Politics › Re: North-central APC Forum Rejects Calls For Wike's Resignation by Oghene86: 4:25pm On Jan 12 |
ogugwa1992: North-Central APC Forum rejects calls for Wike's resignation, warns against derailing FCT development
The North-Central All Progressives Congress, APC, Forum has opposed calls for the resignation of Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike.
The Forum also kicked against calls on President Bola Tinubu to sack the minister.
National Secretary of the APC, Senator Ajibola Basiru, recently asked Wike to resign his appointment as minister and concentrate on his obsession with the politics of Rivers State.
Basiru made the statement after Wike warned him against dabbling in the political affairs of Rivers State, where the FCT minister is engaged in a political battle with Governor Sim Fubara.
Some Nigerians, who feel displeased with Wike's activities in Rivers State, have also urged President Tinubu to sack him as FCT minister, or redeploy him to another ministry. The Ijaw National Congress, INC, West African Chapter, had urged Tinubu to redeploy Wike to the Ministry of Niger Delta.
Reacting to the developments in a statement by its Chairman, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, on Monday, the North-Central APC Forum said Wike should be left alone to continue his work in the FCT, which it described as part of the North-Central.
The Forum noted that since Wike's became minister of the FCT, the pace of development in the territory has improved with the execution of key infrastructure projects under his watch.
According to the Forum, calls for Wike's resignation, or his removal, amount to attempt to derail the development of the FCT, and throw away the gains recorded in the territory by the Tinubu administration.
The APC Forum stressed that it has no interest in the political crisis in Rivers State, as, according to it, it's only concern was the development of the FCT and by extension, the North-Central. The group equally said it has no interest to join issues with the APC leaders who have called for Wike's resignation.
But it warned those behind the calls to desist, to avoid mass protests in the FCT.
Parts of the statement read, "The North-Central All Progressives Congress, APC, Forum rejects calls for the resignation of Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike. The minister is performing well in the FCT under an APC administration and we frown at such calls, especially as it concerns the development of the FCT, which is part of the North-Central.
"Some people stayed eight years as FCT minister without anything to show for it but under two years Wike has turned the FCT around. Yet some people who we believe are serving their selfish interests are calling for his resignation. This is highly condemnable and we will not allow it, even if the calls are coming from leaders of the party.
"It is wrong for anybody who is considered as a party leader to be calling for Wike's resignation on the grounds that he is not a member of the APC.
"We don't want to join issues with the persons that are making these calls but we advise them to back off.
"Wike is somebody that has added value to this administration, especially when it comes to infrastructural development in the FCT. It is offensive and deeply worrisome to us that people who are supposed to be leaders of the party, particularly the national secretary and the national chairman, are antagonizing him by asking him to resign.
"We believe that those making this call, as well as others calling for Wike's sack, do not mean well for President Bola Tinubu's administration. They also do not want the development of this country.
"As for us in the North-Central APC Forum, what we are after is the development of our region, and we know that Mr President is only interested in the development of the country, to which Wike is contributing a lot."
The Forum disclosed that it had already extended appreciation to Wike his infrastructural projects in the FCT.
"Last year we sent a commendation letter to the FCT minister for his developmental strides in the FCT, which we believe has impacted the development of the North-Central.
"We are warning these businessmen politicians to desist from distracting the FCT minister by calling for his resignation. We are not concerned with the issues in Rivers State and we are warning that even if they are collecting money to take sides in what is going on in Rivers, they should not use that to distract the minister of the FCT."
The Forum stressed that Wike contributed more to the victory of the APC in the 2023 presidential election than most of the party's leaders.
"None of them calling for his resignation contributed as much as Wike to the coming of this administration, even though he is not a member of the party.
"The national chairman and the national secretary know that they did not contribute as much as Wike to the emergence of the President Bola Tinubu administration. So they should not be saying that he is not a member of the party."
The North-Central APC Forum urged Wike to ignore the calls, and continue his work in the FCT.
