Politics / Blatter & Platini Banned For EIGHT Years by ofofoCEO(f): 10:37am On Dec 21, 2015
The Fifa and Uefa presidents have both been banned with immediate effect from all football-related activities for almost a decade by the Independent Ethics Committee
Fifa president Sepp Blatter and his Uefa counterpart Michel Platini have both been banned from all football-related activity for eight years with immediate effect, the Independent Ethics Committee of world football's governing body has confirmed.

Both men were provisionally suspended in October in relation to a payment of CHF 2,000,000 (£1.34m) from Fifa - and authorised by Blatter - to Platini in February 2011.

Blatter and Platini claimed this related to work carried out by the former France captain for Fifa between 1999 and 2002, citing a "gentleman's agreement".

However, in its ruling published on Monday, the adjudicatory chamber of the Ethics Committee said that the payment had "no legal basis in the written agreement signed between both officials on 25 August 1999".

Furthermore, Blatter's assertion of an oral agreement was "determined as not convincing and was rejected by the chamber".

The 79-year-old Swiss, who had already announced his intention to stand down before February's FIFA presidential elections, has been fined 50,000 Swiss francs, with Platini fined 80,000 Swiss francs..

Politics / Gunmen Abduct Commissioner, Gov Dickson’s Sister In Bayelsa by ofofoCEO(f): 7:35am On Dec 21, 2015
Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Sunday evening abducted the Bayelsa State Commissioner for Local Government Madam Serefina Otazi, family sources told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Mr Patrick Oba, nephew to the Commissioner, said she was kidnapped in Otuoke at gun point on her way to attend funeral at Ewoi Community in Ogbia Local Government Area.

The kidnappers reportedly whisked away the victim who was in company of two ladies when they attacked and took away her car keys.

Otazi had served as Commissioner for Women Affairs and Acting Chairman of Ogbia LGA.

Mr Endurance Frank, a family member, told NAN that the family had reported the incident to the Police and prayed that the victim would be released unhurt.

Also, Police in Bayelsa on Sunday confirmed the kidnap of Miss Nancy Dickson, younger sister to Gov. Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa.

Asinim Butswat, an Assistant Superintendent of Police and spokesman for Bayelsa Police Command, confirmed the development to NAN in Yenagoa.

Butswat said Nancy, 26, was abducted in her shop located on Okaka Road, Yenagoa the state capital, on Saturday.

Butswat said the gunmen, who drove in an ash Lexus SUV, trailed Nancy to her shop and whisked her away at about 2.50 p.m.

The spokesman said police had commenced stop and search on vehicles in Yenagoa to track down the perpetrators.

Politics / FG To Save N700bn Yearly On Subsidy Removal by ofofoCEO(f): 9:42am On Dec 18, 2015
The Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) has given a nod to the proposed oil subsidy removal, stating that government would save N700 billion yearly from the intervention.
Acting Executive Secretary of NEITI, Dr. Orji Ogbonnaya Orji, at a Roundtable on Subsidy Removal Debate Organised by Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja yesterday, stated that the proposal to remove fuel subsidy was consistent with the recommendations contained in NEITI’s independent audit reports conducted in the last six years.
Orji said: “Removal of subsidy will free over N700 billion annually which can be channelled to provision of infrastructure like roads, education, health service, power, security, creation of jobs and basic benefits for the poor in the society.
“In removing the subsidy, it is the position of NEITI that the government considers progressive measures to put the welfare of the ordinary citizens at the centre of the implementation, by creation of palliative programmes to reduce the pain temporarily that may be experienced by the poor and vulnerable in the short term.
“It is also part of NEITI‘ s recommendations that the government should take steps to either make the refineries work, privatise them or create the enabling environment for private refineries to thrive.” The NEITI boss underlined the need to ensure that the implementation of the proposal is gradual, slow but steady.
According to him, Nigeria spent over N4 trillion on subsidy between 2006 and 2012. “From NEITI’s independent audit report, over N4 trillion has been paid as subsidy to marketers from 2006-2012. The breakdown of the subsidy shows that N219.7 billion was paid as subsidy in 2006. This rose to N236.64 billion in 2007 and N360.1 billion in 2008.

Politics / Senate Orders Reinstatement Of Policeman Suspended For 21 Years by ofofoCEO(f): 8:35am On Dec 18, 2015
On Tuesday, the Senate ordered the IG of Police, IGP, Solomon Arase to, as a matter of urgency, reinstate, promote and pay all arrears due to Sergeant Amos Olaniyan, who was verbally suspended from the
Nigerian Police Force 21 years ago.

These resolutions were sequel to a petition presented by Senator Solomon Adeola from Lagos West on behalf of one of his constituents, Amos Olaniyan, on October 6, 2015.

