Lord_Reed: It is amazing how many people get this question wrong. I also initially thought 0.10 as the answer but on review I saw my error. If you are having difficulty figuring it out you are not unique but be assured the answer is indeed 0.05.

1.05 = shoes
0.05 = socks
shoes + socks = 1.05 + 0.05 = 1.10
shoes - socks = 1.05 - 0.05 = 1.00