"We urge the minister to ignore these calls, no matter where they are coming from, and continue developing the FCT," the statement added. Why not South South APC 😂 fake gang |

NwaorguF: Residents of the Federal Capital Territory on Friday described the calls for the resignation of Chief Nyesom Wike as foolish, childish and irrational. “The so-called APC members and leaders are off the rails. They are the most pronounced foes of President Bola Tinubu.” They also described Wike’s performance as wonderful. “Nyesom Wike’s contributions to the development of the FCT, Rivers State and the country are impossible to estimate.” The residents under the auspices of All Abuja Residents Forum (AARF) applauded Wike for contributing to the progress of the country, bringing about deep and profound changes in the Federal Capital Territory and placing premium on service, integrity and efficiency. The stance of the residents was articulated by AARF President, Alhaji Tanko Abubakar during a protest in Abuja. The residents rebuked the APC chieftains and groups for confusing the public on the Rivers State issue. They described the recent comments of the APC National Secretary as distasteful and provocative. The residents underscored the minister’s service to humanity, sense of duty and responsibility. They urged Wike not to allow the negative attitude of some individuals to crush his spirit. “Since his appointment, Nyesom Wike has been alive to his duty to the residents. He has worked assiduously to transform the nation’s capital.” Particularly, the residents commended Wike for tackling thorny issues, stimulating Tinubu’s imagination to new visions of things to be done in the Federal Capital Territory and handling problems with general skill and efficiency. “Chief Nyesom Wike is an honest and highly effective leader. He has built a reputation anchored on integrity over the years. He deserves the biggest thanks for ensuring the development of the Federal Capital Territory and stability of Nigeria” they added Credit: MacDonald Irondu Even Tinubu knows that Wike is not loved in Abuja |

Politics › Re: Fubara: It's Better We All Resign, Rivers Speaker, Amaewhule Declares by Oghene86: 1:49pm On Jan 09 |
Politicstoday: https://leadership.ng/fubara-its-better-we-all-resign-rivers-speaker-declares/
Today during her plenary session, the Rivers State House of Assembly marks a significant escalation in the state's long-running political crisis.
The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule, delivered a scathing assessment of Governor Siminalayi Fubara during the commencement of impeachment proceedings. Below is a word-for-word analysis of the key statements that are currently making the rounds.
1. Siminalayi Fubara is a mistake; Rivers State has never had it this bad: Context: Martins Amaewhule uses this to frame Fubara's entire tenure as a systemic error rather than a series of policy disagreements. My Take: By calling the Governor a "mistake," the Speaker is signaling that the legislative arm no longer recognizes the Governor's political legitimacy. The phrase "never had it this bad" is a hyperbolic appeal to public sentiment, designed to justify the "extreme" measure of impeachment as a necessary corrective action for the state's survival.
2. Sir Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy are nothing but a threat to democracy. Context: The Speaker links the Governor and Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu together as a collective "threat."4
My Take: This is a tactical legal framing. Under Section 188 of the Nigerian Constitution, impeachment requires proof of "gross misconduct." By labeling them a "threat to democracy," the Speaker is elevating administrative lapses (like budget delays) to the level of constitutional subversion, which is easier to defend as a "gross misconduct" charge.
3. He has been saying to his followers that this 10th Rivers Assembly is nothing but a toothless bulldog: Context: Amaewhule is responding to alleged private remarks made by Fubara regarding the legislature’s power.
My Take: This highlights the ego war driving the crisis. The Speaker is using the Governor’s own purported rhetoric—"toothless bulldog"—to goad the other 26 lawmakers into action. It frames the impeachment as a matter of legislative honour and institutional relevance, rather than just a political hit.
4. This is a sad commentary for our democracy: Context: Used when referring to the fact that Rivers is the only state in Nigeria that has allegedly not presented or passed its 2026 Appropriation Bill.
My Take: This is the "hook" for the legal argument. In Nigeria, failing to present a budget is a serious fiscal breach. By calling it a "sad commentary," Amaewhule is attempting to occupy the moral high ground, suggesting that the Assembly is acting out of a sense of duty to democratic norms rather than personal vendetta.
The 7 Allegations Breakdown While the Speaker provided the "rhetoric," the Majority Leader, Hon. Major Jack, read the specific charges, the "word-for-word" allegations in the notice include: 1. Constitutional Breach: Refusal to present the 2026 Budget (Appropriation Bill). 2. Fiscal Misconduct: Spending state funds without legislative approval. 3. Contempt of Judiciary: Refusal to comply with Supreme Court rulings on financial autonomy. 4. Property Destruction: The 2023 demolition of the Assembly complex. 5. Withholding Funds: Allegedly seizing salaries and allowances of the legislature. 6. Obstruction: Hindering the Assembly Service Commission. 7. Executive Interference: Allegedly converting state funds to dollars to influence federal officials.
IN SUMMARY The timing of impeachment saga is crucial. Following Governor Fubara’s December 2025 defection to the APC, many expected the tension to cool. Instead, the video shows that the pro-Wike faction (who also identify as APC) is using Fubara’s own new party platform against him.
The Speaker's language is notably de-personalized at times—insisting the fight is between "the Governor and the Constitution," not Wike and Fubara. This is a deliberate attempt to neutralize the "godfatherism" narrative that has previously gained Fubara public sympathy.
I REST MY CASE Make una resign because you all are useless. |

press9jatv: JUST IN: Rivers APC State Assembly Forum backs Fubara, passes confidence vote on party NWC
Jan 7 2026
The All Progressives Congress (APC) States Assembly Forum (ASAF), has thrown its weight behind the National Working Committee (NWC) declaration of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, as the leader of the party in the state following his recent defection from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling APC. The states Assembly Forum comprises of all elected and serving members.
