This is exactly where the southwest are selling themselves short - because they are so accommodating, they allow other tribes to troop to Lagos, Ibadan, Osogbo & co. After a while, these immigrants begin to start trying to Lord it over their hosts and even challenging their ways of life.

Imagine if this thread had been about Tinubu or Osoba having their daughters/sons made judges of high courts by governors they installed. Imagine it. By now all hell will be let loose from fake activists and sons of hate whose main goal is to bring down everything good in the southwest even though they don’t ever raise a voice when useless governors and politicians in their backyards are doing bad governance and looting their treasury.

Look at all of them here celebrating and congratulating Odili. They have forgotten their so called activism which is very fake.

It is sad that nairaland had turned to thrash.

All these paid/sponsored posts don’t cut it at all, especially when paid minions are already readied beforehand to start commenting on the thread and praising the person in the enormously edited and airbrushed photos.

I used to actively seek out any YouTube movies which had Iyabo Ojo in them. I’d watch them just because she’s there. Like most people, I lost all respect for her after the Baba Ijesha saga.

Iyabo Ojo did that case great injustice with her involvement. Before she got involved, everyone that I know and every commentator all called for the most severe kind of punishment for Baba Ijesha because of the very despicable alleged act, but with the manner of Iyabo Ojo’s involvement, most started having sympathies for Baba Ijesha (and still do). That’s a great disservice to that little girl who’s the one everyone should be concerned about.

From wanting to watch anything Iyabo Ojo, Odunlade, etc, now I change the channel immediately anything Iyabo Ojo comes up - I don’t watch to watch.

The politicians and traditional rulers, instead of saying no to the IPOB/UGM goons were encouraging and playing popularity contests so that IPOB people will like them.

They are not perfect (no one is) but they are very different from all the shameless one-day-one-drama yeyebrities that largely make up Nigeria’s entertainment industry today.

You know for a difference: young guys crush on Joke Silva, Genevieve, Omotola & co and “marry” them in their heads because they admire them.

On the other hand, boys crush on the useless yeyebrities that fill up the place nowadays for sexual reasons because they see them first as hoes than as entertainers.

***Calls On Youths To Seek Political Literacy

Platform for Liberty and Democracy (PLIDE) has identified the peculiarities of the Nigerian politics and urged the electorates, more especially the youths, to be politically enlightened and shun all forms of temporary gratifications at the expense of viable, long-term developmental goals that must be reflected in party manifestos and ideologies of candidates.

In a meeting held recently at Ikeja Lagos, a clear-cut difference was also made between being an educated person and being politically literate; two terms used interchangeably but are as different as day is to darkness.

In the meeting, it was observed that both are indispensable experience relevant for political sagacity and necessary for making informed decisions during elections.

The peculiarities were noted to be some of the obstacles militating against the growth of democracy and making it hard for the citizens to realize the sheer strength of their voting powers in deciding who to represent them in the various political positions.

It was noted that if these hitches were not confronted headlong with effective solutions, the nation would remain fettered for want of good representatives in government and thus, continue to writhe and be deprived of benefiting true democratic dividends.

Foremost among the peculiarities is the rampant poverty which the ruling elites have weaponized in order to keep the masses in perpetual captivity and are deprived of the basic necessities of life.

As a result, instead of finding answers to the pervasive poverty, politicians have resorted to exploiting the situation for selfish interest by offering cash for votes.

However, after the electorates have been baited with meager sum, they are then subjected to total neglect by the politicians.

“It is baffling on how the electorates forget about good manifestos, effective and workable plans of candidates after collecting money from visionless candidates on the eve of election in Nigeria,” says Tope Adebayo.

He added that, “This is due to stark electoral illiteracy which is different from being a university graduate, vote buying through cash and the offering of gift items known as stomach infrastructure have become norms which have been successfully used in some South-western states as evidenced by recent gubernatorial elections.”

The erstwhile gubernatorial candidate in Ekiti state spoke further, saying “spreading money within few days of elections sways votes.

"The God that our people serve is money. Why is it so?

"Lack of political awareness.

"I sincerely urged people not to sell their votes that would put a bad politician in office for as long as four years for a meager five thousand Naira or for whatever amount.

"Stomach infrastructure has thrived because the electorates are ignorant of the weight of their voting mandate.”

The group therefore called on relevant government agencies responsible for public enlightenment such as the National Orientation Agency (NOA) to give political education to the masses so they are aware of what to expect from political aspirants.

“Government must educate the voters on what to expect of politicians during campaigns, on why they don’t need to collect money or opt for stomach infrastructure instead of planning ahead for the future.” Ope Allen added.

