Hannania: 1. Yes. The main advantage of indicating the application of your spouse is to give you guys an extra point (in case either of you happens to use the point system).
2. No. The block account is legally bound to one person. So each of you must submit two different proofs of funds. Either SL/BA or a part-time contract with €1091 net(After tax)
3. You can use one sponsorship letter if the sponsor is eligible to cater for two. Some people can sponsor up to 3 persons at a time. Just make sure the sponsorship letter is marked "Nachgewiesen" on the back. Meaning the creditworthiness has been proven. Else, total rejection. You won't even pass for Preliminary review.
4. You can upload it during preliminary review, or take it with you on the interview date.

Hannania: You only start paying when you get to Germany. All you need right now is the contract Thanks for your assistance you have rendered so far here; we do appreciate alot. pls i have few Questions: 1. Someone going with his spouse, both need to apply differently right, even though they both specify that they would be going with a partner? 2. can both of them use the same Block Account; maybe the double of the required 13k euros? 3. Can they use a block account of 13k euros and also a sponsorship letter from someone in Germany? 4. When does the health insurance comes in and pls the link to a health insurance that can be used. Thanks for your response |

c00la: The "Hurdles" post I promised.
Easy Stuff: Forms to be filled. National visa application form; 2 identical photographs, Passport or other travel document, valid for more than three months after the expected date of return. Valid travel insurance, ; Request for consultation of the Portuguese criminal record Enrolment in the IEFP Authentication of Documents at Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Medium Hurdles: Takes 1-3 days and to be done once you have a date you want to submit to the Embassy. Criminal record certificate (+ Authentication at Ministry of Foreign Affairs ) Air ticket reservation; Bank Statement Proof of the availability of financial resources in the amount of at least three times the value of the guaranteed minimum monthly remuneration. (2280 euros or equivalent/ in a Bank Statement)
Tough Hurdle: Proof of Accommodation.
The Embassy may or may not accept AirBnB reservation. If they do, that will be great. It becomes a medium hurdle. You pay for a reservation 60 + 15 days after your submission date and submit the booking.
If the Embassy refuses AirBnB, you may have to 1) Find an accommodation 2) Pay for 3 to 6 months rent 3) AND the transaction must be registered with the Finance Department in Portugal 4) The rent contract must have your name(s) on it. 5) Submit the rent contract with your accommodation
Single guys can get a T0 or Studio apartment but we family guys have to get a T1 or T2. House rent in Lisboa are through the roof: getting anything for 800 to 1,000 euros per month is hard. But there are other areas below the Targus river that are cheaper.
To solve this hurdle, I may have no option but to find and pay a Consultant in Portugal. That is another added cost. They will have to get the house and represent me in dealing with the landlord. Then send the house contract. Until I have a house contract in hand, I can’t submit any application at the Embassy.
(I am not even sure if I will need a NIF or Portuguese Bank account in order to get the Rent contract done.)
Some Consulates (in Brazil) accepted AirBnB for 15 days last year. Some don’t.
All the above is from my research. Even if the Embassy accepts AirBnB, I will still save money by renting for 3-6 months because the prices on AirBnB are high in my opinion. Also, I am there to get a job, not to start another round of house hunting after my AirBnB 15 days expires!
Most of my information comes from the weekly Youtube show/discussion/webinar by Expats Portugal. Search for “Migration Tuesday”. It’s done on Tuesday night and I watch on later in the week.
I may be wrong in some of my conclusions, so take all the above with a pinch of salt. what if the person applying for the job seeker is having a friend over there and wants to use his address for the resident stuff; will it be accepted? |

Mosimileoluwa12: If you don't intend on changing career path, a masters degree in your current career path is best for you. You've been working for a few years as you've said. Look for graduate degrees in your current career pathway.
I don't know if Industrial Automation and Robotics interests you but that's a very good career path for an Electrical guy. Jobs won't be a problem when you graduate. Thanks alot for the response This isn't a bad course at all Do you have ideas of the schools that offers it and the tuition fee range?? |

mekanta7: Move to Mauritius and explore the Island, I see no reason why the Island shouldn't favor you bro. You will get a part time work while studying, then you will also get a full time work when you're done with your studies. You can easily move to the US or anywhere after your course. Why would some of your friends go back to Nigeria after studying here? They could have easily moved to a better country, I'm still wondering.. If you live in Mauritius for 4years you can apply for their passport which is the strongest in Africa and more valuable than Turkish passport... Choose your path wisely though..
Ishallah... Bro thanks for creating this trend i will really appreciate if you can give me more details on how to go about applying to become a student over there and what courses are under hopitality and schools that offers medical physics or biomedical engineering course infact i will need details on the process of the study and work process thanks alot |
