Imo State Governor, Chief Emeka Ihedioha has said the state government applied to join the Open Government Partnership (OGP) as one of the ways of entrenching transparency in public service. Ihedioha, gave the explanation while receiving a delegation of the British High Commission to Nigeria recently, listed other governance reforms initiatives introduced by his administration to mainstream accountability in governance. Represented by the Deputy Governor, Engr. Gerald Irona, the Governor described Imo as an investment-friendly state, reiterating the commitment of his administration to partner international organizations in ensuring good governance in the state. “In Imo State, we are highly enterprising people investor-friendly. We have very huge potentials in tourism, agriculture and education. We inherited a state with decayed infrastructure and poor morale of citizens, occasioned by poor governance. Pensioners were owed for over eighty months and the Governor has now started paying. Governor Emeka Ihedioha has taken steps towards restoring public confidence in governance, with rule of law as a cardinal principle. “We met an Internally Generated Revenue- IGR base of N258 million monthly. His Excellency introduced reforms to entrench transparency and accountability in governance. Through Order 005, the Treasury Single Account -TSA was introduced and as a result, so many leakages in revenue have been blocked. Last month, we generated over N800m, as against N258m that we inherited as IGR.” “We are implementing the IPPC accounting standards. We have applied to join the Open Government Partnership-OGP, as one of our transparency initiatives. We are opening up the government for citizens’ scrutiny and participation. We have opened an Efficiency Unit in the Ministry of Finance, with a view to reducing the cost of governance. We are investment-friendly and the Governor has set up a desk for ease of doing business in the state. We seek investments in the areas of Power, Agriculture and Tourism. Imo State is willing and ready to partner with the DFID”, he stated. Earlier in her presentation, British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Catriona Laing said they were in the state to identify areas of possible support through the Department for International Development. “We are in your state to get a better understanding of what is on the ground, with a view to knowing how we can support governance in Imo State. We have programmes that will be beneficial to you. We also wish to understand the challenges you are facing in the state.”

Rochas, the Nigerian king of con men is about to scam people again using a university fully run, owned and taken over by the Imo State government. Again, we warn people not to fall for his gimmicks in order to get public sympathy for a failed presidential ambition that is already dead on arrival. The clown has been looking for ways to be on the news again after a battered, corrupt filled, filty image. |
Bigflamie:Road constructions during heavy rains are not advisable. Such an adventure would result to wastage and overshooting of initial budgets for such projects. That notwithstanding, the governor has quickly responded to critics whom want the governor to perform magic and turn the State into a Dubai in just 6 months amidst heavy rain showers. The road rehabilitation will go on at a much slower pace, making the roads motorable for commuters up until the rain stops for massive reconstruction. |

asha80:My sister, The board set up are not government officials, they are technocrats appointed to revitalise Adapalm and make recommendations. The Imo government is currently in talks with serious private investors on leasing of the operations of Adapalm. Thanks. |
IGBOSON1:Yes brother, A board has already been set up to that effect and would oversee the transition of a vast technical know-how and efficient management of the moribund Adapalm as well as other moribund industries in Imo. The best is yet to come! |

[quote author=senatordave1 post=83039631]The recent decision of the imo guber tribunal is the worst judgment i've ever seen.i dont know whether the judges were affected by the venue of the sitting which was at the fct high court notorious for spurious and ridiculous judgment.what is so hard in calculating two third of 27? Even a kindergarten knows that 2/3 of 27 is 18 and ihedioha only got 25% in just 13 lgas.this is a constitutional matter, tyey should have simply nullified the polls and called for a rerun between him and ugwumba.this is a simple matter. Mynd44 Meleszenawi Afamed Yarimo Sanchez Cid11 Fairfora Cry babies, i warned you and your ilk about the outcome at the tribunal but you die hard children of iberiberism never learn. |
otuekong1:Men of less IQ should stay off what they don't understand. You were so dumb to note that his mum could be from the so called Annang. What does a surname Nwoko mean in your Annang dialect?. I guess "Rotimi" in Amaechi's name is a core Ikwerre word too, and no his mum ain't Yoruba before you make another blunder, Dumbo! |
A little education for the ignorant.... Mr. Uwemedimo Nwoko is a Nigerian legal practitioner, politician, human rights activist and the current Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Akwa Ibom State. Nwoko was born on October 27, 1964 in Abiakana, in Ika Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. He is from an Igbo speaking part of Akwa-Ibom State. In December 2014, former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Chief Godswill Akpabio forwarded Nwoko's name to the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly for screening and eventual appointment as the state's Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice. On January 13, 2015, he was given the job. He became the 14th Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice of Akwa Ibom State. In mid-2015, he was re-appointed the state's Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice by the incumbent governor, Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel. |
Kagarko:Who is witch-hunting? Our hardworking governor at his inauguration promised to recover all Imo stolen assets from Okorocha the petty Kleptomaniac. If Ihedioha suceeds in other spheres of the issues bedeviling Imo and he doesn't succeed in recovering our assets from those petty thieves, he has failed. One of the major reasons he was voted in was because of his no nonsense stand to issues, as his word has always been his bond. Carry go omenkeahuruanya ndi Igbo. |
Ride on our amiable governor. |
Omenkeahuruanya Ndigbo our future President, carry go we dey your back. Whom the green cap fits, let him wear it. ![]() |
Nice one Governor Ihedioha. |
So whats your stupid point. Why the unneccessary masturbation over an unknown non-entity. A man who isn't even popular in his autonomous community talkless of his LGA. |

Lovelife433:You are in pains. ![]() Sorry you would have to lose your job as a sales person in one of these establishments. Again sorry ![]() |
This money miss road stupid governor is one of the weakest mumu ever, how can you allow your enemy emerge speaker. His incompetence would've been forgiven if he used his second term to destroy TA Orjis Dynasty in Abia, if that will be his only achievement. But no, he is probably too busy stealing money than playing real politics. If he is indeed wise, he must reach out to the likes of Alex Otti, Uche Ogah and even Orji Kalu now so as to join hands and cripple the "Ishi Mbe" Dynasty now or Abia will be finished for life. Ndi Ngwa should prevail on their governor to receive some sense walahi! |
Obama scam tactics, he will still fail ![]() |
