ezo4fta: I agree with u and ur calculations. U ar right in all ways. This question is not as simple as u thought, that is why it is called an IQ question. If only people that answer it correctly can tell u how many minutes or hours it took them to arrive at dat answer. I believe instead of guessing and thinking for minutes we don't hv,it will be better to solve it and arrive at a perfect and correct answer without having any doubt. Simple logic in maths; 'both' means addition(+). And 'more than' means ( - ). I agree with ur analyses. U ar correct all the way but my concern is how many minutes it took dem to think abt it. I explained it here so that people will understand clearly how we arrived at that answer. ezo4fta: The IQ question above is simply world problem leading to simultaneous equation. Let 'X' be the pair of shoes and Let 'Y' be the pair of socks. X+Y=1.10 ..........(1). X - Y=1.00 ..........(2). Using elimination method,subtract equation (2) from equation (1) X - X=0. and Y - (-Y)=2Y and 1.10 - 1.00=0.10 so therefore, 2Y=0.10. i.e. Y=0.10/2 Y=0.05. Remember i said let 'Y' represent socks. so therefore, socks=0.05.
