Mr. President, prioritizing the fight against corruption is crucial. The rampant embezzlement by government officials is staggering, and excessive spending must be curbed. Removing subsidies would burden ordinary Nigerians and impede your ability to govern effectively. Corruption remains the primary obstacle, overshadowing the importance of government social interventions.

Politics / Re: Court Stops Sim Fubara Led Rivers Govt From Withholding Local Govt Allocations by Oghene86: 8:35am On Apr 27
RiversUnited:
The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Friday, barred the Rivers State Government from withholding financial allocations of the 23 Local Government Areas, LGAs, in the state, pending the determination of a suit that was brought before it.

The court, in the ruling that was delivered by Justice James Omotosho, further directed parties in the suit marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/537/2024, which was filed by LGA Chairmen in the state and nine others, to maintain status quo, pending the determination of the matter.

More so, it stopped the Inspector General of Police IGP, Police Commissioner in Rivers, Director General, State Security Service, SSS and its Director, who were cited as defendants in the matter, from withdrawing the security personnel of the LG Chairmen, pending the final resolution of the their motion on notice.

The ruling followed an ex-parte application the plaintiffs argued through their lawyer, Mr. Aliyu Hussein.

Justice Omotosho held that the Rivers State Government should not frustrate or prevent the LG Chairmen from discharging their duties and rendering services to their respective councils till the determination of the suit.

Specifically, the plaintiffs approached the court, praying it for an order of interim injunction to restrain the Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, Chairman, Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Rivers State Government, Attorney General of Rivers and Commissioner for Finance, from witholding the revenue accrued to them.

They also sought order of the court to restrain the IGP, Commissioner of Police in Rivers, the SSS, its Director, SSS in Rivers and the AGF, from withdrawing the security personnel attached to them.

They equally prayed the court to prohibit the defendants from preventing the enforcement or implementation of the newly amended Rivers State Local Government Law N:5 of 2024 pending the determination of the motion.

In a 33-paragraph affidavit in support of the application deposed to by Dr Chidi LLoyd, Chairman of Emohua Local Government, the Chairmen claimed to have been duly elected in a democratically conducted election for a term of three years under the provisions of the Rivers State Local Government Law.

They asserted that they are autonomous and constitutionally recognized as one of the tiers of the government, adding that the Rivers State House of Assembly enacted Rivers State Amended Law to guide their affairs and activities.

They claimed that Rivers State Government, AG and Finance Commissioner, who are not happy with the amended law, have approached the IGP, CP, DG SSS and Director SSS, seeking the withdrawal of policing and other security services from them in order to frustrate the implementation of the amended law.

The Chairmen alleged that the Police Commissioner in the state who has the responsibility to advise IGP on the policing and security needs of Rivers State is under substantial control of Rivers State Government and would implement the directive of the state government.

They averred that it would be impossible for them to carry out their respective functions and duties without the policing and security services of the IGP.

Consequently, they prayed the court to restrain the defendants, especially the Rivers State Government, from taking the law into their hands.

In his ruling, Justice Omotoso ordered all parties in the suit to maintain status quo pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice for interlocutory injunction.

The Judge warned that no party should take any step that would make the motion on notice nugatory.

“The plaintiffs are hereby ordered to serve the motion on notice seeking for interlocutory injunction on the defendants to enable them have the opportunity to respond to same.

“That this matter is adjourned to 2nd day of May, 2024 for the hearing of the motion on notice,” the court held.

Cited as plaintiffs in the matter, are: Dr Chidi Lloyd, Chairman, Emohua Local Government, Hon Alwell Ihunda Chairman, Port Harcourt local government, Dr Nwanosike Samuel, Ikwerre local government area, Barrister George Ariolu, Chairman, Obio-Akpor local government, Dr Obinna Anyawu, Chairman, Etchi local government area and Hon Chidorom Nwaiwu, Chairman, Omuma local government area.

Others include: Dr Hope Ikiriko, Chairman, Ahoada West local government area, Barrister Benjamin Isreal Eke, Chairman, Ahoada East Local Government and Dr Roland Sekibo, Chairman, Akuku-Toru LGA.

Health / Re: What Kind Of Brutal STD/STI Can Cause This, (graphic Picture) by Oghene86: 11:08am On Apr 26
Kyng1:
Good morning Nairalanders, I will try to make this as brief as possible.

It happened last two week's Friday, after sleeping with a prostitute, the sex laster about 49 mins and after ejaculation I saw thick red blood all over my dick, it happened that she was on her period, and hide it from me, which she denied that she thought it has completely dried off, I'm mad at myself because I didn't use a condom. "I haven't been using condom with her though, I last had sex with her about a month plus that was the evening of my marriage day, since then I haven't called or had sex with her, until I went back last two weeks Friday.

