Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Never Put These 5 Things On Your CV When Applying For A Job In Nigeria by Officer101(m): 6:21am On Feb 07, 2020
prowriterss:
Paystack speakers reveal the red flags that keep prospective employers from hiring people.

Once a company puts out a job vacancy, their email boxes immediately get swamped with loads of Curriculum vitae (CV) or resumes .

A chat with the Human Resources team for
Pulse.ng revealed that the hiring managers get an average of 50 per position they post.

These continue to come even after the position is filled.

As a result of the huge amount of CVs or resumes, the HR team has just a few seconds before deciding to either delete or keep them.

This is why it is important to avoid certain red flags. These were all revealed during a recent workshop hosted by Paystack at the ongoing Social Media Week in Lagos state.

The session - 'love-vendor My CV! How To Make Your Resume Standout' - offered a major insight into the mind of an employer and gave CV structuring tips.

Here are five unnecessary things you should never put on your CV according to the Paystack speakers, Kharis Izevbizua and Adebola Adeola.

Primary/ Secondary Education

For Izevbizua, the Product Specialist at the tech company, including details of your primary and secondary education is a waste of time.
According to her, this is a space filler that irritates the hiring manager, adding that this will most likely cause them to stop reading and immediately delete your CV.
The only time you should consider putting this on your CV is when you are applying for an internship.

References

Adding the numbers or email addresses is a waste of space and a waste of the company's time according to Paystack's Product Specialist.
She recommends only offering this particular information when asked.

Irrelevant hobbies and interests

This is another no-no for Izevbizua. Unless the position requires it, there is no need telling your prospective employer how much you love dancing or singing.

Personal stuff

Once upon a time, it was totally okay to include your date of birth or age, marital status and religious preference.

Now, Adeola strongly warns against putting these on your CV or resume. His reason is that this is now considered as discriminatory.
His advice is to simply avoid it except it is a specific job for a specified age. For instance, if a company needs an intern between the ages of 17–25.

Your picture

According to the guy in charge of Paystack's Projects, adding your picture is so not necessary.
Admitting that he was once guilty of this particular CV crime, Adeola notes that is a space filler that should be forgone.

'Being handsome or pretty does not mean you have what it takes to do the job so why to add your picture', he notes.
There you have it. Avoid these five things and you will definitely land your dream job.

Please one of my friend had diploma certificate in Theology from his church, he asked me whether its proper to add it to his CV.
People around him have divided opinion about it, some said he can add it since its an additional knowledge for him, while some said its a turn off that it makes someone look too religious since he is not applying for any job that requires it.

Please note! His first degree is Agricultural Economics and had MBA after. He is currently working in a bank and got his Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) last year.

Is it necessary to still add Diploma Certificate in Theology to his CV?
Can the certificate in any way be positive in his CV?

Sure.
Just like when I heard that this is the correct form of that popular saying "You can't have your cake and eat it", but we used to the other way round. I was like why won't I eat my cake when I have it. There are many things we just have to accept and move on in life. Till tomorrow I am still questioning why furniture and information do not have plural form.

Romance / Social Media Etiquettes by Officer101(m): 9:03am On Nov 11, 2019
SOCIAL MEDIA ETIQUETTE

Dear friends, I enjoy writing about relationships but sometimes it is pertinent to write about some issues that are important for effectual relationships on social media.

I've personally experienced a few not so good manners on Facebook so I thought it was a good idea to point them out so that those fond of these habits can stop it.
So, here they are:

1. STOP TAGGING PEOPLE UNNECESSARILY!

I mean, when your post has nothing to do with people tagged, what's the point? If you are in a business and you want people to be aware of it, send them a message privately. Don’t just tag people randomly.

Some people don't mind all sorts of junks on their Facebook walls but others cherish their walls a lot including me. So I'm sorry, I won't accept any tag that has nothing to do with me or my vision. If you want to share a post and you want someone to be aware of it, then you can mention them in the comment section to let them know.

2. SEND MEANINGFUL MESSAGES!

Someone doesn't really know you but because the person has been kind enough to accept your friend request does not mean you start sending messages like "hi", "hello", “are you there"? "Please help me" etc as if the other person is just sitting in front of the computer or holding the phone and waiting to chat with you.

Some people would even go ahead to call the person directly via Facebook messenger, instagram or whatsapp just because you can see that the person is online. That you see the person is online does not mean that he or she is idle online. For instance, when I’m online, I am online for a purpose and I might not want to be distracted.

If you would like to have a conversation with a person, courtesy demands that you properly introduce yourself and what you want. For instance, when you are messaging someone for the first time, say something like “Hello ABC, My name is XYZ. Thank you for accepting my friend request. I’ve been following your posts for a while. I need help with QRS”. This way, you have introduced yourself and have started a sensible conversation. When people feel valued, they respond to you, and if they don’t, that’s their prerogative. Don’t condemn them.

3. READ POSTS PROPERLY BEFORE COMMENTING!

Some people are so quick to comment without digesting the post. Others just see the trail of comments of people and follow suit. I once saw a post where a man shared a picture and wrote sweet things about his mum who just passed away and instead of some people reading the post properly and making reasonable comments like "rest in peace", they were wishing his late mum a happy birthday and many people joined the bandwagon.

Another example is a recent post of mine where I celebrated the anniversary of my relationship and wrote extensively how I met my husband and even included my wedding date in the post! I had so many people wishing me a happy wedding anniversary instead!!! Oh friends, but why?

