Let our government increase the price of housing because our mates overseas are paying 1 million for rent per month or let us start selling hollandia for N13,000 + because that’s what your mates in Canada are paying. The average medical school debt in the US is 215, 000 dollars.

A Nigerian who was trained in Nigeria, giving all the "choice" hostels, giving higher stipends at youth service, would be the first to be insulting the entire system.

Do you know how much they are paid during residency? It can cover such costs. Nigerians also spend money to get there as well....it’s not like USMLE, PLAB or even MCCQE1 is free or something...some of these exams that the students abroad don’t write (apart from USMLE) Just so you know, a Nigerian planning to relocate to Cananda will spend over 900k to write the MCCQE 2...and it’s not like when they write these exams, it is guaranteed they’ll pass at once o.

Medical doctors in US despite their huge wages, owe their student debts for years.

Nigerian medical students also have the opportunity to take loans. In Niger Delta University, Amassoma, students pay as much as N200,000. They can take a loan and when they start working the government takes it back in bits from their salary. I know, for some people, N200,000 is small money compared to the big big school fees people pay overseas but it is commensurate to what you get - bad classrooms, 8 to 9+ years in school e.t.c Somebody will enter school at 18 and graduate at 31...our mates abroad don’t experience such.

Stop comparing Nigeria’s economy with the economy of top countries. Your education is cheaper because your economy is nothing to write home about. Was it not in this forum that someone said Hollandia yoghurt in Canada is over N10,000 whereas we get it here for N600 to N700 maximum? It’s the same with education and cost of living. Our rent is cheap compared to theirs. This Ngige is an olodo. Nigerians who trained outside are also coming back as well.

Foundation training is same as internship or housemanship. Those your friends are not truthful...

Oga doctors on NYSC are not house officers. You google to understand housemanship is first.

Secondly Nigeria is one of few countries in the world that pays house officers. House officers are doctors in training, they do not perform any role in the hospital without supervision.

In the U.S. students pay to enter housemanship. If doctors are demanding we treat them like it is done in other climes then we must start from somewhere.

Doctors don’t do housemanship/internship in the US...do research before typing...A doctor who finishes medical school in the US goes directly into a residency program. In the UK, they pay interns so what are you saying?

No one can write PLAB until they graduate. You must be a doctor to write PLAB (The exam to practice in the UK) What you can write while still in medical school is USMLE for the USA and MCCQE 1 (for Canada and this must be when you’re close to graduating)
