypur sister then you add tuition assistance. Explain how you saved 10k if asked as well. Try again, I don't think you did anything substantially wrong...it happens sometimes
By the way your school is affordable imo 22k including licong expenses not bad Thank you so much for the encouragement, I will reapply. Just wondering if the procedure is the same as when I did my first application . I have requested for a deferral and new I-20. |

Thanks for your comment, I appreciate you highlighting this. |

Hello people,
Congratulations to the successful applicants and gratitude to all the people making efforts to be part of another person's success story.
I've followed this thread for the past few weeks and soaked in as much as I can. However, I need some clarification about sponsorship. Most suggestions imply the need for scholarship to increase successful visa application.
I have admission for spring, funding from my sibling, and my interview is next month. However, I'm curious as to what qualifies for a solid funding , if someone is being sponsored by family member, would that not be acceptable too?
Any input will be much appreciated. |

For students sponsored by their family member, i am finding out even schools no longer give COE because of rejection from embassy. It appears Siblings can no longer be thr major financial sponsor. So basically, it has to be your parents. Question becomes;what will happen to people without parents or retired pensioners. How can they be major sponsors if one or two siblings can comfortably sponsor the applicant. Everywhere don tight. This is for those preparing their application. Please ensure the majority of yoir funds comes from your parents. At this rate, people hoping to be sponsored by their uncle is a no go. What do you think the applicant should do if the school is requesting that the parents and not siblings shouod be the major sponsor? Any suggestions please link up with me. |

penitential: To be very honest, it’s kind of trickery.
If you will want to convert the money into investment certificate, you’ll have to show a statement that shows the origin of the money into the mutual fund investment account.
Also, you’ll have to show the source of the money into your account that goes to the investment account.
I’ve not seen someone that use fixed deposit certificate, only one person I saw was denied.
Also, fixed deposit is well different from investment certificate and the differences may be why the applicant was denied.
Lastly, your sibling will have to show proofs of the money in the don account .
Why, is because, embassy want to see the flow and not just the chunk.
The flow is what gives them the information if the account is ‘healthy enough’ to sponsor you. Bro is there a chance that I can send you an email to guide me arrange this documents. Here is my email. Nelsonvedo4@gmail.com. Please leave me a shout, i would appreciate. |

penitential: You can use a domicile account!
But before you use a domicillary account, be sure you can explain the source of the money inside the don account. If not, don’t use it.
Even if you’re using a naira account, you must be able to show the source of the money in the account.
20,000 USD, please convert it to Aud, know how much it is. Ensure it’s up to 60,000Aud before you proceed. Therefore, 20,000 USD, won’t be enough as POF. Bro thanks for your input, I really need to figure out a way to present my case without complications. The deposit into the dom account is from my sibling who lives abroad. I was thinking that would come under a gift deed or do you suggest a fixed investment deposit instead. Should i go ahead to use the dom acct, does it imply that my sibling would have to present statement of acct to show the source of fund. More importantly, in the event that i choose to convert it into an investment certificate, can i present myself as self sponsor when in the real sense the money is coming from my siblings. Thank you as you find time to respond to me. Remain blessed! My regards to everyone sharing their knowledge and expertise. Ps: Anybody with experience on how to prep POF and detail the source should please message me. |