So after everything, I went home that evening and took 3 cipro tab, next day, my groin was extremely painful and the lymph nodes on my groin swelled. Two days later I developed a mild fever, accompanied by a light headache, bitter mouth and 4 day's later I had sore throat, and swollen lymph nodes on my both under jaws and front of my right ear. Until now my throat is still sore.

I have taken full pack of cipro tab and other drugs but it's not working, I did syphilis text on Saturday and it came back negative, yesterday I went for more text but the lab attendant isn't around, so I met the Dr on duty and explained everything that happened, he told me not to waste my money to conduct more tests that what I have is chicken pox and not an STD infection, I disagreed because I have previously had chicken pox about 11 years ago, although I had just one boil close to my nose back then when I contracted it.

So he gave me these drugs below, I swallowed it last night and applied the lotion, but instead of the boils to dry down, they became more fresher and ripe when I woke up this morning.

I went to another lab this morning and the Dr I met told me that it's chicken pox, he gave me drugs and injection. I'm highly hoping for it to be effective.

Please, Dr's in the house is this really chicken pox? They're all over my face, little on my head, arms, legs, stomach, beards and back.

You need to run an HIV test, but how can you even have sex without condoms, with the way husband and wives are sleeping around it should be recommended for everyone

Politics / Re: Dangote Refinery Ranked Above 10 Biggest European Refineries by Oghene86: 9:01am On Apr 26
Paraman:
A financial data and media company, Bloomberg, has ranked the Dangote Refinery above the top 10 biggest refineries in Europe.

According to data compiled by the business news platform, the refinery has more capacity than many European ones.

The $20bn-worth refinery located in Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lagos State, can refine 650,000 barrels of petroleum products per day.

The report sighted by our correspondent on Thursday stated that this is over 246,00bpd capacity, more than Shell’s Pernis Refinery, which is located in the Netherlands.

It added that the Pernis Refinery, which has an installed capacity of 404,000bpd, is the biggest in Europe. The BP Rotterdam Refinery in the Netherlands has a capacity of 380,000.

Bloomberg also reported that the GOI Energy ISAB Refinery in Italy was built with a refining capacity of 360,000bpd.

Also, the TotalEnergies Antwerp refining facility in Belgium can refine 338,000bpd.

Others listed in the report were the Orlen Plock Refinery in Poland with 327,000bpd; Shell’s Rheinland in Germany with 327,000bpd; Miro Refinery in Germany with 310,000 capacity; and the ExxonMobil Anterwep Refinery in Belgium with 307,000 capacity.

It added that the Saras Sarroch Refinery in Italy had 300,000 capacity; the ExxonMobil Fawley in England had 270,000bpd capacity.

The Bloomberg report described the Dangote Refinery as a ‘game changer’ and said it was taking advantage of cheaper US oil imports for as much as a third of its feedstock as it started up.

According to analysts, the refinery has been shipping products in recent weeks while readying two units to enable petrol output, which will deliver a long-promised transformation of the fuel market in Nigeria and the region.

“Dangote is going to influence Atlantic Basin gasoline markets this summer and for the rest of the year,” an oil expert, Alan Gelder, told Bloomberg.

According to the average estimate of analysts at WoodMac, FGE, and Citac, the refinery is running at about 300,000 barrels a day, nearly half its nameplate capacity.

The complex has started shipping jet fuel, diesel, and naphtha as it widens to a full slate of products.

Reuters recently reported that the Dangote oil refinery could end a decades-long petrol trade from Europe to Africa, worth $17 billion a year.

Reuters, quoting analysts and traders, said the Dangote refinery was heaping pressure on European refineries already at risk of closure from heightened competition, adding that the refinery would be the largest in Africa and Europe when it reaches full capacity.

About a third of Europe’s 1.33mbpd average petrol exports in 2023 went to West Africa, a bigger chunk than any other region, with most of those exports ending up in Nigeria, Reuters said, quoting Kpler data.

Dangote Refinery has begun selling diesel into the Nigerian market, crashing the pump price from N1,600 to N940 in less than a month.

AnonPoet:

Amidst the the ongoing EFCC saga and media onslaught against the former governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello, a viral letter shows how the former Governor returned surplus funds to the world bank, to the tune of 4.6million US Dollars.

This amongst other reasons earned the former governor accolades allowing other states opportunities to benefit.

Recall the world bank had on numerous occasions awarded Kogi as number one in multiple awards for transparency and fiscal responsibility.

The question now is, if the governor was this transparent with public funds, what then must have resulted in EFCC’s pursuit and media trial, leaving out other governors who have been previously accused? The personal focus and attack on Yahaya Bello may have a political undertone and an agenda yet to he revealed.

Read the letter the World Bank wrote him below;

July 14 2021
His Excellency
Mr. Yahaya Adoza Bello
Exccutive Governor of Kogi State
Office of the Governor
Government House
Lokoja, Kogi State

Why is he hiding? He should take the Letter to EFCC and show them that he's not a thief.