Olaniyan was verbally suspended in 1994 on an allegation of bribery from which an Orderly Room Trial discharged and acquitted him but the Police refused to recall him even as he was in possession of his identity card and uniform.

He had written petitions to previous IGs of Police and the Police Service Commission and even late President Umaru Yar’adua, to no avail. Senate President Bukola Saraki, noted that Nigerians who cannot afford legal fees should seek redress at the Senate…… An elated Amos says he can now finally afford to marry a 2nd wife.

Politics / Top 7 Most Influential Nigerians 2015 by ofofoCEO(f): 12:07pm On Dec 06, 2015
Your favourite amebo compiles a list of the 7 most influential Nigerians as far as 2015 is concerned. This list aims to list out 7 Nigerians who call the shots in the country, people whose influence are too essential, people whose actions and influence can have either negative or positive effect (s) on the country.

1. Mohammed Buhari

His excellency Muhammadu Buhari: a former military ruler in Nigeria and a three time unsuccessful presidential candidate before finally getting it right in the 2015 Presidential poll boosts a huge influence base coupled with being the President of Nigeria. This man has strong Muslim ties and very deep pocket to fund his political aspirations. His support for ‘Sharia law’ caused him political difficulties among Christian voters in the past, he now however has a good follower base from the Christian community in Nigeria and this translated to his defeat of Christian ex-President, Jonathan Goodluck. Buhari remains a ‘folk hero’ to many for his vocal opposition to corruption. He is the most influential person on this list as he doubles as the leader of the most populous black nation on the planet and as the Minister of Petroleum for one of the world’s highest oil producing countries.

2. Aliko Dangote

Aliko Dangote GCON needs no introduction to an average Nigeria. However, for the sake of posterity, Aliko Dangote is a Nigerian billionaire, who owns the Dangote Group. Despite a weaker Nigerian currency and strife in the northern part of Nigeria, Aliko Dangote is still Africa's richest man by far, even after a net worth decline of nearly $5 billion in the past year. Mr. Aliko Dangote, the President of Dangote Group, is also rated among the 100 most powerful people in the world by Forbes Magazine. We notice Aliko has been some way connected to many Nigerian presidents both Present and past which does show he romance with the Nigerian Government with his money and status.

3. Bola Tinubu
The Jagaban himself, Bola Ahmed Tinubu a one-time Senator for the Lagos West constituency in Lagos State, he also was elected governor of Lagos State (1999 – 2007) and he is the national leader of the All Progressives Congress. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu picked the gauntlet and battled the challenges of his rather traumatic and difficult youth with courage only attributable to the lion-hearted. As an astute political strategist, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was actively involved in the creation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as recourse to the decimated Action Congress (A.C) and Congress for Progressive Change (C.P.C). This merger saw the overthrow of incumbent PDP government in 2015. Tinubu has successfully established himself as a political god-father with aspirants running to him for political favours. Let it be known that the current V.P. (Yemi Osinbajo) was handpicked by the Jagaban himself.

4. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan:

Despite losing the 2015 Presidential polls, ex-President Goodluck Jonathan attained statesman status after conceding defeat to Mohammed Buhari. At that point the destiny of the most populous black nation on the planet rested on the shoulders of one man, Goodluck Jonathan. the onus had fallen on Jonathan to either do what was right or further fuel tensions that were already high nationwide.

5. Abubakar Shekau:

The cat with well over nine lives, the power Shekau controls cannot be questioned as he is the leader of the most dreaded Islamic sect cum terrorist group, Boko Haram in West Africa. It is alleged that Boko Haram under the command of Shekau controls more than half of the North East states. Boko Haram under Shekau was once named the deadliest terrorist group in the world by the United States, beating the Taliban and Al Qaeda to the infamous position. Boko Haram has strong links with ISIS, Al Qaeda and the deadliest extremist groups you can think or imagine. Shekau is also tops the most wanted list of many top Nigerian and International Intelligence agencies.

Abeg if Abubakar Shekau (Boko Haram) declare a month holiday in your office or schools or state and the federal government goes against it, who will you follow…..? LOL, I thought as much.

6. Bukola Saraki:
Bukola Saraki as most of us know, is the current senate president of the federal republic. He was governor of Kwara state from 2003 to 2011. That Senator Bukola Saraki is one of the most influential politicians in Nigeria today is like stating the obvious. Or how else does one describe Saraki whose political might ‘rattled’ the All Progressives Congress, (APC), structure. Today, the medical doctor turned politician has stepped into the big shoes of his late father, Dr. Olusola Saraki, who was the political godfather in Kwara state in his life time. Bukola’s power and influence can be attributed to hard work, grassroots politicking, and a legacy of philanthropy. He is the number three citizen of the Federal republic.

