bilms: Another Female law graduate vow to attend call to bar with hijab next year http://mrrightsng..com.ng/2017/12/another-female-law-graduate-vow-to.html
Following the refusal of Nigeria Law School to call Miss Firdaus Amasa to bar for refusing to take off her hijab last week, another female law graduate from University of Ilorin, Laylah Al-Mubarakah has vow to attend the same programme next year with her hijab on.
The father of the lady, Alhaji Abubakar Aliagan, a lecturer in the university of Ilorin went to social media to announce the resolve of his daughter in solidarity with Firdaus. He stated that, ''MY DAUGHTER, EVEN IF AM NOT ALIVE AND THE MATTER IS NOT RESOLVED........YOU RECEIVE MY BLESSINGS........IN THE LIKE MANNER THE FATHER OF FIRDAUS IS NOT DISTURBED''
Alhaji ABubakar Aliagan wrote on his facebook page as follows:
Firdaus Amasa is a daughter of a dear friend. She was not call to bar because she was adamant on her Islamic mode of dress. She was a year ahead of my daughter at the Faculty of law, University of Ilorin. When her courageous father, Mallam Oba Amasa, came to my house ( he sometimes pray the SALAT in my mosque) to break the news to me, my only regret is that Firdaus was left alone in this struggle. How I wish my daughter is there this year to stand behind her.
Whether this matter is settled amicably in the court or not, my daughter, LAYLAH AL-MUBARAKÀH, has vowed to be the next victim. She wrote the following lines in her blog.................
Reading the news that our courageous sister, Amasa Al jannah Fidaos was not called to the Nigerian bar because she refused to remove her hijab brought tears to my eyes. Is Fidaos the only muslim lawyer out there? Others should have joined her. I wish there were more muslim females like her. To some you may think what she has done is rebellious. But to me it is courageous and she has maintained her stand as a muslim.
Imagine this, A girl has been brought up in the way ordained by Allah right from her birth, she has been wearing the hijab from then, She has never for once remove her hijab just for the sake of being called to bar she has to remove it. Removing the Hijab is being naked.
I have been asked several times that will i remove my hijab when i am to be called to Nigerian Bar? I always answer that I dont know. But Now, I have my answer, Amasa al jannah firdaos has provided the answer.
The constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria particularly Chapter 4, Section 38 (1) of the 1999 constitution and Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Right, provide:“Every person shall be entitled to freedom of thought, conscience and religion, including freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom (either alone or in community with others, and in public or in private) to manifest and propagate his religion or belief in worship, teaching, practice and observance.” Is denying her entrance in to the hall because she is wearing the hijab not an infringement on her right to practise her religion?
To Firdaos, you were our Ameerah in National Association of Muslim Law Students Unilorin Chapter and you led us well, When you were the Ameerah, through your humility and selflessness you inspired me to be like you . Now you have laid the foundation to justice and i pray and hope your efforts will be acknowledged. I celebrate you and to me you are a Legend.
This is a wake up call to every muslim in Nigeria, to fight for this injustice and use the position and power the Almighty has bestowed on you all to fight for this injustice.
MY DAUGHTER, EVEN IF AM NOT ALIVE AND THE MATTER IS NOT RESOLVED........YOU RECEIVE MY BLESSINGS........IN THE LIKE MANNER THE FATHER OF FIRDAUS IS NOT DISTURBED ........

JoeArmsD1: I have said it before and it bears repeating now, the day Ndigbo and the Yoruba decide to bury the very destructive but senseless rivarly between them and forge a common front on issues of common interest, that is the day the #TheChildrenOfTheSouth and indeed the whole of Nigeria will experience a new dawn.
I have always waited for this day and as it would seem, 11th January, 2018, appers to be the day my long wait will take its last breathe for that is the day these two great peoples will gather in Enugu in celebration of their age long but almost forgotten brotherhood in a historic event tagged “HANDSHAKE ACROSS THE BRIDGE” being put together by an Igbo socio-cultural group -NZUKO UMUNNA (The Bridge Builder) under the auspices of the two Apex socio-cultural groups of both Peoples, Ohaneze Ndigbo and Afenifere.
It is the day the ‘Who-Is-Who’ from both sides will come together to re-ignite the unique bond examplified by their two brave sons, late General Aguyi Ironsi, the former Head of state and Col. Adekunle Fajuyi, the former governor of SouthWestern region who were both murdered in cold blood by disgruntled soldiers in the counter coup of 1966.
But beyond the euphoria of the expected brotherly HandShake between these two great Nations, the question is, was there any justifiable reason for unhealthy rivalry between them in the first place?
Has there been any record of tribal war, clashes or any form of direct ethnic confrontation between Ndigbo and the Yoruba? (The answer is No)
So why the destructive competition rather than constructive collaboration??
For ages, numberless generation of young people from both sides have been fed with the wrong account of the Civil war, an account that is replete with cherry-picked quotes, facts and figures, self-serving selectives, a basket of distortions, mis-representation, mis-quotation and mis-interpretation.
For instance, those who wish to keep us divided will always feed an average Onye-Igbo with the devilish propaganda that The Yorubas starved Igbo kids during the war while Ndigbo attacked Lagos, Yoruba-land, in a land-grabbing quest. And with these distorted war histories, our children will grow up inheriting a mutual antagonism while our region and our people will keep wallowing in socio-political/economic Egypt.
How about telling a Yoruba man that an Igbo man, Ojukwu, it was, who released Awolowo from Calabar Prison and sent a security team to escort him to his village?
How about telling an Igbo person that Adekunle Fajuyi, a Yoruba man, died with his guest, Aguyi Ironsi rather than give him up?
We owe it to both Man and God to put the wars and woes that happened five decades ago behind us and build a long-lasting mutually beneficial alliance in the interest of peace and economic emancipation of our two great peoples and the country in general. It is for this reason that I find this event as uniquely significant as it is strategically desirable. I say a very big Thank You to Mr Ngozi Odumuko-led NZUKO UMUNNA for conceiving and organizing such a landmark Bridge-Building event. And even a bigger Thank You to Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Uba-led Organizing Committee.
With the likes of Chief John Nnia Nwodo, the Ohaneze Ndigbo PG(the Chief host) and the Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti and the Publicity Scribe -Yinka Odumakin plus the Obi of Onitsha and Ooni of Ife as the Royal Fathers of the day, I have no doubt in my mind that our journey out of Egypt has just entered the next stage.

obailala: The yawa started long before the 97% statement, so quit trying to use that as a justification. A lot of GEJ supporters were very pissed off and bitter followinv the election results and that bitterness led to many things including the massive folllwership of ipob today. After the election, a lot of Gejites from the SE felt they were betrayed by the SW for supporting a northern candidate over a fellow southerner. Taunting names like 'Hausa slaves' and 'betrayers' are still being freely used today and it was purely out of the disgruntlement from the elections. Save that you 97% excuse for people that were born yestrday. so who started it |
