Manchester United called police to their Carrington training ground after a thief stole expensive jewellery from the dressing room. According to The Sun, police are said to have been called to the Red Devils' multi-million pound training ground last week to investigate the crime, flagged by Phil Jones after he noticed expensive earrings belonging to his fiancee had disappeared. The publication quotes a source as saying: "Officers visited the training ground last week and spoke to several workers there as part of the investigation. They have also examined CCTV and computer records. http://www.offkick.com/2017/02/manchester-united-call-in-police-after.html |

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has said his heated touchline argument with assistant coach Angelo Alessio during Chelsea's 3-1 win over Arsenal was caused by a mistake on marking assignments at a corner kick, and admitted that his desire to win makes him "capable of killing anybody" in the heat of a match. Alessio incurred Conte's wrath shortly before half-time at Stamford Bridge when Gabriel forced a save from Thibaut Courtois with a free header from an Arsenal short corner, the Chelsea head coach grabbing and shouting at his assistant before sending him down the touchline to relay a message to the team. Chelsea were leading 1-0 at the time and went on to beat Arsenal 3-1 to maintain their nine-point lead at the top of the Premier League, but after the match Conte gave an insight into his management style. http://www.offkick.com/2017/02/antonio-conte-reveals-why-he-attacked.html |
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says he has been hugely impressed by Gabriel Jesus' start to life at Manchester City and will keep him in his first XI despite Sergio Aguero spending time on the substitutes' bench. Jesus continued his superb form after joining up with the club in January by netting two goals - including a stoppage-time winner - in Sunday's 2-1 home victory against Swansea City. The 19-year-old is only the fifth City player to score in his first two Premier League starts, with his exploits helping Guardiola's men up to third in the table. http://www.offkick.com/2017/02/gabriel-jesus-will-always-start-ahead.html |
Jose Mourinho has reportedly told Manchester United hierarchy to sale Anthony Martial so that he can fund the signing of Antoine Griezmann. In recent weeks, it has been reported that Manchester United are prepared to meet the release clause of the Atletico Madrid, which is said to be £86.4m, but it appears that they will have to sell players in order to pay the second highest fee ever in the transfer market. According to The Independent, United will allow Martial to leave the club just two years after shelling out £36m to sign the Frenchman from AS Monaco. http://www.offkick.com/2017/02/manchester-united-to-sell-anthony.html |

Jose Mourinho has insisted that Manchester United are no longer in a position to just sign their rivals' best players every season due to the increased competition in the Premier League, taking a swipe at Bayern Munich, Pep Guardiola and the Bundesliga in the process. The Old Trafford side regularly raided their competitors during Alex Ferguson's time in charge of the club, but Mourinho has warned such transfers have become nearly impossible these days, whereas Bayern still employ that exact strategy in Germany. "That is the new football. When previously you were speaking about Sir Alex Ferguson's time, this is not Germany," Mourinho was quoted as saying by The Telegraph. http://www.offkick.com/2017/02/jose-mourinho-trolls-pep-guardiola-for.html |

Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has apologised publicly after appearing to "like" a social media post calling for Arsene Wenger to step down. The Gunners' 3-1 loss to Premier League leaders Chelsea on Saturday led to more calls for Wenger's resignation among supporters on social media, and Oxlade-Chamberlain seemed to endorse one of them by hitting "like" on a Twitter post by the popular Arsenal Fan TV. http://www.offkick.com/2017/02/arsenal-midfielder-alex-oxlade.html |
Brazil legend Pele believes Neymar's ability in the air is the only aspect of the Barcelona star's game that is not superior to that of Cristiano Ronaldo Pele, whose father Dondinho once scored five headed goals in a professional game in Brazil, is considered one of the greatest headers of the ball in the game's history, and has always exhibited a particular focus on the skill when analysing other greats of the game. Neymar, known for his silky dribbling and eye for goal, is not much of an aerial threat. And the three-time World Cup winner told ESPN Brasil it's the only skill in which Ronaldo is superior to Brazil's No. 10. http://www.offkick.com/2017/02/neymar-much-better-than-cristiano.html |

Chelsea have been handed a major transfer boost after Alvaro Morata told friends he expects to move to Stamford Bridge rather than Arsenal. The Spain international is said to be a target for both the Blues and Premier League rivals Arsenal, while Atletico Madrid and a string of Chinese clubs have also shown an interest. According to The Telegraph, Morata is after more regular first-team football and has gone so far as to tell close friends that he expects to join Chelsea at the end of the season. http://www.offkick.com/2017/02/chelsea-beat-arsenal-to-signing-of.html |
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed he tried to sign N'Golo Kante before his move to Chelsea insisting that his countryman is a key figure in Chelsea's Premier League title charge. Wenger's men travel to Stamford Bridge on Saturday sitting third in the table, behind Tottenham on goal difference and 10 points shy of Antonio Conte's leaders following a dispiriting 2-1 reverse against Watford on Tuesday. Chelsea drew 1-1 at Liverpool on the same evening and Wenger recognised a familiar stand-out performer in ex-Leicester City midfielder Kante, who is on course for a second top-flight title in as many seasons. http://www.offkick.com/2017/02/i-tried-to-sign-kante-for-arsenal.html |

