Thanks for the review. You are very fortunate

diordaves:
There is the misconception among homeowners mostly that you can build cheaply. The truth is building a house is never cheap; any how or any way or the type of structure you are putting up, the truth is this won't be cheap to cross the finish line.

It is this misconception that mostly underscore problems between homeowners and contractors/suppliers. Homeowners tend to massively underestimate the amount of details, time, materials, labour cost and professional fee(s) involved in the execution of projects. This is why when we homeowners ask for quote, almost always that quote falls well above our expectation in monetary terms and then we cry fraud. To be honest, sometimes there is no fraud or attempted fraud in some quotes - it may just be the reality; building is not cheap. There are genuine professionals out there both contractors and suppliers that will deliver exactly the quality of product asked for without stealing from the client.

I've just finished my latest project and had to contract the services of Gbadexy and ThatHistoryGuy both here on Nairaland property section. In this forum, we kick against adverts from contractors and suppliers and at the same time we homeowners including myself criticize a lot contractors and suppliers stealing from clients - this is also true. So in the grand scheme of things we don't give contractors/suppliers enough space to showcase their integrity here and get good references where applicable.

I did a multi million triangular business with Gbadexy and ThatHistoryGuy - from London - Lagos - Warri. We never met, I don't know these suppliers in person but I must say it is only fair to give them good reference here. I was in Lagos for a better part of the finishing but I never bothered to meet them in person. This was as a result of the relatively smooth process of the transactions and the delivery of the products to Warri. I must say both were professional in conduct and the quality of the products paid for and delivered met expectation.

Gbadexy

Supplied ALL paint from priming to final coat. The choice of colour(s) is mine, but quality is by Gbadexy. This was excellent. Logistic (delivery) from Lagos to Warri was very satisfactory. Communication, negotiation and planning from the UK was good this included exchanges on whatsapp photos and samples. I didn't notice any cry for data as is often the case with Nigeria home base. See photos.

We are not complaining but providing feedback that can help him grow his brand if he care to listen.

No matter how good you think you are, if you don't treat people right, others will come up and take your place and to get a reverse will be difficult cos you may have build a long list of dissatisfied customers
@Diehard I couldn't agree more. What you said is spot on and I have told Skimanski this several times. The lack of regular comms/updates is especially frustrating because I am not on ground. It's a real challenge!!

@Obosa1 I've reached out to @skimanski just in case something is going on. I apologize that this is sharpening but it is an anomaly.
Thank you @Egun. Much appreciated. I hope this lack of comms issue is resolved asap.

@Skimanski - why won't you take calls from or respond to WhatsApp messages from the owner of a house you are contracted to complete and paid for 99% and fully mobilised ? But you have the time to come to nairaland and update the public!

You repeatedly ignore my calls and simple requests for updates via WhatsApp but you post updates of my project on nairaland for non paying public! I can't get my head around this.

PropertiesRe: Rain Gutter Installation: Do You Need To Install Roof Gutters? by Obosa1: 10:06am On Jul 18, 2018
@Raincache, I want to publicly commend you for a job well done on my Benin project. I came across your details on nairaland about 2 weeks ago. I called from disapora and we negotiated terms and conditions. I was very sceptical about making payment to someone I haven't met or thoroughly vetted.

But your attitude and approach was exceptional. You allayed my concerns and went on to complete the installation of water collector on my property within 3-4 days instead of the 1 week you committed to. Product and installation warranty you provided at the end of the job without me chasing. You provided daily progress updates with pictures without any prompting from me. In fact I am more than satisfied with your delivery and attitude I felt the need to leave this public review.

I pray you continue on this path and continue to be a person of integrity. Your gift will make room for you. God bless you.

This review is from a silent nairaland and unsolicited. I believe good people should be encouraged.

Sometimes I'm shocked at my own tolerance. This is clearly something that I'll go to small claims court on over here grin

I'm purposefully halting my main house because of things like this. I've made a mandate to myself that no work will be done in that one unless I am on the ground from start to finish and can be onsite daily to personally supervise.

Thankfully, this is in my garage so I can afford to "comot eye for am" but it's still shocking.
Very wise decision. Even our top rated builders in this property section of Nairaland have a way of disappointing and frustrating a project despite charging premium for supposed top quality.

Seems the finishing of this house is taking forever. Yet builders will say they can finish a house in 6 months if funds are readily made available. I am interested to know the reasons for the delay on this project @Skimanski.

Oga Hajji M,

I am a silent follower of Nairaland property section and engaged one of the most highly recommended builder in the property section.

We recently ran into issues which I am trying to resolve peacefully and amicably but it seems I am being taken for granted for not being based in Nigeria.

I would like to bring this issue to your attention Sir offline. Can I contact you?

Oga Hajji please say no more. I admire the support and encouragement you continue to give to most people regardless of whether household names or not.
You made the point on both political debate and advertisements. And this is well received and noted.

I am not going to start a prolonged argument with you on this because that is not my way...
All the guys you mentioned above, how many of them have seen dumping their advertisements here?
Why not try to follow the same OP from thread to thread and see what he has been doing there.
I am only participating 99.99% in Properties Forum and I do follow many threads...
Please follow his thread and let me know what you find out, he has been warned on other threads too.
If you were here when this thread was started... that is one of the main reason why we opened this thread with free advertisements.

Hello People,

I've been a silent follower of this thread for many months and learnt so much which has benefited my ongoing build.

Can we please keep our arguments and debate civil and not descend to name calling, insults or counter insults. I believe most people on this forum are adults, what do you actually gain by trading insults with a stranger?

You can agree to disagree and move on. You mustn't win every argument or debate especially when the people being supported don't care anyway.

Please guys let's share our experiences or ideas in a positive way. Its time to stop this back and forth insults. It serves no purpose and won't change anyone's mind on our political state of affairs.

Thank You