Gov Fubara’s defection has fuelled controversy with the former governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, accusing him of flouting an agreement reportedly reached and signed in the presence of President Bola Tinubu, prior to the lifting of his suspension that followed the earlier six-month emergency rule in the state.
At the weekend, Wike came under attack from the APC NWC, which insisted that the governor, like in other states is the leader of the party in his state. The NWC also maintained that the FCT minister is not a member of the APC and therefore cannot meddle in the affairs of the party from outside.
The matter, however, escalated when Wike threatened the APC National Secretary, Ajibola Bashiru, over his condemnation of the position of the party’s National Vice Chairman (South-South), Victor Giadom, who stated that Governor Fubara cannot be recognised as the APC leader in Rivers State. Giadom also argued that the governor cannot seek re-election on the APC platform without the support of the FCT minister.
Declaring its support for the Rivers State governor, ASAF, in a statement issued from kaduna on Wednesday, noted that the APC has well-structured rules that clearly define the party’s leadership structure.
In the statement signed by its Director-General, Ambassador Fubara Dagogo, the forum also passed a vote of confidence on the party’s NWC, led by Professor Nentawe Yilwatda. It described the statements by the National Chairman and National Secretary, Ajibola Bashiru, as explicit and consistent with the provisions of the APC constitution.
“Our great party is well structured and has a clear constitution that sets out the party’s leadership structure. So, there is no need for any dispute over the leadership of the APC in Rivers State. Our NWC has addressed that, and we in ASAF believe that Governor Siminalayi Fubara is on the right track as the uncontested leader of our party in his state,” the statement said.
ASAF therefore urged both Governor Fubara and the APC NWC to remain focused and to shrug off what it described as attempts by non-party members to cause division within the Rivers APC and the national leadership. It added that the governor should sustain his current performance, which it said has earned him the support of the people of Rivers State.
The forum further cautioned non-APC members to refrain from delving into the ruling party’s internal affairs. It also warned its members in various states to be cautious of the activities of non-APC members who, it alleged, may attempt to infiltrate the party to destabilise it and cause confusion, as they did in opposition parties ahead of the 2027 elections.
“We urge our members to be vigilant because there is envy from members of the disorganised opposition parties who may try hard to infiltrate the APC and cause confusion aimed at destroying our unity, under the pretext of supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election project in 2027.
“We also warn that non-APC members should stay clear of our party. We have observed that they are not happy with the unity in the APC, which has led to a myriad of opposition defections. They may have mobilised to instigate division and cause confusion in our party ahead of the 2027 elections, while pretending to support the re-election of our president.
“Our joy, however, is that the APC is a party built on a very strong foundation, with the solid commitment of the current NWC and stakeholders, and cannot be infiltrated to create crisis and destruction as they did in their own parties,” the statement added. Fubara enough of all this peace talk you keeping saying every now and then come out for once |

robosky02: Rivers APC Rejects Impeachment Move Against Governor Fubara
The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected moves by the Rivers State House of Assembly to initiate impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, warning that such action could destabilise the State.
The party’s leadership in a statement said it had taken note of “unfortunate developments” emerging from the House of Assembly, stressing that while the legislature remains an independent arm of government with constitutional powers of oversight, the resort to impeachment was unacceptable.
The APC said it could not remain silent while what it described as unresolved internal crises from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were allowed to spill over and threaten the stability of an APC-led government in Rivers State.
According to the party, the impeachment threat appears to be linked to budgetary issues, which it argued do not justify such extreme legislative action.
The party recalled that during the period of emergency rule, a budget was transmitted to the National Assembly by the President in May 2025 and subsequently approved by the Senate on June 25, 2025, and by the House of Representatives on July 22, 2025, with a total allocation of ₦1.485 trillion.
It noted that the budget was designed to run for one year, until August 2026, adding that the governor is not constitutionally compelled to present a supplementary budget if he is satisfied with the existing appropriation.
The APC further pointed out that the Constitution permits a governor to continue spending for up to six months into a new fiscal year.
The Rivers APC therefore urged members of the State House of Assembly, particularly those elected on the party’s platform, to resist what it described as external pressure aimed at destabilising the government.
“We will do everything possible to ensure that the APC-led government of Rivers State is not undermined through internal disagreements,” the statement said.
The party called on lawmakers to immediately discontinue the impeachment process, warning that it could damage the image of the APC and derail ongoing development efforts in the state.
The APC concluded by urging political actors to uphold democratic principles and allow governance to prevail, rather than allowing political rivalries to disrupt stability in Rivers State.
