I was considering a victron quattro 48/5000 but I can seem to find any incountry and the price is too high?

Which is the next best thing after Victron to use with lithium batteries? Next best thing.

Growatt is very good, if you can get Deye that is much better as well.

I have used both JBD and JK BMS - JBD BMS were originally targeted at medical devices so quite rugged build quality and plenty fail safe features built in.

If you want a pro product with plenty flexibility, ability to talk to inverters via RS485, up to 2A active balancing then choose the JK BMS - if you have multiple BMSs in your battery bank the JK also switches between BMSs far better and smoother than JBD.

I say the JK BMS is a pro product because it does not forgive wiring mistakes and also needs a special procedure to wake up the BMS - once you can handle these two aspects you are set to go forever.

Seplos too is a good BMS with active balancer and comms but very failure prone in real life use (we are told there is a bad batch with defective parts released into the market)

I would rank the Dalys and ANTs of this world behind all these BMSs above - typically these cost more and are more quirky but I have yet to see any reason to choose them over a JK or JBD BMS for example.

I have attached screenshots from my JK BMS (current favorite) and JBD BMS respectively - as you can see they each achieve good results and keep your pack happy - the JK is the better value product of the two in my opinion.

I give the higher balance current to jk, but once cell is initially balanced everything should stay put subsequently. ANT BMS has been a good companion from my end

Good day to all the bosses in the house. I really want to appreciate the selfless contributions on this page thus far. I've gotten to a point where I need to delve into DIY solar power generation. Please I'd like to be guided with what my 700k budget can get for me for starters...I intend to go into solar fully but I want to start with this budget. Like for starters I'd be needing it to power 2 ceiling fans, charging of phones, a decoder, charging of a laptop. TVs and others can come in in subsequent upgrades.

Get a 3kva hybrid inverter 24 or 48v - 200k (can be neatly used ones)
4 X 250w panels - 200k
Lifepo4 battery 50ah 48v or 100ah 24v - 300k

You still need another 50 to 100k for connection accessories

As part of my system upgrade, I decided to use my Ipowerplus 5kva Inverter as a second charge controller and terminated the new array of 2kw to it. I would never have done this before now but I had to keep things within budget. The axpert MKS series of inverter which the Ipowerplus, Gennex and likes are based on has a known bug MPPT Bug which causes the inverter to switch to float early under certain conditions. The bug pretty much makes them completely unreliable and not fit for purpose because it has the potential to damage your batteries leaving it under charge.

In my research I noticed that the community around the axpert series released a custom firmware which fixes this bug and add more functionality to the inverter. One of the functionality is add is to make it more compatible with Lithium battteries. I flashed my inverter to these firmware and the result has been amazing. Yeah that old bug has been a pain, wonder why this has not been fixed with company firmware till date. When I used the MPP GK series I had this issue, unfortunately only the MK series (low VOC) had the custom firmware. My work around then was to use the SOC figures from my BMV to automatically control when the inverter should switch to float. It worked pretty well
