STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE

FAIRNESS, EQUITY, RESPECT FOR RIGHTS OF OTHERS FUNDAMENTAL TO PEACE & SECURITY, SAYS OSINBAJO

*Receives CAN award of excellence at body’s 45th anniversary, describes body as a force for peace, unity & social justice

* CAN honors Imam Abubakar Abdullahi from Barkin Ladi, Plateau State

*VP urges leaders to be relentless advocates of freedom of worship, justice & the rule of law

In pursuit of a more united and peaceful society, Christian groups and leaders of faith in Nigeria must preach fairness and equity at all times and be relentless advocates of freedom of worship, justice & the rule of law, according to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN.

Prof. Osinbajo who was honoured with the Christian Association of Nigeria's Award of Excellence at a Dinner and Awards night organized to mark the 45th anniversary of the association Saturday evening in Abuja, also delivered President Muhammadu Buhari and the Federal Government’s felicitations to the foremost Christian body on the milestone.

Also in his remarks after receiving the award alongside other honourees, the VP noted that “fairness, equity and respect for the rights of others are fundamental to peace, and security” hence Christian leaders at all levels must strive to promote those virtues despite the challenges.

His words: “we must continue to let the important truth be known that Christ did not come to establish a religion, nor to condemn men but to show all men that his own righteousness not our righteousness or performance is the qualification for eternal life.

“That the gospel commands consideration for the views of others treating them as we would wish to be treated, non-violent communication, that our words must be words of grace seasoned with salt.

“We must as an organisation and as individuals remain constant and relentless advocates of freedom of worship, respect for human rights, fairness, justice and the rule of law.”

Commending the works of current and past leadership of CAN in promoting religious tolerance, Prof. Osinbajo said “CAN has not only been continually faithful to its founding vision, it has become a veritable force for peace, unity and social justice.”

According to him, “pursuant to the gospel, CAN has consistently spoken up on behalf of the “least of these” in our society.

“Importantly, the current and past leadership of CAN have acted in full realization and recognition of their roles as pivotal stakeholders alongside the Government, the private sector in nation building.

“We are proud of the role of moral compass of society and interlocutor for peace among the different faiths that CAN has played and continues to play in our nation.”

Continuing, the VP noted that “we are also proud of the enormous work that the current executive of CAN ably led by His Eminence Rev Supo Ayokunle has done.

“I am aware of your collaboration with the leadership of the Islamic and other faiths, to reconcile where there are conflicts, to pacify where there has been offence, and to upbraid and reprimand where there have been misdeeds. Well done and congratulations.”

Speaking on dousing religious and ethnic tensions in the society, the VP said “as we have seen in the past few years not just in Nigeria but all over the world, there is a growing religious and ethnic chauvinism.

“An almost intemperate, vehement and often violent dismissal of the views of people of other persuasions without adequate consideration. At the same time there is the rise of identity and cultural politics. Brethren, the answer to hate, intolerance and conflict is the gospel of Jesus Christ.”

On the call by CAN for the renovation of the National Christian Centre, Prof. Osinbajo gave a short presentation on renovation plan work for the Centre, assuring that Christian groups and individuals would be mobilized to resource and complete the project.

Responding on himself and behalf of other award recipients, Prof. Osinbajo said “I accept the award with great humility, being mindful that we are not necessarily the most deserving of Christians to be given any recognition. But that because of the special grace of God by which we have been chosen to serve in the high capacities that we serve, we are in the advantageous position that our contributions will be more easily noticed.”

The VP dedicated the award to “the many who daily, in different locations: distant and near, propagate this message of the love and reconciliation of the gospel of Jesus Christ in sometimes difficult even life-threatening situations. And to the many who have suffered deprivation, and the families of those who have lost their lives by reason of their belief.”

Presenting the Award of Excellence to the VP, CAN President, Rev Supo Ayokunle, said the honour was in recognition of Prof. Osinbajo’s outstanding performance in public service over the past years both at state and national levels.

He said: “this Award of Excellence is conferred on you today in recognition of your invaluable contributions as an ideal Christian in the Nigerian political space and governance.”

