FamilyWorking Class Parents; Effect On Children. by ojeota(op): 9:55am On May 20, 2015
Parenting requires lots of responsibilities. Over the years, there have being tremendous change in the style of parenting. Parents neglecting their children in name of making money sand providing life basic necessity. In the long run, has lead to children being raised in the hands of nannies. The long term effect of this situation is, children growing up to become armed robbers, kidnappers etc.

The economy of the country have driven both parents, to go out, to look for ends meet, because only one parent can no longer provide for the family especially in the middle class and lower class family. Sometimes, both parents income are not even enough to sustain the family. This has pushed both parents to work, in order to meet up with the responsibilities of the family. In the process, has lead the children to cater for themselves or left in the hands of nannies.

Working class parents do not realize the consequence of their action until it’s late.
1) They miss out in the growing up of their children.
2) Total/partial disconnection between parents and children. Since children don’t see their parents quite often, they turn to their peers for advice, which to some extend can be dangerous.
3) This can also lead to inabilities to perform well academically at school.

Parents should create time, even if it is 20mins a day, to communicate with their children. Ask them questions, also create room for them to also ask you question about what is bothering their minds. Ask them what transpired in school and how they are coping in school. Know their friends. Invite their friends over to the house. Don’t be a boss to your children. Introduce them to other activities outside school like; sports, singing, drama, cooking etc. This will help in building their personal development skills. Also regulate how much time they spend in watching TV and go on social media.

Parents have a huge impact in the lives of their children. One thing we should note is that, we all have different roles (mother, father, friend, worker etc) we play in our individual lives. We should make out time to create a balance to ensure that no one suffers. Before taking any decision, you should consider first how it is going to affect your children.

Now that you are already serving, go for job interviews relating to the course you studied. As you are doing that try to lay your hands on books that will sharpen your writing skills. Write anything even if it doesn't make sense. You can post it on nairaland, for people to help you review it. With time you will keep improving.
For being shy and introverted try to do the opposite of what you use to do when you are shy. Each time you are feeling shy, listen to yourself, because your body is telling you that something is wrong. Do the opposite of what you use to do. As you do that continously , your brain will replace those feelings with new ones.
Good luck

CultureRe: My Favorite Urhobo Proverbs! by ojeota(f): 6:40pm On May 04, 2015
Sanchez01:
I beg to disagree. I think it all comes down to parenting. I could remember mom would tell us folk tales strictly in Urhobo way back... In Lagos ooo. It is challenging and interesting at the same time. She would ask us to suggest morals learnt ONLY in Urhobo language and we (my baby sis and I) would babble, mix up the words with some English words, add Yoruba and back to the mother tongue. At the long run, I acquired and perfected the thing, even better than most grown Urhobo people.
Today, I move freely, interact with Urhobo folks when the need arises and most people find it hard to believe I've never travelled there before. My problem, however, is the pidgin accent. I don't have it at all and I admire people who eat it like rice.
Urhobo language is actually a beauty!
There is nothing to admire in the pidgin accent. Pidgin English is one of the reason the urhobo language is dying today. So just stick to the Urhobo and English language.

FamilyRe: . by ojeota(f): 1:15pm On May 02, 2015
Op the problem is not your teeth. Even after whitening your teeth, you will still have insecurity issues. The problem is how you view yourself. Maybe you feel that you are not good enough and you allow that to over power you, that is the reason why you can not make eye contact while talking to your brother, boss and colleagues. As someone above has said, try to put your self in awkward situation. With time you will overcome it. It a continuous process. Least I forget, pray to God to help you.

Are you are middle child?

PoliticsRe: Adamawa Governor, Ngilari, Buys Two Lexus Suvs For N180million by ojeota(f): 9:18pm On Apr 30, 2015
Pk001:
You are very right. Some people are just Naive. Do they know the cost of a bullet proof SUV?

Let them just tell us the worth of Fashola and Ameachi's SUVs. I can bet they are far more than 100 million Naira each.

I know some people will start saying that the cost of bullet proof SUV is less than 50 million Naira, forgetting the model and make of the car.

And for those saying that he doesn't need such cars, they have forgotten the assassination attempt made on the governor, killing his personal aides and members of his family.

The car might look expensive, but from the knowledge I got when I jokingly priced a fairly used bullet proof BMW X5 from a car dealer in Abuja. The response I got shows me that buying a new for bullet proof SUV for 90 million is fair and in some cases very cheap.

Let the Governor be abeg. May 29th isn't far. If the next governor likes let him be using open roof convertible car or power bike as his official vehicle in other to save cost, na him sabi. We will only be praying for him to see another May 29th after 4 years in one piece.
Black man mentality.
