Car Talk › Re: Should Okada Be Banned In Nigeria? by Odeku(op): 1:22pm On Aug 10, 2006
seun here you go, how strange or coincidence, i posted this thread a week ago and bam some states are taking actions already. the key here is safety and security, not transportation

The Lagos State government yesterday imposed an immediate ban on commercial motorcyclists a.k.a Okada from operating in the state between the hours of 7pm and 6am.
Briefing newsmen in Ikeja, at the end of the State Weekly Executive Council Meeting, the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Dele Alake said the worsening security situation in the state informed the government decision.
He noted the state executive had to take the step to clamp down on okada riders whose operations have endangered lives and properties in the state.
“In recent time, the security report emanating from members of the public about Okada riders in the state has been alarming”, he said.
Alake said incidents of robbers using motorcycles to rob people of their belongings have given cause for concern in recent time.
He warned that any okada found operating during the period of ban would either have its okada impounded or made to pay a fine of N50,000, and the passenger would also be sanctioned.
By this directive, all security agencies including the police, the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA), and Neighbourhood Watch are to enforce the law by apprehending the violators.
Alake said government would not compromise the security of Lagosians, adding that update on the Okada menace will be made public as events unfold.
He called on members of the public to support government in its effort at ridding the state of crime, adding that the security situation and the ban will be reviewed from time to time.

Here we go again OBJ bashers, why can't you call a spade a spade, Obj is not the one protecting this governor, it's the law makers and the stupid national assemble stooges that make the law and include the immunity clause.

There were 2 coup during IBB regime, they were both smashed, I don't even like the guy, but he wasn't injured he came on TV the 3rd day and spoke to the nation, he was never captured or topple as all the paper then insinuated. they got close to him, but never actually had him, the news broke too early which was another mistake they made.

Lauryn babe one thing in life is you cant control who you fall in love with, but you can protect yourself by keeping your guards up, things happen in life that makes us strong and prepare us for the next endeavor, hold your head up high and the best way to get over someone is the next one. Go out boo have fun, do things that makes you smile and enjoy life. Holla at your boy.

It was all rumored that he was topple, he was killed, and yes his ADC was killed in the coup. remember the 1st general to address the nation was Abacha and domkart Bali after the coup. Babangida was in hidding giving directives just like any leader or president in distress would. this man is not just your average Joe general, he is wise, cunning and evil, and should not be taken lightly, my question is what if Buhari win the election as the next president, will he then retaliate against IBB and try to expose his, remember IBB topple Buhari/Idiagbon regime, so we will see.
Nairaland General › Re: Stop Emailing Strangers Nairaland Members by Odeku(op): 4:02am On Aug 09, 2006
Eurphoria thank you for been supportive of my view, some people are so shallow minded in Nigeria and abroad that no matter what you say or do, they stick to their primitive way of thinking. just because my email and other members email is posted doesn't mean you can bombard me or solicit help from a total stranger. Prime example, you don't just go to peoples house uninvited in a civilized environment you don't go knocking on someones door in a strange neighborhood because their name and address is on their mail box, except you are Jehovah's witness.

people are so quick to jump to conclusion, no matter what happen or what she did. Only her and her boss know why she is no longer there, so just be happy we have a replacement. Its reality you disobey your boss or don't get along with your boss you will loose your job i don't care if its government or in banking. that is the fact of life.

Remember she was displaced of her position after OBJ came back from visiting the slain Williams family, I just wish OBJ gave a public explanation for his action, and as for IBB case, my HERO FELA said once when trouble sleep yanga go wake am, Pa-lava he go get, make IBB come back, this might be the retribution and time for justice, look at Charles Taylor.

It happened at the Denver Airport. This is hilarious. I wish I had the guts of this girl. For all of you out there who've had to deal with an irate customer, this one is for you. An award should go to the United Airlines gate agent in Denver for being smart and funny, while making her point, when confronted with a passenger who probably deserved to fly as cargo.

A crowded United Airlines flight was canceled. A single agent was re-booking a long line of inconvenienced travelers. Suddenly an angry passenger pushed his way to the desk. He slapped his ticket on the counter and said, "I HAVE to be on this flight and it has to be FIRST CLASS." The agent replied, "I am sorry, sir. I'll be happy to try to help you, but, I've got to help these folks first, and I'm sure we'll be able to work something out."

The passenger was unimpressed. He asked loudly, so that the passengers behind him could hear, "DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHO I AM?"

Without hesitating, the agent smiled and grabbed her public address microphone, "May I have your attention please, " she began, her voice heard clearly throughout the terminal. "We have a passenger here at Gate 14 WHO DOES NOT KNOW WHO HE IS. If anyone can help him find his identity, please come to Gate 1 4."

With the folks behind him in line laughing hysterically, the man glared at the United agent, gritted his teeth and swore "F*** You!". Without flinching, she smiled and said, I'm sorry sir, you'll have to get in line for that too."
