They (north) have stuck around this long for one thing only, oil money.
With GEJ that money supply has been cut. Come 2015 nah Igbo woman go be president (Ngozi) that time dem go shave their beer-beer.
Politics / Re: Arewa Republic Or Fodio Islamic Republic? Emirs Argued by OK2NV: 2:00pm On Feb 04, 2012
What some people failed to recollect is the fact that the north first hoisted a flag for seccession before the British told them it will be utter folly to leave Nigeria now that they just discovered oil.  You see, back then oil was controlled more by the multi-nationals. It took one man, the late Qaddafi, to nationalize oil resource and other countries followed suit. You see, the British thot they could do business easier with a northern led Nigeria than an oxford educated, flamboyant and African Nationalist in the person of Ojukwu. The problem we face today and like almost every other part of the world where conflict exist can be traced to the British.
The British prevented Hitler from deporting the Jews to madagascar. The British knew about Aushwitz. The British prevented the creation of the state of Isreal and hurridly granted independence to Palestine. The British have occupied Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq. The British are the problem. If the German Reich had won the war, our world would have been different and maybe for the better.
Politics / Re: Sanusi Lamido Should Be Charged For Murder; Femi Fani Kayode by OK2NV: 1:43pm On Feb 04, 2012
I don't like the two characters involved. Sanusi is actually a dormant Islamic Fanatic waiting to explode but on the other hand Fanny Kayode could win an award in any mental asylum for best ward painter.

@OP: without that oil money, you would have been in some thick sweaty jungle expecting cocoa trees and complaining about how lopsided the trade is to the benefit of western  chocolate manufactures.
Don't bite or take for granted the hand that feeds you.

Politics / Re: So Where's The Nationwide Anger Over The Chevron Explosion And Oil Spill? by OK2NV: 12:56pm On Feb 04, 2012
PROUD-IGBO:

How come there's no nationwide groundswell of support and protests over the on-going Chevron gas explosion ? Or have i missed it undecided?

During the protests on fuel subsidy removal, there was palpable anger and outright hostility towards the federal gov't and the person of the President, but the same people that made the loudest noise over 'subsidy removal' now seem to have gone quiet over this gas explosion and the recent oil spill in the Niger Delta. Once again, the people on whos land and waters the oil is being exploited have been abandoned by Nigerians (including the Gov't) that have got and continue to get so much wealth at their expense.

This situation can be likened to a group of individuals that expect (as a matter of right) a poor guy to use his money, go out and buy ingredients for a delicious meal of jollof rice, come back to his own kitchen, cook the meal, lay his own table, and then this group just waltz in like they own the place, sit themselves down to a hearty meal, chop belle-full, and then b/4 leaving on a full stomach they each take a mighty crap (of the toilet blocking kind) on his kitchen floor for good measure, then -with a silly grin on their greedy faces- leave the poor sod to clean up their mess, wash the dishes, and deal with the stink shocked .

Pathetic!!!
becos, nigerians are more concerned about their personal selfish desires and daily consumptions. they dont care about the niger-delta. just the oil. if a boko haram supporter promises dem tomorrow free oil and money they will vote for him. even here on NL DURING THE HEIGHT OF THE SO-CALLED OCCUPPY NIGERIA , SOME EDIOTS WERE STATING THEIR REGRET FOR NOT VOTING BUHARI.
Politics / Re: Stop Boko Haram Or Watch Al- Mustapha Dead by OK2NV: 12:23pm On Feb 04, 2012
Murder cases everywhere in the world take long time to prosecute, and convict. Nigeria, with the many problems plaguing our Judiciary and society at large, is no exception. Stop putting your morphed view of tribalism and ethnicity as a interpretation of political doings.
The man is guilty as proven and must be made to face the law.
The court sentence eminated from a Lagos State higher circuit court, so how is this a FG or GEJ problem.

Romance / Re: My Best Friend's Fiancee - The Girl In The Red Dress! By Lola.luv by OK2NV: 11:51am On Feb 04, 2012
lola.luv:

As I push open the door, I am assailed by an acrid smell. The hair on my arms rise, as I spy her on the bed. Ify. I don't need someone to tell me she's dead. She is lying motionless, with her arms neatly arranged at her side. She was wearing a white jean short, and a red camisole, under which her chest looks disturbing still. I tiptoe over to her and glance at her face.Whereas, she'd been chocolatey white, now she looked deathly pale and her lips were blue-black. Her eyes were half open and her brown pupils are no where in sight.

