This is madness. That is how corruption starts, they (politicians) will start borrowing money left right and centre to pay for the form, bribe electorate and god fathers for support , after the election they will start siphoning every dam penny that accrues the state without remorse.

Who Then is Marginalising the Igbo People.

By OMA | 13-06-2019 | Politics |

Only Igbos marginalise Igbos.

Mko tinz-500x710.jpg

Anybody wey Igbo people suppourt no dey ever win Elections for Nigeria.

New findings from omascope has found that the igbos from the south east of Nigeria did not vote MKO Abiola in the June 12 1993 Elections believed to be the freest and Fairest elections in the history of Nigeria.

Igbos didnt support MKO he won.

Igbos didnt support Buhari 2 time and Buhari won 2 times.

Its time for igbos to change tactics and stop crying marginalisation cos all I see is igbos marginalising igbos and no one else.

Wake up my igbo brethren and come over to the popular side of History. The winning side.

MKO, Buhari and the Rest of Us.

Igbos MUST stop marginalising igbos.

Igbo people are never on the popular side and that is why they tend to be Always left out in the scheme of things.

Study voting patterns since 1993 elections and see why the igbos always yell marginalisation but unfortunately it seems its actually the igbos marginalising the igbo as theatrical as it may sound.

New evidence suggest igbo people did not vote for MKO Abiola in the June 12 1993 general elections that is believed to be the freest and fairest elections ever held in Nigeria.

Asides from trumped-up excuses the then Military Dictator General Badamosi Ibrahim Babangida gave for anulling the elections, studying the voting patterns indicated asides from Anambra state in the South-East, no other state from that Region supported the candidacy of MKO Abiola.

Is it then right to conclude that any candidate the igbos support is sure to lose out in Nigeria General Elections.

History always repeats its self and people seem never to learn from History.

Igbo's did not support emergence of MKO but he still won non the less without their support.

Igbos never supported the emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari on 2 occassions and he still won nom the less without their support.

Do we then say igbos are irrelevant or their votes dont matter.

Or is it a case of them shooting themselves in the foot?

Igbo people has over the years always been on the unpopular side of history in voting patterns in General Elections held in Nigerian territorial space.

Igbos must get their act together and set their priorities right.

You want something. Work for it.

It is time igbos learn from this unfavourable trend and form winning alliances to stop the cry of marginalisation.

Oma writing for www.omascope.com political desk.

some people can not spend a day without mentioning IGBO this IGBO that, in spite of the fact that Igbos are not enjoying Federal power does not make them a dependent tribe, Igbos are still better than those that have been governing Nigeria from independent.

June 12 has no benefits to a common man in the street, it's just an avenue for the elites to hold dinner party and spend our money, June 12 should not be a day of celebration but a for sober reflection, what gains have we made in our democratic journey? is our voice been heard by those in govt? Is our judiciary independent? Do we have freedom of expression? Does our vote count? these are questions that we should be asking ourselves . when you ask yourself these questions that is when you know if it worth's celebrating. A country where the leader of the highest policy making body is being hand picked by the executive, a country where a sitting governor kidnapped electoral body official and compelled the official to declare him the winner of the election , a country where some governors and their party leaders disenfranchised some citizens simply because they perceived that those citizens might vote against their candidate, a country where a father is a sitting senator (former governor) and his son a speaker against the wishes of the indigenes of the state. Why the celebration?

Population or not, states should stop sucking the breast of the Federal Government . Stop waiting to be spoonfed.

civil service is not that populated, our problem is our state governors and their handlers, their pockets are so deep that the allocation that comes to the states are used to service or charter private jets. some of them are building world class universities and hotels abroad whereas those that voted them in are suffering. If you ask Kogi state governor what he did with the allocation he received for almost 48 Months, he will tell you that the money was used to secure the state (some governors take 30% of the allocation as security vote) .

Uptill now, the issue of states in southwest,
perticularly Oyo and Osun still bothering me and why they are owning their workers,
in getting solution to that I got this article that will interest you.