Other award recipients include former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo; former Imo State Governor, Sen. Rochas Okorocha; former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara; several State governors; faith leaders including past Presidents and General Secretary of CAN.

The Imam that saved the lives of over 200 Christians in Barkin Ladi, Plateau State, Abubakar Abdullahi also received a special CAN recognition. It would be recalled that the VP had received the Imam in the Presidential Villa *in May 2019* and praised him severally in public for his acts of courage, sacrifice and tolerance when he stuck out his neck to protect Christians who were being pursued to be attacked during a conflict situation on *June 23, 2018.*

Earlier on Saturday morning, the Vice President participated virtually in the 6th edition finals of the SimmonsCooper Advocacy Development (SCAD) Programme organized by SimmonsCooper Partners (SCP).

Speaking briefly during the event which was held live in Lagos, the VP congratulated the finalists of the SCAD competition as being among one of the best in Nigeria and anywhere in the world.

“Knowledge is so critical, and today, it is almost as if a completely new vista of knowledge has been opened, especially with technology and all of its various implications,” he said.

The event was attended by members of the Nigerian Bar Association, students of law and other disciplines from Nigerian universities, members of the Nigerian business community, among others.

PoliticsNigeria: We Need To Overcome Barriers To Knowledge Economy - Osinbajo by okefranci(op): 12:00pm On Sep 25, 2021
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says barriers to knowledge economy have to be surmounted in order to cushion the impact of disruptive technology on key sectors.

Osinbajo was the Special Guest of Honour at a two-day Kaduna State Investment Summit (KADINVEST) 6.0 on Thursday in Kaduna.

The theme of the Summit is, "Towards a Sustainable Knowledge Based Economy."

The vice president said that Nigeria was very far from taking full advantage of its young talented people.

"The main problem is how to surmount the barriers to the knowledge economy; how do we surmount those barriers to the knowledge economy?
"'The World Bank describes those barriers as the four pillars of the Knowledge economy:

"The first is institutional structures that provide incentives for entrepreneurship and the use of knowledge.

"The second is availability of skilled labor and a good education system

"The third is access to information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure.

"The fourth is vibrant innovation landscape that includes academia, the private sector, and civil society."

According to him, the knowledge economy, as the name implies, is entirely dependent on intellectual capital, a work force and talent pool that is educated, dynamic and adaptable.

He said it required a sound, relevant, practical, problem solving education.
So, Science, Technology, Engineering and Math or STEM education as it is called, is crucial.

"The curriculum being developed by the Federal Ministry of education adds Arts to the combination of subjects; so our own acronym is STEAM because we have added Arts to it.

"The task here is major-developing an education system that would provide resource and support the knowledge economy- from teacher training to acquiring technology and other equipment."

Osinbajo said that an effective planning was needed in order to create adequate resource capacity and capability

He said factors to be considered included what it would take to train and equip enough engineers, technologists, scientists, doctors and other products of STEM curricula to drive a Knowledge Based Economy.

"Thankfully we are not alone in this, as there are global shortages everywhere of technological talent.
scientist/researches per 1000 employees and spend 1 to 3 per cent of GDP on Research and Development.

"Where do we stand on that scale? How do we accelerate our progress?

He said that with global gaps in talent, well planned training programme could even see Nigeria become a hub for critical technical talent.

This was proven with the success of Andela, a Nigerian company, developing and placing Software Engineering talent.

He said it could be replicated across a broader range of STEM disciplines.

"So, it is possible with companies like Andela; that is already doing so much work developing soft engineers, programmers and all manner of other talents; it is possible to do more and increase the numbers.

"Some ideas that can be explored include support for on-the job and tailored training to accelerate talent development and augment conventional schooling.

"For example, I understand Blue Camel has a Solar Installation training facility on its industrial campus where it trains hundreds of students a year.

"Also, the curricula in trainings could have a standard knowledge set that must be learnt prior to specialisation."

Osinbajo said that the standard principles should support mobility of talent across jobs to adapt to changes in a Knowledge-Based economy.

He said that the Kashim Ibrahim Fellowship promoted by the state government was capable of creating a critical mass of talented people.