I race to my room to pick my phone and call Williams. Then it occurs to me, how would I explain being in Williams' room at that ungodly hour of the night? How would I explain my innocence, if it was known that I'd been in the same room with a dead girl?
I dropped my phone in panic. All thoughts of touching her had long flown my mind. My only bet is to stay in my room and pretend to sleep and leave Williams to find her when he is back from the hospital.

Even though, questions were going to be asked, it was far better than calling Williams!

Politics / Arewa (acf) Defends Boko Haraam Call For Southern/xtian Exodus From North by OK2NV: 6:45am On Feb 02, 2012
The Apex Northern group , AREWA, rose from a recent meeting to defend the declaration by Boko Haraam for people of southern origin and christians residing in the north to leave the north as being in response to an earlier demand made by a Niger-Delta Militant group.

", against the backdrop of claims in Kaduna yesterday by the Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, that the ultimatum by the Boko Haram Islamic sect on southerners living in the North to quit was in reaction to an earlier order by South-South militants on Northerners to quit their area. ACF said that the South-South militants were the first to ask northerners living in their area to leave, adding that this was what made the Boko Haram to issue the same ultimatum on Christians and other southerners to leave the North"

The rebellion in Libya started in Benghazi. Benghazi contributed, in terms of GDP, the highest number of Jihadist in Iraq during the 2nd Gulf War. Benghazi is the Kano of Libya.
The NTC, will turn out like the Mujaheddins of Afghanistan during the Soviet Invasion. Actively supported with training, logistics and Intel by Washington to oust the Soviets. The same Mujaheddins later morphed to become Alqueda.
The NTC will impose sharia law. The NTC will promote conflicts in the Sahel-Sudan region and will later actively carry out terrorist plots in europe.
Politics / Re: My Prophecy 2011 : Sectional Rebellion Army from The Nigeria Army by OK2NV: 12:04am On Feb 02, 2012
Unfortunately, OP  may be right.
I don't see this country ever returning back to how we knew it. There is change in the air, how we do manage this 'change' that is sweeping our land will determine how our collective and individual futures will turn out.
When I say collective I don't necessarily mean tribal affiliations but a more holistic view of ourselves as a nation. At the end of the day, all tribal sentiments will fade either with the wake of true dialogue as enshrined in true democracies. On the other hand,  in a doomsday , apocalyptic scenario, all man will have to stand for himself.

I left my account open to my ex and she did the same as well. But one nite, after sending her a message on facebook, i found out i made a critical grammatical error that would have been misunderstood by her or anyone. I logged into her mail account for the first time, deleted the facebook notification notice and then proceeded to delete the main facebook message. By the time i logged on her facebook messages, I found out she had been chatting with some guys for at least 6mths. The messages were romantic. I checked her yahoo mail again and found out the same guy had been chatting her up. I even checked her bank mails and found the same guy had been sending her money. I felt sick. The next day I was schelduled to get medical checkup and asked the nurse if she could run a HIV test.

According to the link it stated in the first statement that: His arrest may not be unconnected with the alleged sponsorship of Boko Haram during his tenure as the Kano State Governor.

Shekaru, I know for sure is a fundamentalist. He executed a popular christian evangelist back in the 80's during the maittasine riots when he (shekaru was a student union leader at the university. FACT!

Politics / Re: Mujahid Dokubo Asari; Al Mustapha Must Not Die. by OK2NV: 4:08pm On Jan 31, 2012
How does all of this even concern Goodluck? Was Goodluck involved in Al-Mustapha's arraignment, prosecution, conviction and sentencing?
The Jurisdiction of the court was and still is a Lagos High Court, with presding Lagos State appointed Judges. The only area that the Federal Government has anything at all to do with this case is the prison to which Al-Mustapha has been remanded and where his eventual and well deserved sentence will be carried out.
One of the major problems plaguing this country is the irrelevant and out of scope debates that are encouraged and continued to the detriment of any meaningful progress.
Asari is a most confused person. A muslim Terrorist in the cloak of a Niger-Delta Militancy. I know for a fact that he changed to his current religion to get tacit support from a particular middle-east Nation. He gives off an impression as a tranverstile monk.
Politics / Re: Mujahid Dokubo Asari; Al Mustapha Must Not Die. by OK2NV: 4:00pm On Jan 31, 2012
As long as you got an ACN governor ruling Lagos state, Tinubu will play politics with Al-Mustapha's neck. You all must be aware that only a serving governor as contained in the constitution can sign into effect a death verdict.
