19 governors from Northern Nigeria yesterday Friday met at late Gen. Hassan Katsina House, Kaduna and inaugurated a committee to identify the sponsors of Boko Haram with a view of prosecuting them. Speaking at the inauguration,Chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum and Governor of Borno State, Alhaji Kashim Shettima said the days of Boko Haram insurgents are numbered considering how Nigerian troops are attacking them presently.Speaking further,he said the sect members have been dislodged from majority of their camps in north eastern Nigeria due to the superior firepower of the Nigerian troops. He also added that the Committee has two months to carry out its assignment and would be under the umbrella of Committee of Attorneys-General and Commissioners of Justice of the 19 northern states and will also review the criminal justice system in the North. Shettima also said the inauguration of the committee is important considering the problems of terrorisms, armed robbery, cattle rustling, kidnapping and many more presently facing the northern states. Also speaking,he added that the committee would look into parents, who, because of one reason or the other, sacrifice their children as suicide bombers.According to him, such parents must face the wrath of the law. He concluded by saying .... “The Committee should also look at the condemnable activities of the so called sponsors of the insurgency and come up with legally pragmatic, appropriate and proportionate punishment".