Its a fact surrounding the current issues in southwest and other states. Facts...

Federal Allocation - Does The South-West Deserve this?

As released by the Federal Ministry of Finance, the total allocation to all the South-West states, namely, Lagos, Osun, Oyo, Ondo, Ekiti and Ogun for January this year and shared in February was N15.1
billion, while Akwa Ibom State alone with a population less than 3 million people got N13.9 billion! “For the same period. Bayelsa State, at arguably 2 million people, got N10 billion
and Rivers State got N10.3 billion. Between Kano and Jigawa states, which used to be
one state like Lagos State, they got N7 billion. Lagos State only got N3.4 billion.
“If you remove Ekiti State with the lowest allocation of just N2.3 billion, Akwa Ibom State alone gets more allocation than the
rest of the South-West states put together including Lagos. And guess what? Hundreds of thousands of Akwa Ibom State citizens are in Lagos State enjoying the state’s free
education”. “If you multiply the total allocation to the South-
West states at N15 billion per month by 12, you have N180 billion per year! This is less
than 30% of what the FG make from the Lagos Seaports alone, don’t even talk about VAT that Lagos contributes over 60% of the
total accrual to the FG.

“Yet some morons will tell me we live on Niger Delta oil.”
“Now, my State Governor can’t pay his workers because of this systemic injustice.
It is better we start the implementation of regional based fiscal federalism now.

@Op how much is states like Osun, Ekiti, Oyo contributing? you don't expect oil producing states to receive less than other states that have no oil, crude oil is Nigerian major source of foreign exchange, Nigeria economy revolves around oil, when the price of oil increases the economy improves, when it drops the reverse becomes the case and those oil rich states suffer environmental degradation as a result oil exploration. Federal government should establish sea ports in other riverine states to reduce this noise about Lagos, even someone from kwara state will come online and start crying about Lagos State allocation.

Politics / Re: Ebonyi State - The 7th Poorest State In Nigeria With 73.% Poverty Rate by ofeco: 11:14am On Apr 23, 2019
mathewLonger:
That Ebonyi State is a poor state is not a news. What is a news is that the state is the only Southern state with poverty rate as high as 73.6%, ranking along the conflict-ridden northern states like Zamfara, Katsina, Sokoto, Benue, Taraba, Nasarawa, Plateau, Kaduna, Borno, Yobe. Of note is that as at 2014, Ebonyi was only in the 17th position, with just 47% poverty rate.

Someone should honourably take responsibility of this deterioration. With this statistics, one wonders what is the basis for defining good leadership. A state where a level 15 civil servant of up 20 years in service goes home with a salary of barely N90,000; and a graduate at level 8 goes home with less than N25,000. Ebonyi is the only state where for the past 5 years, civil servants have only witness a single promotion (conducted last year for the purposes of election), where neither leave allowances nor promotion arrears have been paid for more than half a decade, and where pension and gratuity arrears are either owed with impunity or proudly paid in piece meal. To make matters worse, according to a recent policy of the State Government, promotion in the state civil service shall henceforth only be based on "vacancies" (and not merit nor seniority).

The problem is that there is no other industry in the state than the civil service. And so any policy that impoverishes the civil servant, automatically impoverishes all - the dependents and the traders. That the governance system in Ebonyi State has collapsed completely is an understatement. While the people die in penury, the Governor prides himself as being a God-sent - building flyovers, conference centres, malls, airport, ecumenical centre. Perhaps, I guess, he is building the roads to smooth the transition from poverty to death. Perhaps, like Sodom and Gomorrah, Ebonyi people are the most sinful and God has sent the governor to come and punish them according.

God help us.

See the 2019 Report of the National Bureau of Statistics; and https://leadership.ng/2019/04/23/insecurity-and-its-impact-on-northern-nigeria/

You should be thankful that he is building infrastructures, some states like Abia, Benue, Kogi etc have governors that are afraid of providing infrastructures and paying of salaries. Ebonyians are 80% farmers so building good roads will enable them to convey their farm products to the nearest markets.
