Of course.

If they show that they can handle it, why not? There are a few examples of youth players that have shown that they can play a part at the time they were handed their debuts- Amad, Garnacho, Mainoo, Greenwood, and so on. Moving on from that to being a solid starter is another thing.
We are in need now more than ever. Obi must play.

If you don’t know that Sunderland loan is what aided Amad’s growth.

When he was loaned to Scotland I used to tune in to watch Rangers games but he was poor most of the time.
When he went to Sunderland I used to watch their games and for the first few months he was just okay but over time he quietly developed into their best player by the 2nd half of the season.
If he was at United, fans would have already destroyed him and cussed him out in those first few months.

That Sunderland loan was incredibly important and great for Amad. He became visibly stronger and faster during that loan and he made his mistakes away from the spotlight.

Where ETH was foolish was when he refused to play Amad when he returned from that loan. But by that time Amad was 21 not a teenager anymore.
Amad has always played well with us, though not at this current level. He grew.

Trust was lacking.

Obi deserves more time I agree.

Amass has played in many games this month despite sharing time with any young player in Dorgu who also needs time to develop.

Heaven has been injured.

Who are the academy players that you think are ready who are not getting enough time?
Obi and Collyer deserves more. Although Collyer has more minutes. I don't know if he's injured or something.

You have to understand that Hojlund is our only striker in the Europa League, the only competition we are putting all our hope and the mofo is misfiring, Amorim wants to keep playing him till he hit at least some form for the Europa League.

I do agree with you though that Obi should be seeing more minutes in the league now that Zirzkee is injured.
Hodjlund hit form? It will take a miracle.

You force your coach to give you consistent game time by performance in games and training. If you are not ready in training no coach will give you game time especially for young players with no experience.
LMFAO. Naso Ten Hag throw Amad go Sunderland because he was not ready.

I side with you regarding Obi.

What I disagree with is the blanket statement that we don’t give youths a chance or don’t give academy players a chance.

This club historically and in recent times has always given its academy and other young players opportunities.

Specifically with Amorim he went really far with giving academy players opportunities in Sporting Lisbon so I will give him the benefit of the doubt and give some more time on this issue.

If he has not been sacked next season and academy players are still not getting good minutes, then I will blame him.
I do not think he's giving them enough time

Just look at our attack. Inexperience boku everywhere. We’ve been playing yoots and relying on them for years. Playing youths is not an issue, but it’s wrong to keep fielding them when it’s clear that they’re not delivering.

Garnacho and Mainoo have had too many minutes under their belt. That heavy workload is bound to affect their progress somehow. If not, Januzaj would have been a United legend by now. And Garnacho wouldn’t have regressed.

Instead of buying experienced players in their prime, and supplement them with a couple of trailblazing youth players, we buy those who are about to fall off a cliff, pair them with useless senior players, and ping all our hopes on academy newbies to bail us out.
Now I'm not advocating for always using young players.

But when the case arises, you make do with what you have, in our own case, Obi is need. Did you see the graph I uploaded?

Odizeey, you’re citing Skelly and Nwanneri as perfect examples, but Arsenal don’t rely heavily on them.

Skelly is the only starter of the duo, and that’s because of his talent. Arsenal still have tons of options for that position. And Nwanmeri will always be on the bench if Saka is fit for any EPL or UCL game.

Where is United’s Saka for Garnacho? Where is United’s Saka for Hojlund, Amass and the likes?

We have enough inexperienced players on the pitch already (especially in attack, which is the major reason we’re in a mess). More inexperienced players on the pitch won’t solve our problems— unless they’re extremely talented and it’s clear that they can handle the stress and deliver.
We don't need to rely on ours also. Give them minutes they can build on. Or just leave them in their comfort zone

Firstly, Mainoo played 7 months of this season as a teenager or how old was he from August to March?

Secondly, how many Carabao Cups did we play under Amorim?

Thirdly, all games count but top level games like Champions League, Premier League, Europa League games count more than Carabao Cup and Conference League qualifiers.
Mainoo has been part of the senior team since last season, scoring in the FA cup final. He's left the academy since. He's not particularly of the convo.

Tyrique George with 97 mins in the league while all Chelsea fans are lamenting about Freedom Fighter, Mukaila, and Neto.

Acheampong with 169 minutes in the league.

Lenny Yoro with 1067 minutes in the league
Kobbie Mainoo with 1308 minutes in the league as a teenager.

First, don't limit it to league games. If these boys played carabao and uel games, no one would complain.

Second, don't add Mainoo. Mainoo is not a teenager please.

Chose to ignore my previous posts.
It's not about tiny bits of minutes. It's about sufficient minutes these guys can build on.
Look at this clown of a player called Hodlund in this chart. I bet you'll struggle to find him.

Skelly and Amass na age mate o. Skelly has 1800 minutes. Amass has 186. Skelly's minutes dwarfs all united teenagers minutes combined bar Yoro. And that Yoro was bought for huge money sef.

The next teen was less than 500 minutes (Collyer). The next should be Heaven with about 200 minutes. Then Amass, less than 200 minutes. Poverty striken minutes.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by odizeey(m): 8:11pm On Apr 28, 2025
Analysing situations and taking actions based on where you find yourself is key.

I saw that these losses would come and suggested here (even though we don't get heard sha) that Amorim should deploy a laid back tactics that minimizes the goals we concede. Because it was obvious that our backline is leaking and we don't have attackers to score goals to cover for that. Situational analysis.

If there was a competition at the bottom like other times, we would have probably being battling relegation. Situational analysis.

Why will a Liverpool pick a cutlass when they have a machine gun? We have a cutlass and we are holding on to a knife. Situational analysis.

The minutes Arsenal gave their two young boys are more than we gave all our academy players combined. That's to tell you they are giving those boys minutes for props.

How many points separates you from Southampton?

You want to win like Liverpool and Man City with young players even though those two teams never relied on their academy. You’d make a splendid football technical director.
The all knowing super paid technical directors loaned out first team players and decided to buy two young defenders.

I think I'll do a better job.

Amass has played 3 of our past 4 games.

Can you list the clubs that are using more teenagers or giving them more minutes than us?

We loaned out great senior players who were not playing great football. It comes down to the same thing. Our useless senior players are placing undue pressure that other youth players are not facing on our own youth players. They will play when they are assessed to be ready to play.

I will never forget how when Januzaj made the team senior pros were passing the ball to him every minute of the match like they were not paid to play football as well.
Once again, they are not given reasonable minutes. Putting them in dead minutes. Especially those in critical areas of need. Take Miles Skelly and Nwaneri as examples.

When Barcelona was hit with injuries, Barcelona gave about 8 teenagers minutes. 3 of them played over 1.5k plus minutes. Because they were needed in those critical areas.

It's not about giving scattered minutes here and there and asking which team gave more minutes when we all know United force managers to give minutes so they can post on twitter that they give youths chance. 🤣🤣

My focal point has always being Obi. I care less about other areas, because we need him in that position for now.
