jmichlins:I meant that aljazeera package is no longer available on small antenna like 90cm/Ku band etc...but al Jazeera news channel is on ses@22west 11053V40000 with superb picture quality unlike al Jazeera on eutelsat@16east (megachoice)with poor picture quality! |
adubam:..you can only get al Jazeera news crystal clear on 90cm...but not the package.. |
sunene1:various satellites are to be launched in 2017 and angola will place there first satellite in orbit.. angosat 1 at 14.5east carrying 16 c band transponder to cover africa and 6 ku band transponder focused on southern africa...estimated date september 2017 azerspace 2 to be launch at 45 east with ku band beam covering with 35 active ku band transponder covering europe, middle east, west africa and central africa, central and south asia ....estimated date december 2017 azerspace 2 and angosat 1 coming soon...

ludakristos:Indirectly it does, bandwidth has something to do with the dish with the following reasons: what is a bandwidth?:a bandwidth is the range of frequencies, the difference between the highest frequencies signal components and the smallest signal components an electronic signal uses on a given transmission medium..like the frequency of a signal, bandwidth is measured in Hertz Bandwidth The ku band is designated for DTH/communication use via satellite...NB:with no competition or signal interference from other communication system... Typically ku band operates at higher frequency 10.7GHZ to 12.75GHZ the higher frequency produces a signal with shorter wavelength that is more powerful and focused..because of it's higher frequency it requires smaller dish sizes to receive the service.... C-band on the other hand operates at a much lower frequency 3.4GHZ t0 4.2GHZ due to it's low frequency it shares the same frequency with the terrestrial microwave radio system,as a result some VSAT locations may be avoided so as to not to interfere with these radio system(GSM) and C band operates with low power it requires larger dish sizes to receive the service.... dish type:what is the primary difference between a shallow satellite dish (offset) and a deep satellite dish (prime focus) on terrestrial interference, note that offset satellite antennas are more shallow than a typical prime focus satellite antennas..the shallow the dish the more the gain but a deep dish reject TI than a shallow dish but has less gain than a shallow dish..a shallow dish F/D ratio is about 0.38-0.42 while deep satellite antennas is about 0.27 t0 0.32... Due to C-band signal prone to TI ( terrestrial interference) a prime focused dish is suitable to receive the service than offset satellite antennas, though a higher signal gain is possible when an offset antenna is used to receive C band signal with same dish size however ku band is effected by severe weather conditions/rain, to minimize rain fade a bigger dish size is needed..C band is less effected by severe weather conditions or heavy rain and typical for tropical areas.. With above reasons bandwidth has something to do with the dish ![]() |
ben1daEbiri:..I disagree with you, cos dvb s/s2/s2x...are the standard for satellite digital television broadcast....the tuner controls the diseqc switch if applicable use the correct frequency, fec rate, symbol rate to tune the desired service or blind tune!however it has to comply with the broadcast standard to receive incoming signal!tuners attaches to the board and can be replaced...and the inbuilt chip in the motherboard decodes MPEG-2/4/HEVC video standard wrapped in the Transport Stream which is used in the broadcast!

SweetWJ:DVB-S2x is the update of DVB-S2.which means that a tuner of a satellite receiver has to be DVB-S2x compliant to be able to lock dvbs-2x signal....where DVB-S2x tuner can receive DVB-S/DVB-S2 and DVB-S2x respectively Features and benefits of DVB-S2x over DVB-S2: The developers claims that the DVBS-2x efficiency gain over DVB-S2 is around 51% at same satellite transponder bandwidth and emitted signal power..which simply means that DVB-S2x can carry 51% more services than dvb-s2x..for example lets assume a transponder( A) given as 12000 H/V on a DVB-S2 satellite reception has a maximum channel capacity of up to 10 channels or services on its bandwidth and emitted signal power....if DVB-S2x is applied on the same transponder it will increase the channel capacity around 15 additional channels or services ...and for direct to home services ku/ka band an increase of up to 20% extra efficiency can be achieved on DVB-S2x....as this will help saltellite operators and broadcasters cut cost and to deliver more contents with same capacity..with DVB S2X availability of high modulation schemes of up to 64/128/256APSK is possible..unlike DVB S2 higher modulation is 8PSK 16APSK & 32APSK There is only few DVB S2X reception available on some fringe sat like 19.2east/4.8east/33east/ and one on 26east NWA beam.. DVB S2X was introduced at the same time as new efficient HEVC video coding, it is expected that new satellite will combine HEVC/DVB S2X..to deliver UHD,4k/HD services more efficient....some manufacturers has started producing DVB S2X satellite receivers with hevc/4k support. Cheers ![]() |
Spy360:.... why not as long as the broadcast is not Dvbs-2x reception, however dvbs,dvbs2 mpeg 2/mpeg4 HD satellite receivers are now out of date, cos dvbs-2 extension dvbs-2x will render dvb-s/2 receivers obsolete in near future ![]() ............................................................................................................................................................................................... badr7@26east north west africa first dvbs2x frequency bein 4k el classico frequency 12601 pol; V Symbol rate;18000 mode:dvbs-2x/16apsk/hevc

graphicicon:when you buy phones always check the battery capacity in mAh... check the phone battery specification for Nokia xl..it may help..any phone battery does not run down quick on standby mode...the nokia xl battery is only 2000mAh...if that is correct! ..talk time is 16h on 2G up to 13h on 3G ..up to 37h on music play..but if it runs down quick on standby mode you have a problem.. |

