Mr James Maina, 30, met his daughters playing outside their home in Mishomoroni, Mombasa county, Kenya, while their mother wasn't around and he asked them to come in and eat mangoes.

The girls, aged six and four, followed their father into their one-room home and he grabbed a knife and stabbed them. One was stabbed in the chest and the other had her neck slashed.

Rather than call for help, the father, who was reportedly drunk at the time, sat on a keg near where his bleeding daughters lay.

It wasn't until a neighbour named Ms Lina Righa, who feeds the girls in the absence of their mother, called for them for lunch and they didn't respond, that it was discovered something was amiss. Ms Lina sent her child to check on them but the child returned to tell her that the door was locked.

She narrated:

The children usually eat lunch at my house when their mother is not around but when I called them, neither responded. I sent my child to look for them. She told me their door was locked.

As Ms Righa prepared to go and find out where the children were, their mother, a businesswoman, returned home.

Ms Lina continued:

I went with her and knocked on the door. The children’s father did not respond, so we broke down the door. We found him sitting on a jerrican. He said he had killed the children.

Ms Righa, who is the couple’s landlady, said Mr Maina had spent the whole day indoors drinking.

The couple has been living here for four months and the woman has been having problems because of her husband’s drinking. She is the one who has been struggling to feed the family.

Mr Maina’s father, Mr Charles Kimani, acknowledged that his son has had a drinking problem for years, adding that it has been causing problems in his eight-year marriage.

Mombasa Police Commander Johnston Ipara said that Mr Maina was arrested and is being held at the Nyali Police Station.

An American man has gone viral after he took to Twitter to share a date story of two friends, 'male and female' who developed an interest in him but have no idea of his sexual orientation.

The young man, Cody Craig, 23, received a handwritten note from Tanner Forbes, 23, where he wrote that he would be open date him if he's gay, but if he's straight his female friend would like to date him instead.

Taking to Twitter to share the story and how everything unfolded, Craig who works at his local mall in Salt Lake City went for Forbes, confirming that he's gay.

A 26-year-old HIV positive lady Doreen Moraa Morachaa is changing the status quo as she has boldly come out to declare her status on social media.
Doreen Moraa Moracha, a Kenyan lady, thought it wise to inspire others with her story and took to her social media profile to tell it all on how she has been coping with the virus.

According to her, she was born HIV positive to discordant parents (the father is negative but the mother is positive).

While three of her siblings did not have the virus, she and her little brother who has since died were positive.
Moracha revealed that doctors had told her parents that she had only four years to live when she was first diagnosed at eight years.
But 18 years later, Moracha who celebrated her birthday on August 8 said: she is”still here going strong dealing with self-stigma, societal stigma, discrimination and rejection but still standing strong.”

Using her case as an example, Moracha advised all to get tested since HIV is not the death sentence many people fear it to be.

“Most people fear HIV because they know it is a death sentence. Well, I’m here to prove you wrong. I’ve been living positively for 26 years so if it was a death sentence shouldn’t I be dead already?,” she retorted.

Moracha added:

“People say I make HIV look easy but it is easy I am not ready to give a small virus power over my life I accepted my status and every day I declare that I am greater than HIV.

A Yahoo Plus boy in Ghana has cried out for help as he claimed that evil spirits, fire and lions haunt him after his attempt to get rich quick through the fetish means.
According to him, his love to get rich at all cost took him to a spiritualist who claimed to have powers to double his money and make him rich quickly.

Though he adhered to the terms as spelt out by the spiritualist, the money never came and he has been left to battle with evil spirits who have been tormenting his life ever since.
Narrating his story on GHOne TV News, the 27-year-old (name withheld) disclosed that he had travelled abroad to seek greener pastures but it failed.
Upon his return, there was so much pressure on him to make money and he thus decided to turn to a spiritualist for help.

“The spiritualist requested for GHC 1,500 and placed it in a box and [he] was reciting some incantations whiles pushing the box. He also gave me some powder and asked me to sprinkle it whiles he was saying the incantations.
After all this, I realized lots of money in the box and he told me I had to offer a sacrifice before I could use the money. He later said the sacrifice was worth GHC 2,500 and I have to provide it within two days. I complained to him that the initial money I gave to him was lent to me by a friend and that I couldn’t afford such money but he insisted,” he revealed.

Curiously, the troubled young man did not get the money the money he was promised but has had to live in fear because he feels like he is being haunted.

“The spiritualist also asked me to buy a pot, egg, bag and padlock and he will put the money in the pot for me and that the money will be okay for me to use after some few months.
“Since the day I brought the pot home, I do not feel free. I am being haunted and I can’t sleep till the next morning. It is always like I am being haunted by human beings, lions and fire. They appear physically and I don’t know what to do,” he stated.

Thabiso Vasane thought he had found the perfect girlfriend until the romance got ugly and almost cost him his life and a body part.

One of his ears was slashed off by a man who accused him of having an affair with his girlfriend.

Thabiso was rushed to hospital and luckily, doctors managed to stitch his ear back onto the side of his head.

Thabiso, from Brandvlei outside Randfontein, is now in pain but grateful he still has his ear.

“I just thank God that doctors managed to stitch it back, otherwise I would not have this ear,” he said.

Thabiso said his nightmare started in a tavern.

“The man found me with the woman and asked what was I doing with her. I told him she was my girlfriend and he got violent.

“He took out a knife and slashed my ear. It fell onto the floor and I rushed to pick it up.

“He went wild. The other patrons in the bar tried to stop him, but he was crazy.

Thabiso said he met the girl in the tavern several months ago.

“I am still young and I have a future ahead of me. I don’t want to die for a woman. I regret meeting that girl. She lied to me that she was single, knowing that she had someone. These days you don’t know who to trust. I almost died because of her.”

Police spokeswoman Carmen Hendricks said a case of assault was opened at Randfontein Police Station.

“The man was arrested and will appear in court soon,” she said.

[Ms Youssef’s appearance] did not meet societal values, traditions and morals and therefore undermined the reputation of the festival and the reputation of Egyptian women in particular.

Last year singer Shaimaa Ahmed was sentenced to two years in prison although this was later reduced to 1 year after she appeared in a music video in her underwear while suggestively eating a banana.