Other features of the Nigerian political landscape as observed by PLIDE include: massive cost of publicity during elections which gives the moneybags a matchless advantage; political apathy by the people a progressive would want to save; and a dangerous mindset on the invincibility of the two existing political parties, a mindset that requires urgent redress.

Also weighing in, the protem chairman of PLIDE, Tunde Feyi Owoseni, noted that “before anyone would seek to liberate the people, he should have first liberated himself and his family members while adding that, PLIDE is a pro-democracy and human rights movement dedicated to good governance, transparency and accountability, social justice, equitable distribution of national wealth and resources, respect for basic and fundamental human rights, true fiscal and structural federalism, opening up of the political space to involve youths, the disabled, trade unions, the female gender, etc.

PLIDE resolved to actively engage the electorate in the run-up to the 2019 elections, on the important matter of adequately and dispassionately interrogating the programs and manifestos of candidates for political offices as well as the political platforms (parties) sponsoring them.

The Platform for Liberty & Democracy (PLIDE), restates it’s determination to build a veritable ideological platform which will give voice and purpose to the aspirations of Nigerians who desire a country where Social Justice and Egalitarianism are core foundational principles in the quest to build a nation where peace and justice shall reign.

Adah really mades some beautiful points but she should've stopped at where the real deal was addressed but here going further would makes people of influence not to support such a clip. In fact Kemi can sue Adah if care is not taking and Adah can proved guilty of such clip.

Having interacted extensively with Nigerians from all major tribal groups comprising Nigeria in 2021, I have only encountered an insignificant few Yoruba individuals who openly despise Igbos, and vice versa. The apparent level of mutual loathing between the Yoruba and the Igbo, parroted in writing by anonymous Nairaland online forum contributors, does not in my personal experience conform with the true peaceful harmonious, and cooperative nature of Yoruba/Ndiigbo relations throughout Nigeria today in the closing month of 2021.

Granted, people do tend to more readily trust those who speak their native language than they do those who don't share linguistic or cultural ties. Nigeria being no exception, Ndiigbo traders network with businesses run by Igbos due to innate preference, while Yoruba-owned corporate bodies may "just happen" to elect a largely Yoruba Board of Directors.

My humble opinion is that a full 95% of the hateful and repetitive inter-tribal bickering posted in this forum by supposed Yoruba and Igbo keyboard warriors, is in fact the work of those shadowy political forces that seek to divide and conquer ALL Nigeria's southern tribes using the usual online misinformation campaigns designed to "agitate the natives." There is no animosity to speak of between the Igbo and Yoruba tribes in present-day Nigeria. That tribal war exists only in the fertile imaginations of armchair generals and keyboard sicarios who seek in utter futility to ignite a shooting war between two inseparable historic friends, Chinedu Nwabuike Okafor, and Olayinka Adebowale Olanrewaju.
You’re a brilliant writer and I have a lot of respect for what you wrote here. However, some bastards and terr0rists who have give the Igbo a bad name are the cause of the problem.

Who is deceiving who? How can the truth be turned always on its head by these people?

A minister, Mr. Fashola, who was there to do an assessment, picked up the camera and turn around to tell us that he could not find the camera anymore. Who is the fool here? How can such an important part of the evidence be declared missing by a minister who is a senior advocate of Nigeria? It is unbelievable that with what we saw, some people choose to turn the truth on its head by telling us that no one was killed, after having admitted that three people were killed.

Lagos is an APC state, controlled by an APC governor. The panel was set up by the APC government and not the opposition, with a mandate to be faithful and honest in their dealings. How is the same government not willing to accept the report submitted by its own panel, considering also that the panel members should be loyal members of the APC?

It is funny how you think that Ebun Adegboruwa will turn out to embarrass the same government that he benefits from.

If anyone did wuruwuru to the answer, it is the panel which turned a blind eye to every report of expert witnesses in order to desperately validate a social media narrative of a “massacre”.

Write it down, many members of that panel now have their reputations totally torn to shreds. Only God’s mercies can rehabilitate them.

The point is still flying way over your head. He has not said that whitepapers should not be implemented rather his point is that the formulation/content of a whitepaper should not differ from the decision or recommendations of a panel which the white paper is meant to convey in the first instance. It should not be used as a tool to discredit the decisions of a panel otherwise he is reminding all that the white paper is not a legal instrument contemplated by the law.
Please show what you typed here to your 5-year old daughter/son if you have any and come back with what they say. They will not only know better but be disappointed that their dad/mum came up with this embarrassing illogicality.

What is the use of a White Paper if it must carry wholesale the recommendations of a Panel it is meant to go through?

