Fresh defection of over 200 chieftains of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Plateau State to All Progressives Congress, APC, is posing a threat to PDP’s confidence of winning the coming elections. The former PDP members claimed they left the party after realising that PDP was planning to disrupt the current zoning formula in the state, saying the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Jeremiah Useni, would want a second term if he won the March 2, 2019 election. One of the reasons Useni was favoured during the PDP primaries was due to his age and the agreement that he would have one tenure in office. However, PDP has debunked the decampees’ allegations, saying it was baseless and cooked up to smear the rising profile and influence of the PDP. Spokesman of the defectors, Garba Abubakar, who spoke at APC rally in Mangu Local Government Area of the state, said they were “initially endeared to PDP by Senator Useni’s declaration that he would serve only one term in office in accordance with the now entrenched zoning principle in the state. “But based on the happenings within the party, there is a plan by PDP gubernatorial candidate to renege on the agreement, hence the collective decision of some members to jettison PDP for APC whose candidate is going for second term. “Senator Useni who had invited us to work with him in his governorship campaign has declined to restrict himself to the one term in office if he eventually wins in the forth-coming elections. This did not go down well with some of the supporters and party members from Mangu LGA. “The Central zone is next in line to benefit from the zoning agreement in the state and Mangu LGA being an interested party will not concede her chance by supporting Useni as he would further delay their chance of contesting the governorship by another four years. “We would rather pitch camp with the incumbent Governor Simon Lalong of APC who is seeking a second term and who is by the constitution restricted to just two terms from which he had already served one.” Reacting to the allegation, Chairman, Media and Publicity Committee of PDP Campaign Council, Mr. Abraham Yiljap, said: “It is a mischief to say Senator Useni is scheming for eight years. “The gubernatorial candidate has repeatedly stated that he was going in for just four years after which he will hand over to young ones. APC just wants to deceive people of Mangu. I want to say that he is going in for just four years. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2019/02/setback-hits-plateau-pdp-as-hundreds-defect-to-apc/amp/ Mynd44, lalasticlala |
Modarun:How many people died while applying for all the Npower programs? Were the programs not accessible for all? CBN , Customs are all accessible. Is it not the same immigration job that PDP used to scam the common "man" billions and also ensured many lives of these common "men" were lost too? Your brain no dey work again. E don pack up |

When I said PDP are ready to kill their way into power people argued it. I still maintain that PDP are behind the herdsmen issue, the bandits in zamfara, the unrest in Jo's and the Boko haram issue. I have said my own. As long as they get to power, everyone and everything else is dispensable |

Bobugee:You are sounding absolutely silly. PDP led us into recession and their own people admitted to this well known fact and you are still blaming APC for a recession PDP gave us? Have you been living on Pluto all this while not to have heard Okonjo Iweala declaring this? Even soludo and Sanusi declared same. How old are you? Buhari gave bailouts every month to save this country and he successfully prevented the worst from happening to this country. PDP = Recession. Homegrown Nigerian businesses never packed up. Instead more sprang up as Buhari encouraged us all to begin looking inward. Our textile mills which packed up and left under PDP are back now under buhari Bata shoe company which packed up under PDP is now back. Peugeot which packed up under PDP is now back We have cut down our agricultural import needs from $1.9b to a mere $100m We now produce our own fertilizer, most of our rice as well. Our GDP is fast rising as it should be. I think you need to go back to those who brainwashed you with these lies you are spewing and Tell them that know nothing |
Bobugee:You are so gullible. |
ArmaniUhuru:Bloody liar. List the 100 foreign companies that left Nigeria under Buhari. Do you know that in PDPs 16 years of useless leadership about 800 companies packed up and either shut down or left Nigeria? That's an average of 200 every 4 years. There is no statistics of 11 million people who lost their jobs under buhari and even if I want to tow your path of argument what do you think happens in a recession especially one PDP led us into due to massive looting and depleting our foreign reserves? You paid PDP sycophants need to be more intelligent in the nonsense you write |