I can go on and on but I will stop here.

When next you have an activity on social media, please think on these things. Thank you

Am I the only one who feels this way? Please what other etiquettes must people have on social media? Add yours!!!

Feel free to share

I hacked her WhatsApp back den with( I won't tell u the app grin grin )

She was dating her lecturer then ,an old married man around 60-65yrs with 2 grown up beautiful girls...

Whenever she is online, I ll be reading her messages especially whenever she ask d man dat (did u release in me)...

So I switched to condom cuz I got scared of infections....we fought over the use of condom and I told her Its for our own good.

Too be candid, I played along till her final year cuz I just needed something to bang hard since am not a fan of masturbation and also not a fan of "sister, can I have a minute with u ".

So last year, she told me how she can die for me,how she can bla bla bla ,all those thrash talks........I told her "alaye am done with you".

She think say she don keep one mumu good husband for one place so if she sell her Puna finish, she can come back to uncle mumu.

That day was hell on earth cuz u need to see her rage , insults, abuses....I just dey smile for where I dey say if u finish, carry Ur pangolo and leave.....that was the end of the whole relationship shit.

Advice of the day : If u want to die young, hack your girlfriend's WhatsApp, Facebook,Instagram and co... Chech Ur blood pressure first before doing that shit cuz u ll never believe what u ll see..

Goodnight,by the way,am looking for job. grin grin

See finishing!!!

Crime / Man Burying Daughter Finds Newborn Alive In Grave by Officer101(m): 12:32pm On Oct 16, 2019
A man digging a grave in northern India found a newborn girl buried alive, police said on Monday, in the latest case to shine a spotlight on female infanticide in the country.

Hitesh Sirohi had gone to bury his own daughter, who died a few minutes after birth on Wednesday, when his spade hit an earthen pot, local police in Uttar Pradesh state told AFP.

“When he noticed a newborn girl inside it, he immediately rescued her and dialled… for help.”

Sirohi told the Times of India he found the baby wrapped in a cloth and crying.

“At one point I thought that my daughter had come alive. But the voice was actually coming from the pot,” he told the newspaper.

The newborn was taken to hospital where she is receiving medical care, police said, adding that a local politician was paying for her expenses.

India has long struggled with female infanticide, which has become widespread because of parents’ preferences for sons — who are viewed as investments and heirs — while girls are seen as a liability.

India is trying to bridge the sex ratio gap with tough laws, as the country fares badly with 940 females for every 1,000 males according to the 2011 census.

Prenatal sex determination was outlawed in 1994 but families’ still use illegal methods or devices to discover the gender and terminate pregnancies for unwanted female offspring.

A 2011 study in the British medical journal The Lancet found that up to 12 million girls had been aborted in the last three decades in India.

In January, a three-week-old baby girl was found buried alive in Rajasthan state after locals heard her crying from a shallow grave, but died after a few weeks at a hospital.

In 2017, police in western Maharashtra state recovered 19 female foetuses from a sewer near a clinic.

A doctor was arrested and charged with illegally aborting female foetuses for parents desperate for a boy.

Romance / 18 Year Old Girl Died Two Weeks After Wedding. by Officer101(m): 2:21pm On Jun 25, 2019
This 18yr old girl died after two weeks of wedding.

It may not be anything related to her marriage that led to her death, but I still want to draw a few lessons from this especially to single ladies and guys.

Marriage is good, but many marriages are graves. Some are graves of destinies, graves of vision, graves of happiness, graves of peace and joy.

Would you had rather be married and die to each of the above mentioned?

To be single is better than to marry wrongly. This is not saying that this girl married wrongly.
Even if you are 40 or above, be happy because God's love is sufficient for us all. Don't be too quick to jump into marriage.

Most married people wish they had waited a little longer.

Your singleness is not a curse.

A lecturer II in the Department of Mathematics, University of Ibadan has reportedly committed suicide.
The don, identified as A.O Subair set himself on fire on Monday afternoon in his senior staff quarters located at Phillipson Road of the University.
He has been buried at Akinyele public cemetery. It was gathered that the late lecturer had recently resigned from the university without a justifiable reason but was yet to pack out of the staff quarters before he took his life.

Crime / ‘I Swapped Close To 5,000 Babies In 12 Years In The Maternity' by Officer101(m): 10:01pm On Apr 05, 2019
“I used to swap babies at UTH for fun”!, she confessed on Monday in her sick bed.
“I have terminal cancer and I know I will be dying soon. I wish to confess my sins before God and before all the affected people especially those who were giving birth at UTH during my service. I have found God, Ia, now born again. I have nothing to hide, In the 12 years I worked in the maternity ward at UTH, I swapped close to 5000 babies”, she said.

“If you were born in UTH between the years 1983 to 1995 chances are your parents may not be your biological parents. I had developed a habbit of swapping newly born babies just for fun. So take a good look at your siblings, if for example everyone is light and you are darkie… you are that child and I am really sorry for that”

“I know I sinned against God and may he forgve me for that. I am also asking Zambians to forgive me for the evil things I was doing to innocent children. I have caused some faithful couples to divorce after going for DNA Tests. Its now that I have realised I was just being used by a demon to do that. I have causeed many mothers to breastfeed children who are not theirs biologically. I dont want to go to Hell for that, Am really sorry I have sinned alot.