"I think The Kashim Ibrahim Fellowship, which the Kaduna State government initiated a few years ago, which exposes Fellows to thought leaders and experts.
And to practical experience through rotational job programs and community service is also an example of the type of initiatives needed to create a high caliber talent pool for the Knowledge Based Future," he said.

Gov. Nasir el-Rufai, who presented an overview of KADINVEST 1.0 to 5.0 and unveiled KADINVEST 6.0, thanked the vice president for gracing the event.

He said that KADINVEST, which was started in 2016 less than a year after he took office, was in realisation of partnering with the private sector in creating jobs and growing the state.

Osinbajo, afterwards inspected the Galaxy Mall, Kaduna, and proceeded to inaugurate the Kasuwan Magani market and 100 kilowatt Solar PV Mini-Grid, at Kajuru.

Osinbajo said that the Galaxy Mall and the Kasuwan Magani market were both products of the focus of the Kaduna State Government in enabling commerce and improving the economic prospects of its citizens.

There appears to be a paradigm shift in the media narrative, and those who we thought had the lead may indeed be struggling to play catch-up. There seems to be a perceptibly dominant mood of national consensus for Osinbajo 2023 presidency as all fingers steadily point to his direction whenever 2023 presidential debate pops up either on TV screens, in the pages of the national dailies or during Nigerians general day-to-day political discussions._

_They remain staunch, unperturbed and indefatigable in flying the Osinbajo's card despite several denials of declaring any presidential ambition. And with 2023 already in sight, Osinbajo's loyalists believe delay could be dangerous and have kick-started his presidential campaign without waiting for his official declaration._

_The Nassarawa State governor, Abdullahi Sule, wasted no time in professing his love for the sprightly 64 -year-old man, joining other leagues of notable Nigerians who have over time publicly expressed their preference for Osinbajo's leadership magnetism, thereby giving a nod for his 2023 candidacy. He even went further by saying the ruling APC would support Osinbajo if he decides to contest calling Osinbajo a "sellable product._

_Sule's courage and boldness as the first Northern governor to publicly push for Osinbajo candidacy ahead of the 2023 elections is remarkable. And if the ruling APC is truly serious about retaining power in 2023 and beyond, it is safe to start looking in the direction of Osinbajo as he remains the most sellable product in the party's ranks, admittedly._

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has advised the states’ chief law officers to leverage their network and individual positions to effect the desired changes in the justice sector.

He gave the advice when six Attorneys-General from the South-West States visited him on Tuesday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
He urged them to ensure that prosecutions move quickly by devoting more time to the need to improve the pace of cases in courts.

The Attorney-Generals had briefed him on the progress of justice reforms in their various States, many of which they said were inspired by the successes recorded during his stint as Lagos State Attorney-General.

Osinbajo, while commending their efforts in a statement issued Wednesday by his spokesman, Laolu Akande, said: “Just looking at the sheer range of the things that have been done, I really must commend you for a very great work.

“I think there’s a need for us (especially at the state level), to ensure that prosecutions move quickly. It’s important we devote some time to how we can improve the pace of cases in our courts.”

The Attorney-Generals, in their separate remarks, praised Osinbajo’s efforts as Lagos State Attorney-General, attributing some of the gains recorded in their States to his innovative ideas.

They were led on the visit by the Ekiti State Attorney-General, Olawale Fapohunda. Others were Lagos State Attorney-General, Moyosore Onigbanjo SAN; Ondo State Attorney-General, Charles Titiloye; Oyo State Attorney-General, Oyelowo Oyewo; Ogun State Attorney-General, Akingbolahan Adeniran; and his Osun State counterpart, Olufemi Akande.

FamilyKnow The Few Importance Of Sex In A Marriage by okefranci(op): 12:38pm On Sep 22, 2021
Dr Francis ( A Naturopathic doctor)

Sex definitely has plenty of physical and psychological benefits to it. However, the answer to how important it is in a marriage is a bit more complicated than that. Frequent sexual activity has perks such as reduced stress, an emotional connection, greater intimacy and lowered divorce rates. There are differences in how men and women view sex
, but it does play a pivotal role in marriage.