Edo North senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP ) Engr. Abubakar Momoh got the shock of his life at the palace of the Otaru of Auchi, HRH Alhaji Aliru Ikelebe III on Tuesday. The monarch told the candidate Auchi people would vote for the party that fixed the gully erosion problem that ravaged the community for many years. It was former Governor Adams Oshiomhole that solved the gully erosion problem. Momoh was at the Otaru’s palace to seek endorsement of the monarch for Saturday’s polls. The Otaru reportedly told Momoh that he would only give his support to the party and people that rescued the community from total collapse when it was ravaged by erosion. The Daniyan of Auchi Kingdom, Alhaji Usman Abudah, who confirmed the development, told newsmen that the Otaru of Auchi also advised all political office seekers to desist from the “unacceptable efforts to involve the palace of the Otaru of Auchi with their misgiving political pursuits.” His words: “Specifically Hon Abubakar Momoh who has on numerous occasions been seeking for political positions at the wrong time in wrong places visited the palace of the Otaru of Auchi and on each occasion, HRH Otaru of Auchi explicitly advised him to find a way to fall into line of the realities of the moment. “The Otaru said he will never while alive not to be appreciative of any government that came to the aid of the community during the problematic erosion problem which Oshiomhole government in collaboration with the World Bank solved for the community. “Otaru will never in his life mislead his people he has spoken and will continue to speak the truth to the people of his domain. http://thenationonlineng.net/auchi-monarch-to-pdp-well-support-party-that-fixed-auchi-gully/ Mynd44, lalasticlala |

The Arewa Consultative Forum, northern Nigeria’s foremost socio-cultural group, on Tuesday formally endorsed the reelection bid of President Muhammadu Buhari, saying he deserves a second term to consolidate on his achievements. Mr Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is being challenged by dozens of candidates in the presidential election holding on Saturday. The Northern Elders Forum earlier last week endorsed the candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, for the election. But announcing its stand on Tuesday in Kaduna, the ACF said its endorsement was because of the contributions of Mr Buhari’s government to the economic and infrastructural development of the nation. The acting chairman of the national executive committee of the forum, Musa Kwande, disclosed the decision in a statement made available to journalists shortly after a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the forum presided over by the chairman of the group, Adamu Fika. Mr Kwande said the forum evaluated the political situation in the country and its attendant consequences for the continued peace, unity and progress of our dear country Nigeria. He said the ACF took special note that the major political parties have nominated prominent northerners for the February 16 presidential election. He said the forum decided to back Mr Buhari after carefully studying the antecedents of the major presidential candidates, the manifestoes and policy documents of their parties, alongside the need for social, political and economic stability in the country. The ACF said, “Certain attributes such as clarity of thought, unity of purpose, content of character and morality of the candidates, their leadership qualities, performance and general acceptability of the candidates contesting for not only the office of the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria but also for other elective offices should guide voters in making their choices. “The decision on who to elect should not be based on any form of inducements, mob hysteria, intimidation or false promises, but by calm and deliberate consideration of the candidates’ qualities of leadership, performance and moral standing in their public and private lives. “Other considerations such as the capacity to tackle security challenges, fight corruption, and boost the economy by way of diversification away from over-dependence on oil, and infrastructural development in order to promote growth. “The integrity of the candidate to raise the image of Nigeria in the comity of nations is equally important in the election. “The ACF notes the strides taken by the Buhari administration to improve and reposition the nation economically. A few examples are the multi-billion dollar Mambilla hydropower project, the exploration of oil in Gongola Basin of the Benue Trough, the Baro inland port, the North East Development Commission, the ongoing rail line projects nationwide and other critical infrastructural development projects. “Upon the contributions of the incumbent government to the economic and infrastructural development of the nation, and the government’s achievements in combating insurgency and other insecurity problems bedeviling the country, ACF believes that President Muhammadu Buhari deserves a second term to consolidate on his achievements,” he said. The forum called on politicians, their supporters and the electorate to avoid all forms of violence before, during and after the elections. “This is because violence is never a solution to any grievances. It not only destroys our democratic process but also lives and property. “Democracy is a contest of ideas and reasons. Also, ACF urges the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to live up its promise and assurances for credible, free and fair elections. “ACF equally calls on the Police and other security agencies involved in providing security to the election process to remain neutral and professional in their conduct https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/312228-just-in-arewa-consultative-forum-backs-buharis-reelection-bid.html Mynd44, Lalasticlala, oam4j |
