Omo we try for that first half sha.

The tactics and approach was clear for all to see.

And to think carrick has only trained these lads for 3 days or so

Lets see how it pans out in the 2nd half
A draw will feel like a loss. We have what we need to beat this City team today

2nd disallowed. Hope it's doesn't kill their spirit
It won't.
I like the way they are playing when attacking and defending.

City's defense is weak IMO

how many percent?
For 90-365 you can get around 18% and for a 90days, 6months 19 and a year around 22%(All rates are backend).
There's also option of taking you interest upfront as it is on the app.

Honestly I thought I was the only one going gaga over this deducting WHT from matured investments of interests that one has long spent. Tampering with people's capital.
It's like a sadistic attempt to pull people down
Financially.
I mean it's bad enough that they're taxing us from the money borrowed from us, it's worse that the WHT rate is that high and worst that it has to be deducted at maturity from one's capital.
Or could it be a lame strategy of trying to trick people into reinvesting their interest till maturity?
Honestly this country is crazy
I don't think it's a strategy to make people collect interest at maturity.

Remember the investment has been running for a long time and it's possible tax wasn't deducted when you took interest. Though I am of the opinion WHT is suspended on Tbills just like bonds

The new directive by FIRS now NRS mandated all banks, investment house etc to start deductions.
Before now, I know few banks and investments house deduct the 10% statutory WHT, while some don't.

Any rate you are been offered now, just multiply by 0.9 to get the exact rate and amount after tax.

That's okay but as a novice, I consider so many things aside roi.

Sometimes I want all investment to mature same date, any other money I have this January will track that same maturity date so it becomes bigger next year.

I am planning retirement and not interest alone.

That's for me oooo
You can still plan or book your investment to mature around same period.

You can easily compound the one you have currently to grow it faster. Once you are retired, you can decide to structure to be collecting interest quarterly or half a year or even monthly.

Explains why people got 17% in the secondary market.
In coming days, Secondary market rate should adjust upward, but it won't be up to the primary market in terms of rate and tenor.
I use to like the secondary market because of its different tenure available.

For now, I dn port go FD

Many people at my first bank branch today complaining about tax deductions from their matured treasurybill, they weren't aware of it so the uproar in the manager office was so loud. Imaging paying a tax of up to 2.4m of money you've long spent i heard from the crowd.

I hope mutual funds investors won't have to pay tax on accrued interest when one is ready to withdraw capital?
All short term investments are tax. The only exception I know of his Bond/Borrowing to FG for over a year period.

Honestly that WHT deduction can be annoying. Why tax people you are borrowing from.

Lol. Then they should exempt taxation to encourage investors. That tax too worry
Yes. I don't know why they will charge tax for they borrow from investors.

IMHO, tbills should also be tax exempt.

When Firs gave the notice for all institutions to deduct the WHT, Subscription declined in the following auctions. Now we are seeing increase in rate and subscription.

Good morning Everyone. I know this may not be mutual fund but this was the mail I received this morning from Piggyvest. If piggyvest will toll this path, indirectly most tech investment and savings firms will follow this same path if I'm not mistaken?
But Payment of 10% WHT isn't new. Even banks deduct WHT When they pay interest on your savings.

Ok. But l let me ask although I asked this question elsewhere but I'm still slightly confused.
How about the money we already have in our accounts before this tax law. What happens to it say we don't invest it . Will it be taxed by the end of the year.

Also let's say one invested in tbills or mutual funds via one of these fund managers and their app and you finally want to withdrawx your capital or just the gains back to your bank account, will the money (capital or gains) be taxed? If yes what narrative can one use to avoid that?
I honestly don't know who started the rumor of money in your bank account will be taxed.
The truth is money in your bank account will not be taxed, what is taxed is income that's if you have not paid tax.

As long you have paid WHT from Interest on your investment, you don't need to worry about tax again.

Any other new tax on treasury bill investment?

I think none.

If there's, let's learn together.
There's no other tax on treasury bill

New tax law has no effect on treasury bill. Nothing new.
If it does please someone should help explain, thanks
It does. Before now Tax on Tbills was suspended then later reintroduce about three years ago but some banks don't charge. Late last year, a circular was released by FIRS mandating all banks and investment house to deduct WHT on short term instrument.

For Government instruments that are more than a year like FGN Savings, Sukuk, Bond etc and they won't be taxed

You know how dubious these guys can be

For instance

You invested 10m in TBills at rate of 15% for 352 days.
Upfront you get the interest to the tune of 1.35m after withholding tax of 150k was taken off.

Now at the maturation of the tenor (after the 352 days), will the government still tax this 10m?

By removing VAT (10%) and income tax (25%) from the 10m, by playing deaf and dumb in being unable to discriminate between income and investment?

Leaving you with 6.5m?
Nobody will tax you once they have already tax you upfront. At maturity you get your principal.

If they tax you twice, simply make a complain.

The New Tax Reform Law (1 Jan 2026) is applicable to income not capital. Interest income on short-term securities and dividends excluding government bonds, have WHT applied to them (10%). So no change there. Note, you can utilise your WHT deductions against your total taxable income should you choose wink.

A summary of the Tax Reform Law is here:

Gd morning I Investors. Pls I am a newbie and I have been reading the thread. Pls I want to invest 20m in TB for 365 days. Can I get 20% ROI? Is there a safe online platform that I can use to buy the TB? If yes, which platform is the best?
Your bank is the best bet or visit any licensed investment house.

Though, you can get above what Tbills is doing currently for shorter tenure if you invest in fixed deposit. You can check my signature