Brian109:..then there was live EPL on kwese @68.5east Ku band..yesterday (1 april) |

Dlee1:A good 3metre will give upto 58-62% on mpeg2 old strong receiver other newer models will up to 68-72%...nothing much on nilesat for entertainment except MBC/Dubai one..quest arabiya fta which is equal to discovery channel ...news is OK BBC /CNN etc..the sat has definitely lost it's quality... happy haunting... |
spartacus11:Yea technology is moving faster and the Europe satellite broadcast are already there..ka frequency is yet to appear in sub-sahara Africa beam... A multistream broadcast in hevc /mpeg2/4/mpeg-h or in Acm/Acm mode...etc in the Ku band or ka band is yet to appear in sub-sahara africa beam then you may be forced to purchase a multistream satellite receiver with hevc/UHF/4k and ACM VCM compliant etc..combined with ka/Ku/c band lnb for new generation satellite broadcast.. |
HAH:yea ..you are right! obviously it is a test transmission!an OTT broadcast initially on badr@26east which was on multi transport stream on TP;12380H27500/badr Probably it will be blocked leave abs3A@3west or return to badr@26east!... |
Mitchely:Intelsat 904@60east..will be shut down soon....while Intelsat 33e to take over from 904..hope for better coverage on Intelsat 33e@59.5east! http://www.flysat.com/is33e.php |
graphicicon:which QSat receiver...had no problem with pvr on video recorded with q23g with vlc/window media player/centre on window 7 computer...and even played the same file recorded with qsat with another receiver... |
gddams:what type of satellite receive is that? did you extract file mcas? cos the receiver will on detect the folder (plugin)... extract the mcas file with winrar/zip..when you extract the file you should be able to see the folder named "plugin" send the folder plugin to the USB stick..then insert USB flash drive to the receiver after that, the receiver will data from the USB flash drive.. on a few seconds a message will pop up on the screen..answer yes with the OK button on the remote control..receiver will start upgrading when upgrade is finished it will reboot..then you are you done... you can manually edit other keys ..with the latest plugin autoroll will work! other files should be in the plugin folder that is .. plugin/var/bin plugin_mcas plugin/var/key/softcam.key/keydata.bin |
graphicicon:... ... save your breath and resources for new generation receivers..cos successor of h.264/MPEG-4/AVC is here HEVC also known as ..h.265/MPEG-H part 2.. is on your door step ..

yawwilson:wondering what is hybrid it only means a two way broadcast ...a type of broadcast that combines satellite dish+internet to watch TV programme ...for hybrid broadband broadcast!the requirement is a hybrid IPTV dvbs/dvbs2 satellite receiver with ethernet port for internet and a satellite dish to point @ the desired hbbtv satellite channel....but only few channels with hybrid broadcast example sentech on 12682 H 30000@ intelsat20 Ku band!seevii drama which was on badr@26east on frequency 10972 H 27500...with standard satellite broadcast + hybrid broadband service! Any receiver that does not comply with the two way broadcast from above is not hybrid or full hybrid Receiver... |
Easy023:...c band transponders are cheaper than the Ku band transponders.. and with wider coverage area which makes it suitable for channel distribution and feeds..etc ...disadvantage is that it requires bigger dish sizes on the ground! |
graphicicon:.....is not because the sat is too close to each other..besides there is lnb designed for that purpose called bullet lnb! for two satellites@2°degree spacing.. however you are using 60cm dish...and attaching lnb apart from the focal point will result in loss of signal -dB....I have tracked both satellite 7e and 5e..with two lnb on one setup..using dicom lnb and strong short neck lnb+80cm dish..so I cannot say otherwise...cos the lnb feedhorn may be a problem in tracking two satellites with 2 degree spacing...

lincolnola:yes 7e is possible.., |
olawaleejiko:..actually the signal quality is lower than other TPs.@ses 5..skew is between 5 and 6 O'clock..your dish size may be the problem... |
mosescollon:suspecting fec rate increase ...you may need to improve your overall signal quality... |
lincolnola:..but at least you should be able to get all the TPs at 5east with one lnb excluding 7east with 1M dish"..if you position the lnb correctly...even transponder 11996 V27500@5east..hosting eMovies extra HD and trace sport stars....FTA! |
