Love is blind, they say, but in 2016, i've come to realise that there are some things that seem laughable to me, well I should use the word "awkward" or "weird", depending on which suits you, and one of such things is Why I think Asking a girl out through social media is totally not cool.

Please be aware that all what i've written here is as a result of past experiences and me just being realistic. I wouldn't reply anyone that wants to feel funky on my thread. Now sit back and enjoy your popcorn.

1. You never know what she is up to


Hell yes!. You two tell each other sweet words, you chat day and night, you call each other, but here is the thing, in actual sense, she doesn''t have feelings for you, never have, and never will.. she's out there, going on dates, cooking for a male friend, probably hanging her legs 180 degrees for people like obontami , kissing that dude who escorts her to her house in the night, and here you are, forming all lovey dovey on social media, you two haven't met! She calls you sweet names, you waste your money on airtel, mtn, glo, sending her recharge card, sending her Lil amounts of money... but yet, you two haven't met! How much more foolish could you be? You can call me slow, whatever, buh what I will never do is to ask a lady out who i've not met! It's stvpid, infact, silly, crazy or whatever name u wish to call it.




2: You have no idea about what she looks like



You fell in love with mere pictures! Not an actual human being. At this stage of your life, you should understand that pictures decieve. She might have knock kneels, she might have a bow-leg, she might not be as you programmed how she'd look like in your head, how the fvck then do u now think you as literate adult in your right senses to profess your love for her? Cmon let's be realistic for once. OK let me not sound like as if i'm hell bent on the ladies, even you as a lady, you think you have a crush on him right? Have sense for once, he might have a pot belly, he might be a cultist, he might be a pervert, he might be a serial rapist, whichever the case, never you ever ever profess you love for someone you haven't met physically. I know you enjoy his or company, but hey, calm down, take it easy. Be patient, you two will soon meet. Only after you two have met you can actually decide if you wish to go on with the love you have for him or her.





3: Because it sounds funny.


I've been a fool once, look i"ve never met this girl in actual sense, infact she was the one who wooed me.. as we progressed in the "fake love" she started making demands. And I being stvpid back then sent her money from Tim to time. I'm damn serious. Look, i've not sent my sister money, it's girl i"ve not met I will be sending money. God was seriously laughing at my naivety. When we finally met, it turned out that she is a confirmed Ashawo! If you ask me how I got to know, you are a dumb fool as I was then. That day, I ended the "fake relationship" we had. Good riddance to bad rubbish. I rather send money now to my sister than to Send money to someone who I haven't seen.




4: Because I feel it's not right to ask a Girl out on social media



Well my first three points were based on the negative side, actually I feel it's not right to ask a girl out on social media. Some ladies have actually given me the greenlight to just pop the question buh I tell them we should see first. If I ask a girl out on social media, then it means I won't take you seriously. Just as we started the relationship on whatsapp, or nairaland, or BBM, so it will end on whatsapp, nairaland or BBM. I gotta be honest.. if I truly value you, i"d walk up to you in person and say it vocally.




5: you never know if the person at the other end is truly what she says she is.



Well, so many times, I think a lot of male nairalanders have fallen victim on this. The girl you think you are crushing on might just be a hoax. Yes! A guy may be the person operating on that account, then you stvpidly ask "her" out, you stvpidly think "she" is real because you called and the smart dude gave the phone to a girl to answer making you believe "she" is real. Let's take nairaland for example, The only time you"ll be certain that someone is really behind her female moniker is when you two have met, and you require her to log into her nairaland account and you observe she is really who she says she is online.




Those who are in the same school of thought with me should share their views as well on the subject matter, I may be wrong, I may be right, but it's just the way I've grown to see it as it is.