1. Sex Fosters Intimacy
This is probably the most obvious reason why married couples need to have more sex. Sex builds intimacy. Sure, you share everything, and there’s a good bond in your relationship, and yet if sex ranks low in how you express your love for each other, something’s not right. Having to live together and the certainty of each other’s presence can cause your chemistry to fizzle out. Although you’re in love, you may have lost the sexual chemistry you had at the beginning, so what you need is a little more sex to bring it back.

2. Sex Bonds Couples Together
The burst of endorphins in the brain after sexual activity is responsible for helping couples bond during sex. It is not only about penetration and finishing, but the playful exploration that comes before it that will give you the most intimate moments with your partner. Both men and women need the passion, romance, and chemistry to show each other that their love is alive and doing well.

3. Sex Builds a Deeper Level of Communication
Sexually satisfied couples will tell you that sex isn’t confined only to the bedroom; the roots of it extend well beyond, into their everyday lives. Communication outside your bedroom is the key – without it, your physical connection in the bed would be weak. Great sex starts in the mind, which includes honest communication with your partner at all times. Building up to it is what makes sex so much more enjoyable, especially for women, it helps them feel a deep connection with their man and truly love the intercourse.

4. Sex Builds Better Self- esteem
Sex is important to feel great about yourself. Nobody enjoys being in a marriage that lacks physical passion. Everybody wants to be desired. Therefore, passionate and invigorating sex is an indicator that your partner is still into you. Being great in bed and having your spouse come back to you wanting more is a great self-esteem booster for both men and women. On the other hand, examining how important sex is in a long term relationship shows that a fizzled out chemistry or being insecure about yourself and performing poorly can eventually drive your partner to look for other means outside the marriage.

5.Sex is a Great Workout
Sex being the vigorous physical activity that it is, helps you burn a lot of calories. A good round of sex is equivalent to some moderate physical activity such as brisk walking of climbing a flight of stairs. You also mobilize muscles during sex, which help you tighten and tone your abdomen, lower back and thighs. On an average, you would end up burning 200 calories in 30 minutes of good sex. Therefore if you’re on a fitness program monitoring all the calories you intake and burn, cutting out a little time on the treadmill and substituting it with sex with your partner has compounded benefits.

6. It’s a Stress-buster
It’s needless to say how amazing it can be to come home after a long day and release all that pent up stress-energy with your partner in bed. Experts say that regular sex helps people respond better to stress due to the release of feel-good endorphins in the body. Not only does it help you relax, but it gives plenty of bonding time with your partner in bed. And then there’s all the good night’s sleep you’ll get after that. Although a good work out is not recommended just before sleep, sex is an exception to it. It is observed that it decreases body temperature and promotes deep sleep.

The housing deficit in the country has always be an issue to everybody expecially the common man and we want experts to develop an appropriate housing scheme model which will significantly transform the housing sector on a large scale .
BusinessOsinbajo Charges Financial Market Experts To join & Tackle Nig Housing Problem by okefranci(op): 12:16pm On Sep 22, 2021
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has charged the nation’s financial market experts to collaborate with government with a view to tackling Nigeria’s housing problem.
He has therefore tasked the experts to develop an appropriate housing scheme model which will significantly transform the housing sector on a large scale and close the housing deficit in the country.

Osinbajo made this call Monday at the State House, Abuja, when he played host to a delegation from the Financial Market Dealers Quotation (FMDQ) which is Africa’s first vertically integrated financial market infrastructure (FMI) group, strategically positioned to provide registration, listing, and quotation services, and is owned by the Central Bank and commercial banks in Nigeria, led by its CEO, Mr Bola Onadele.
Economic experts had put the housing deficit in Nigeria between 18-22 million housing units, while the ratio of mortgage finance to GDP in the country is only 0.5%, 31% in South Africa, and 2% in Ghana and Botswana.

Speaking after listening to a presentation by the FMDQ delegation, Osinbajo said “I like the point you made about the National Housing Blueprint. I very strongly believe that if we are able to unlock the conundrum in the sector, we can get things working.”

