Good Morning Fabulous nairalanders. . .
I did some cool internet-suffing
yesterday. I strolled through
nairaland *newly-acquired
addiction*; there, I saw a news
that caught my attention, the
'mumu' NBC at work again *you never
read that o!*.

Anyways, NBC partially banned Lil
Kesh's Shoki remix featuring
Olamide and Davido. By partially-
banned, I mean the song still gets
to be aired but only at seemingly
odd hours (10pm - 5am) *Lil Kesh is
lucky right; some people got total
ban*

As a passionate lover of music, I
really don't dig hiphops but I do
listen to them often *story for
another day*, I took my time to go
through songs banned by NBC in
recent times past coupled with the
lyrics of each song and I couldn't
help but be amazed.

not all that is to them*.

Lil Kesh who made his career debut
with "Shoki" and "Lyrically" has
suffered the same feat as other
senior colleagues in the music
industry and this makes me wonder,
what's so lewd about the lyrics?

fact that it added another dance

Gather up Nigerians, one of the hit songs of last year, Shoki (remix) will no longer be played during the daylight hours in Lagos State.

The song by Lil Kesh, which has always been on the radar of the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) with an earlier issue last year, has been restricted by the regulatory body for regular playing time on radio. The song will now be limited to airplay during ‘watershed’ time, that is, between 10pm and 5am.
This was communicated in a release by the NBC dating Wednesday, January 7, 2014, and signed by the Director of Lagos Zone, Ifeoma Theo-Obodo.
“I have been directed to involve all radio stations under Lagos zone that the above named musical, “Shoki” by Lil Kesh featuring Davido and Olamide contains some connotations of foul impressions.” The letter read. “This makes it highly suggestive of obscene representation and could corrupt the sensibilities of the impressionable and underaged.”
“In view of the above, the musical in question can only be allowed on air during watershed period, that is between 10.00pm and 5.00am. Stations are advised to adhere strictly to this provision of the Code and ensure strict compliance please.”
It can be recalled that towards the end of last year, this particular song was reported to have been banned by NBC for lewdness. This led to widespread protests especially across social media.
The media adviser of the NBC who spoke at a press briefing then, said, “the song ‘Shoki’ which is a Yoruba slang for ‘quickie’ has spread to other African countries and everybody is singing what they don’t understand, even my two year old daughter came to my room and just started muttering ‘ahh shoki’, it’s a scary experience, so we banned it”.
However, hours after, NBC released a press statement, denying placing a ban on the song, and stressing that they only sanctioned a radio station for playing the song during “family time”.
“We at the National Broadcasting Commission can confirm there was no such ban. A club version of the song cannot be played on radio. The club version contains vulgar lyrics, which was played around 9am, which is considered as ‘family time’. There is a broadcast code to follow by every broadcast station and this station failed to comply. This said station has been sanctioned for playing a club version during family time. We at the NBC did not ban ‘Shoki’- by Lil Kesh. We simply asked the suitable broadcast version to be played on the radio.…

I have known a girl for like 4yrs now! We became friends and very close ! And I fell in love with her but she turned me down cos she was dating a guy then! ...and oh the Powells, my skin twitches wenever it comes to their scene in season 1 dey were so weird but surprisingly in season 2 they loosened up.
My best scene in season 2 was when Mrs. Powell was walking majestically to see the 'bodyguard' her husband hired and she missed her step and fell when she saw he was a sizzling hot guy. I laf each time i recal that scene.

Hehehehehehehehe *seems like most genevieve don't like getting old* abi na! Plus I remember that scene, very funny! Tony Bishara! And I love that scene where Rosie was making out with Spence and Mrs. Powell caught them and she was like 'Santos Dios'.

I'd give the film 4.5 rating! Over 5 that is!

Before last year went by, I did enjoy myself movie-wise as I watched some scintillating movie series *definitely American; abi naija don get series ni?*. . . Top two were DEVIOUS MAIDS from the producers of Desperate House Wives and REVENGE. . . Well, unfortunately, I anticipated Season 3 of Devious House Maids but it never started till 2014 ran out but I started Season 4 of Revenge sha!

Devious Maids is a series revolving around 4 Latina Maids excluding a dead one which gave the film a crime undertone. The film can be categorized under drama, family, crime and much more! It is funny, well-scripted, full of witty sayings and dramatic. . . This isn't really a review per say; it's my way of trying to discuss my best characters and 'worst' *emotions at work* in the film.

As for me, I love Carmen; her sense of humour is the best! Followed by Rosie, the woman always saying 'Santos Dios' who also screw and fell in love with Peri Westmore's (her boss) husband, then I love the Powells (too much marital drama, secrets and mysteries), I love Zoila and her ugly Pablo *lol*, then Genevieve (Janvieve); she's so funny; who else am I missing? Oh! Marisol! She's in a class of hers and I like Remi and Valentina (only their relationship palava). And I also love
Taylor Stappord (Marisol's employer)

Coming to worst characters, I hate Opal, that lesbian maid, I don't like much of Peri Westmore, Olivia (Michael Stappord's ex wife) etc.

Conclusively, my top two loves in Devious Maids are Carmen Luna and The Powells.
