OP says "imagine a world without islam". I say "imagine a world without religion". Even if islam disappears overnite, christians of different doctrines will still attack themselves (it happened before). Its all about intolerance on the part of humans. Yes...Christianity appears docile today but they have their own violent past no different from what islamic extremists do today. I'd say islam is christianity's younger cousin and still growing up hence the temper tantrums.
