Then it's either those guys don't know what they are doing or they are hiding something. Despite my persistence, they claimed I can only bid through their app.
If you have your account officer contacts, reach out to him/her.
You may also want to try any other commercial bank

Well done. You also get to see your daily interest

What's the best way to invest in the T-bill primary market? Wema Bank told me they have issues with their app, even though they assured me some weeks back that I could place my bid on it.
Please for primary market, always send your bid a week or atleast two working days to the auction and send a reminder on the day of the auction.

I doubt you can bid primary market on the app

please how to calculate the 10% wh tax
Divide the interest you get by 10.

If interest you get is 100,000, the WHT will be 10,000.
If it's 1,000,000. the WHT will be 100,000

Thank you for this clarification.

This is just unexpected cost now. Is this also applicable to mutual funds via all these investment apps
All short term fixed income investment are subjected to tax.

FGN savings bond and fgn bond are exempt and other bond the tenure is more than a year

Good day all.

I subscribed to the 364 day Treasury Bill last year and my money was released today but a 10% WHT was applied to it. Should this be so considering that the money was invested last year.

P.S: This was my first time using first bank. I normally use Zenith and they don't remove WHT
All banks/investment firm now charge WHT. Those that didn't deduct last year started removing the 10% WHT even if they have paid interest upfront..

As long it's not more than 10% of the interest, don't over stress.

Your eyes are seeing correctly. The bonds were originally issued at those rates. However, the yield that clears the reopening auctions will be different. They would be similar to current yields in the secondary market, i.e. not the coupon rate. One benefit is it does not attract WHT. That's why I said 'some may be interested' wink
Thank you.

I wish tbills too doesn't attract WHT

Once my current Treasury Bill matures, anno do again except una reverse this una WHT law and make secondary rate more lucrative
Instead running away, think about the money you would not gain if you decide to keep fund idle. Even though rate is dropping, you are still getting something atleast.

Enter DM make we talk as tbills don tire you.

I've been using GT fund managers for a while now & haven't experienced the "SEC charge" before, so it's strange to me.

Another thing I noticed is their rate for the January 7, 2026 auction which was @ 17% against the 18%+ rate we saw from the result.
I know banks charges other fees. The Sec fee is new to me honestly.

Yes. Its rare to get exact stop rate. Most time people go with bank/investment house rate.

Maybe it depends on the amount also.

I'm going to try another investment house, I pray it better be a general issue.
With their poor NTB rates, they'll not allow one breath with charges.
Ask questions before you do anything.

Maybe they are learning from the Banks. Lol

Hello House,
Does SEC now charge 0.25% on NTB interest?
This is what I got from GTFund managersembarassed
My first time hearing this.
I know investment One don't charge any fee. The only deduction is 10% WHT which is statutory.

I don't know if they have changed though

Any thoughts on the MCO Penny ltd savings? It promises 26% interest per annum with upfront interest payment. How safe is it? Anyone invested before?
Biko do your research. Check if they are licensed and regulated.

How long have they bn around?

Do you know people who use them also..

prior to this my initial response.

I just figured out why there is so much liquidty in the system making money market rate go down.

CBN paid banks back matured Tbills money invested with them, so that has created the excessive money in the system.

I was quite surprised in my earlier post for the excessive liquidity because I know FAAC hasn't been paid but good thing I have figured it out.
Well done

Please, is it advisable to invest about 48M plus in Cowrywise Money Market Fund of 16.55% or Treasury bills for just 90 days; having understood both are low risk. I intend to use the money for Visa application at the end of maturity time. Currently doing FD but lower interest rate.

Which of the above investments is a better option?
Check tbills secondary market rate for that tenure. There will also be primary auction this coming week I think.

Alternatively, you can get fd with better ratethan tbills for similar tenure. You can also request and get confirmation of investment which will be sent to the embassy of your choice once you need it as long as you have investment with us.