Many countries of the world have always respected Nigerians’ intellectual capabilities. With cheap internet data and cheap phones, it looks like we are now exporting ignorance and daftness to the rest of the world. Many uneducated and unrefined people just come on social media now wanting to trend but ending up embarrassing themselves and their families online by exposing their lack of intellectual depth.

When it comes to judicial panel, white paper does not override. Simple Logic
You must be the dumbest person in your lineage. If not, you would have gone to read basic Law 101 to realise that it is the White Paper that gets gazetted and that is what is Law.

An Administrative Panel barred Atiku from contesting the 2007 elections but the courts ruled that such Panels’ reports are no more than recommendations with no force of law.

Atiku went on to contest that election against the late Yar’Adua.

If you’re not dumb to your DNA, you will read to cure your ignorance before making comments that expose your lack of knowledge of the subject matter.
PoliticsRe: EndSARS: White Paper Not Known To Law — Falana by OderaOdesigo: 10:24am On Dec 01, 2021

Understand what he is saying, a white paper is a mere administrative tool for conveying the decision of a panel or government body. It cannot be used to vary or tamper with the actual decision it is meant to convey. A white paper committee cannot also stand in an appellate position to alter or refute what the recommendations of the panel set up by the authority constitutionally empowered to do so.

@the bold, unless the panel is set up to produce a pre-determined outcome, a panel constituting authority should ordinarily be bound by and implement the outcomes/recommendations of the panel it set up. Unfortunately, Nigeria is a country where laws/principles are applied based on the whims of the ruling bloc. The same way you are happy to say a quasi-judicial panel is not a court of law is the same way a white paper is not known to law and does not have the requisite power to counter or alter the recommendations of a properly constituted panel. All concerned persons should challenge what they will in a competent court of law but please hide your hypocrisy sometimes.
Besides, how many times does the Nigerian government even obey valid court pronouncements especially when not in its favour? You should be more concerned about the system and institutions that are not able to function freely rather keep enabling the truncation of same system due to political support and considerations.
Stop using cunning lies to justify irresponsibility.

You cannot establish deaths by public opinion. It must be backed up by facts - not just stated facts but verifiable facts.

Falana has pushed in times past for implementation of White Papers when he woke up on the activist side of the bed.

Now that his reputation (and his son’s) are on the line, with the “massacre” lies outed and totally exposed, he’s switching the narrative and clutching at straws. He cannot approbate and reprobate at the same time.

Read this and ask yourself what the difference is between those White Papers and this one:

https://thenationonlineng.net/falana-sack-wogu-for-alleged-complicity-in-subsidy-fraud/

Unfortunately, those who practice fake activism always fail to realise that the internet never forgets. Anyone can easily dig into your past within 30 minutes to fault your irresponsible and unprincipled nature.

Falana used to be highly respected by most Nigerians who saw him as the heir apparent to Chief Gani Fawehinmi. We have been wrong - he is nothing like Gani. GANI only saw good or bad irrespective of who was on either side.

Falana, on the other hand, likes to trend - he also cannot simply admit that he’s wrong (at times) and step back from the wrongdoing. Rather, he will dig himself further and further into more unprincipled behaviours and outbursts in order to keep trying to justify very obvious errors of omission and commission.

It’s so sad seeing how low he has come.

This man used to be my hero when I was in University (in addition to Chief Gani Fawehinmi). But in recent times, his desperation to make his son Falz relevant and his desperation to validate his positions (faulty or otherwise) have made him to throw all caution to the winds.

To all intents and purposes, Chief Femi Falana is a quack now and an object of laughter from so many who used to respect him and even venerate him before.

The same man saying White Papers are not known to law has in the past pressed many governments to implement White Papers. When it suits him White papers are okay and MUST be implemented but when his reputation and his son’s reputation are now on the line, White Papers are no longer known to law. Read some of the articles below and one cannot help but realise that Chief Gani Fawehinmi must be turning in his grave seeing the pseudo-activist that his once protégé has become:

Tinubu owns first Bank and must be probed
Oponu radarada, so let’s even assume he owns First Bank, you are saying that as a private individual and businessman, he has no right to own shares in any company in Nigeria? Nairaland is so full of you dumb-asses who reason through your behind.

First Bank is a Plc and EVERY NIGERIAN can own shares in it. Even those serving in public office now also can, so long as it’s done properly and declared appropriately.

Seun and his team may like the traffic on this forum but it’s mainly made up (90%) of dumb and thuggish goons who openly celebrate ignorance of even the most basic of facts and compete for who is the most abusive.