7. Nnamdi Kanu

One man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter. Nnamdi Kanu is a political activist based in the United Kingdom. He is a leading member of separatist organization Indigenous People of Biafra, and the director of London-based radio station Radio Biafra. Over the past 12 months, Nnamdi Kanu has successfully built a name for himself as a thorn in Nigeria’s flesh. Love him or hate him, one thing you cant take from Kanu is his Large follower base both at him and in diaspora. He has reignited the fire of Biafra which if not properly controlled can raze down the house, Nigeria.

Okay, there you have it, the seven prominent Nigerians that have greatly influenced the country in 2015, how nice.

Politics / Arms Deal Fraud: My Hands Are Clean, Ex Finance Minister Cries by ofofoCEO(f): 4:38pm On Dec 03, 2015
** Exonerates herself
** Hits out at Edo State Governor, Oshiomole

Former Finance Minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has said that she has nothing to do with the alleged $2 billion arms deal fraud for which former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki has been accused.

Okonjo-Iweala who defended herself via a statement released on Wednesday, December 2, 2015, by her media aide, Paul Nwabuikwu.
The statement reads in part:

“It has become a pattern of behavior that each time Dr. Ngozi OKonjo-Iweala is internationally recognized, Governor Oshiomole and his cohorts embark on a cynical and devious ploy of trying to pull her down locally.”
“Just last night, December 1st, Dr Okonjo-Iweala was honored at a high profile event attended by Vice President Joe Biden and former President Bill Clinton. Dr Okonjo Iweala was honored alongside Michael Bloomberg, Bill and Melinda Gates and Mo Ibrahim for their contributions to global development and humanity.”
“Gov Oshiomole and his cohorts should realize that their ill-motivated attempts to taint Dr Okonjo Iweala’s reputation will never succeed!”

The former minister made the comments after Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole said that she should face criminal prosecution.

There is no love lost between this pair as Gov. Oshiomhole has frequently criticized Okonjo-Iweala over her handling of the economy during her tenure as Finance Minister during the past administration.

News reaching your favourite amebo has it that the Divisional Police Officer who battered and brutalized a pregnant woman and made her lose her baby has been removed.

The sad case of police brutality came to the fore last weekend when the woman reported how Samuel had tortured her and had her locked up when she went to see her husband who was detained at the station and made the mistake of making a phone call to her brother-in-law to intimate him of the case.

Reacting to the incident, the CP said when he heard of it, he immediately ordered a discreet investigations into it and at the end, Samuel was indicted and he ordered his immediate removal.

“The DPO involved has been removed and moved to the state headquarters. I have mandated a team headed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Special Investigation and Intelligence Department would handle the matter.

I promise to make our findings public at the conclusion of the case,” Ali reiterated in a statement he sent out to newsmen on the incident.

The incident came barely few weeks after the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, warned officers of the state police command inhuman and unprovoked assaults on innocent civilians.

Foreign Affairs / Boko Haram Terror: Insurgents set 50 Homes On Fire in Niger (PHOTOS) by ofofoCEO(f): 6:26pm On Nov 30, 2015
POSTED BY YOUR FAVOURITE AMEBO amebohub.com

Islamic Insurgents, Boko Haram on last weekend, torched about 50 homes and killed four people in a Niger border village, a local official said on Monday.

The official, who identified himself as Fougou Boukar, and from the restive Diffa region, said terrorists, numbering 10, fled to Nigeria after the attack that left two people injured.

“There has been enormous damage with about 50 houses burnt. The Boko Haram members were armed with Kalashnikovs and came across the Komadougou Yobe” – river that divides Niger and Nigeria, Boukar told state television.

Thousands of distressed villagers, praying in memory of the victims were shown on the television, with some of them displaying dozens of empty cartridges they had gathered after the attack.

At least the insurgency has killed 17,000 people within and outside Nigeia since it broke out six years ago, making over 2.6 million homeless.

Amebohub recalls that the terrorists had raided the Wogom village located near the southeastern town of Bosso last week, slitting the throat of the Chief Imam in the village, and 17 others.

5. A Real Estate in Abuja

Contrary to wild speculations that Nigerians only live under bridges and low poverty homes, Nigerians are well to do and they value shelter as much as they value any other basic need of man. Nigerians are comfortable in their homelands and not everywhere in Nigeria is a rural dirty suburb as the western media would want to make you believe. Good news to investors, Nigerians appreciate real good houses and we don’t mind spending all our cash just to live comfortably.

God bless Nigeria, Good bless our good people, and God bless the beautiful readers of amebohub. Its your favourite amebor again.

The Akwa Ibom Stadium meets world standard in respect to its sleek design and the array of facilities it has been equipped me. I can boastfully beat my tiny chest anywhere and say this Stadium can go head to head with other critically acclaimed stadiums across the globe. It is of the same high standards as the Old Trafford, San Siro, Alianz Arena, Camp Nou to mention but a few.