Atletico Madrid defender Lucas Hernandez has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting his girlfriend. The 20-year-old was arrested at 2:30am local time on Friday morning after a female was hospitalised, although her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. Hernandez, a France Under-21 international, is expected in court in Majadahonda - a district northwest of Madrid - on Friday for a hearing and accused of an offence of gender violence. http://www.offkick.com/2017/02/atletico-madrid-defender-lucas_3.html |
National League side Sutton United have been handed a dream FA Cup fifth-round draw, with Arsenal at home in what could be the biggest game in their history. Fellow non-League side Lincoln City also drew top-flight opposition in Burnley, who they will face at Turf Moor. The FA Cup has never had two teams from outside the Football League in its fifth round until this season, with Lincoln seeing off Championship title contenders Brighton & Hove Albion before Sutton stunned Leeds United - similarly perched in the second tier - at Gander Green Lane. Lincoln City eliminated Ipswich Town as well as Brighton en route to the fifth round, but their visit to Burnley is a daunting challenge - only Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal have picked up more home Premier League points than the Clarets this season. http://www.offkick.com/2017/01/wolves-vs-chelsea-sutton-united-vs_30.html |
Former Manchester United and England star David Beckham has revealed how the club had agreed terms with Barcelona prior to his move to Real Madrid back in 2003. After six Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy, Beckham ended his association with boyhood club United as he joined Madrid in a deal worth around €35 million. But Beckham says that the Red Devils had already agreed terms with the Liga club's huge rivals, although the former England captain was adamant he would only leave for the Bernabeu. http://www.offkick.com/2017/01/manchester-united-almost-sold-me-to.html |
Former Real Madrid and Manchester City star Robinho believes a blunder which saw Chelsea begin selling shirts bearing his name while he was still a Real Madrid player was a key reason why his potential move to Stamford Bridge fell through in 2008. The Brazilian forward ultimately joined Manchester City instead, where he went on to score 14 goals in 41 Premier League appearances, but things could have been very different had his planned move to Stamford Bridge not fallen through. So confident were Chelsea of completing the move, which was due to be worth £29million, it was possible to buy replica shirts featuring his name from the Blues' online store. http://www.offkick.com/2017/01/real-madrid-blocked-my-chelsea-move-due.html |
Martin Atkinson has been confirmed as the referee for Chelsea's upcoming London derby with Arsenal. Atkinson took charge of the Gunners' 2-1 loss to Manchester City earlier this season - his last Arsenal encounter - and was also the man in the middle for Chelsea's 2-0 defeat by Tottenham at White Hart Lane. This weekend's encounter will be the second between Chelsea and Arsenal this season, with the latter having triumphed 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium in September. http://www.offkick.com/2017/01/atkinson-to-referee-chelsea-vs-arsenal.html |
Former Premier League referee Howard Webb has revealed he once booked Chelsea legend Didier Drogba for the most bizarre reason - taking too long in the toilet! The unusual incident occurred at the start of the second-half in a match between Chelsea and Middlesbrough. Narrating the story to BT Sport, Howard restarted the match despite the fact the Blues were down to 10 men as Drogba was “sat on the toilet” and unaware the match had restarted. http://www.offkick.com/2017/01/howard-webb-once-booked-didier-drogba.html |

Arsenal are ready to challenge Manchester United to the signing of Antoine Griezmann, according to The Mail on Sunday. Manchester United are said to be leading the race to sign the £85 million rated striker who was voted the third best in the world over the last year. Having made an initial approach to sign the France international in the summer, Arsenal are reportedly ready to match his release clause, though the Red Devils are expected to have the upper hand when it comes to wages. http://www.offkick.com/2017/01/arsenal-to-rival-manchester-united-with.html |
Almost 15 years after leaving Paris, Ronaldinho has visited former club Paris Saint-Germain ahead of Sunday's crucial Ligue 1 match against Monaco. The former Brazil international made his name at PSG between 2001 and 2003, before going on to join Barcelona, where he helped to kickstart an era of success at Camp Nou. Ronaldinho has returned to the French capital to spend the weekend with his old team, which will culminate in him watching the Monaco game at Parc des Princes. http://www.offkick.com/2017/01/ronaldinho-returns-to-psg-ahead-of-psg.html |
According to the Sun, Wayne Rooney is ready to quit Manchester United this summer for £1,000,000 a week deal in the China Super League. Former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has hailed former Liverpool captain and England teammate Steven Gerrard as his toughest opponent ever in Premier League. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been handed a four-match touchline ban and fined £25,000 for pushing fourth official Anthony Taylor during Arsenal's win over Burnley. The Frenchman was sent off in the closing stages of that match and will now miss some key games for his club as they prepare for tough trips to Southampton in the FA Cup and Chelsea in the Premier League. Wenger will return for Arsenal in time for his side’s big game against Liverpool on 4 March. http://www.offkick.com/2017/01/breaking-news-arsene-wenger-gets-four.html |
