Contrary to speculations making the rounds in the social media that the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has called off strike, nothing of such is the case, investigation by the Vanguard has shown.

Commenting on the development, the Chairman of the University of Lagos, UNILAG chapter of the union, Dr Dele Ashiru, told our correspondent on Saturday that nothing of such happened.

Ashiru, who is also a member of the National Executive Committee of the union, said the union was still on strike.

“If we are going to call off our going strike, there is process that will be followed and nothing of such has been done, ” he said.

Earlier today, the ministry of education decleared that all academic should be kept on hold. That's to say all versity, college and even primary schools should be shut down as a precaution measure taken to tackle COVID-19.

Thou, before now some or most universities academic activities has being shut down by ASUU as a result of impementation of IPPIS which they decleared two weeks warning strike assumed to be ending today why school commerce by monday. But with this, the hold is set to be hold for a long time as the ministry has declared academic activities shut down.

Some school even before now has already shut down because of this virus especially school in Lagos. Now tell us, how is the condition in your school like? Both secondary and primary schools close to you.

As for me, in my school FUTO, we are yet to get an official memo from the management regarding this but then we are still observing the ASUU warning strike as all activities has being kept on hold.