According to him, “in our ESP, we have something on social housing but one of the critical issues there is how to market these houses, how we are able to provide the finance so that people can afford to buy them. These are houses that are in the order of about N2 million or N2.5 million.

“But there are still constraints on account of the fact that we just do not have anything like a feasible housing finance model, I think it is time for us to do so. It just looks like it has always escaped our capacity to find a real solution to the problem.”
On the possibility of having a model that will work, Osinbajo noted that “everyone recognizes that we are in very challenging times. But I agree with you that the sheer range and vastness of our potentials make it seem almost intuitive that we are bound to succeed.

“I have no doubt in my mind whatsoever, that given the right mix of policy initiatives, we can get these things done. And your characterization of what needs to be done like attracting capital and sustaining it is so important because ultimately, capital will go where it is best treated.
And if we are able to attract it (because we have the market, we have everything going for us), even in the worst of times, despite the situation, you find that there is still a great deal of interest.”

Earlier in his remarks, Mr Bola Onadele said the visit was to inform the Vice President about the transformation taking place in the FMDQ and the need for government support in growing the financial market for the benefit of Nigerians and the economy
While applauding the efforts of the Buhari administration in creating the environment for the transformation to occur, Mr Onadele identified areas of interest for investment in the market to include housing finance and mobilizing capital for projects in the transportation sector, among others.

Financial Market Dealers Quotation (FMDQ) is Africa’s first vertically integrated financial market infrastructure (FMI) group, strategically positioned to provide registration, listing, and quotation services, and is owned by the Central Bank and commercial banks in Nigeria
Also on Monday, at another meeting with stakeholders in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry under the auspices of Independent Petroleum Producers Group (IPPG), the group commended the Vice President’s peace efforts in the Niger Delta in 2016 that ensured peace and security of investments in the region at a time when the nation suffered a recession.

Chairman of IPPG, Mr Abdulrazak Isa declared that Osinbajo have been a great supporter of the association saying “your unprecedented intervention helped in resolving the security situation that we faced in the Niger Delta region. Since that time, we have not recorded one incident of attack on our facilities.”
While soliciting the support of the Federal Government in securing investments in the sector, Mr Isa disclosed that the crisis resolution model deployed by the VP in 2016 will be replicated by IPPG to address emerging security threats on oil and gas facilities in the southeast.

Also speaking, the immediate past president of the group, Mr Ademola Adeyemi-Bero added that since the intervention of the VP when he visited oil-producing communities in the eight states of Delta, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Edo, Bayelsa, Imo, Abia and Ondo, “we have not had one shutdown of our facilities.”
Responding, the Vice President assured the group of the Buhari administration’s commitment to the security of lives and property, noting that government is open to suggestions that would lead to permanent resolution of the crisis.

Osinbajo also called for collaboration between the Federal Government and other stakeholders in the oil and gas sector in advocating for a just energy transition regarding the global net-zero emission target in 2050.

Nassarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has tipped the Nigeria’s Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for the President in 2023 elections.

The state governor spoke glowingly of the Vice President’s qualities and personality, expressing his admiration for the 64-year-old former Attorney General of Lagos State.

Speaking on Channels TV, Politics Today, on Monday night during a live programme, the governor said Prof Osinbajo is a loyal Vice President and he’s more than qualified to be Nigeria’s president if he decides to contest.

He said, “Professor Osinbajo is a loyal Vice President. He is man of God. He is a gentle man. He is a professional lawyer. He is a party man and he is more than qualified actually to be the president of this country, there is no doubt about it.

“Osinbajo is a man that I respect. The man has not started selling himself yet. One thing I like about the Vice President is his patience. Each time we are having NEC meetings, he will hear all kinds of argument and the man will be patient enough to control the meetings and he is able to gather and get people’s support. If I sit with you I can keep talking the good things about Osinbajo.”
Reacting to those groups already mobilizing for supports for Osinbajo candidacy, the Governor said: “The man is already selling himself because of who he is.

“He is doing the right thing by waiting, making proper consultations with the right people who should say yes, I agree, you should do that. He is not running earlier than himself.”
