N-POWER BEGINS PAYMENT OF 2017 BENEFICIARIES ACROSS NIGERIA The Federal Government Youth Empowerment Platform and Social Investment Programme, N-POWER, has commenced the payment of the 2017 volunteers across the country. The N-power Facebook Page captures this about 10hrs ago thus: “The first batch of 100,000 2017 beneficiaries who were processed for payments should have received their stipends now. Please comment below this post.” To underline the happiness of the beneficiaries, one Jude Ikechukwu Okwor expressed his happiness in these words: “I was paid #30,000 yesterday night by npower. I got the alert around 10pm from access bank. I thank Npower team though they would have paid us for two months. Npower plateau state.” Before now, the administrators of the federal government social intervention scheme, N-Power, had apologized to 2017 beneficiaries of the scheme for the delay in payment of their allowances but this morning, have asked the beneficiaries to smile to their places of primary assignment. www.unnobzava.com |

The University of Nigeria, UNN has had towering achievements so much that many people expect nothing from her apart from excellence in every sphere. However, so many first time visitors have revealed their frustration over what they saw in the main campus of the university. Let’s look at the TOP DISAPPOINTMENTS VISITORS ARE FACED WITH IN UNN: 1: SHABBY NATURE OF HER FIRST GATE AND SECOND GATE ENTRANCE: Every University in the world makes aesthetics its first port of call as far as their main entrance is concerned. But it’s somewhat disappointing that this is not the case for UNN. Making entrance into the University through the first gate, one is faced with a shabby tower, almost overtaken by ageing rust causing a sour sight on the boldly inscribed University of Nigeria. As one approaches further towards the gate, the security cave under this tower gives the entrance a crabbier outlook. The second entrance which is opposite JIVES is popularly regarded as the Second Gate. Probably because this is not the official entrance of UNN, this place, starting from the Newspaper stand, the Okada stand, through the security checkpoint is in a deplorable state. With untarred road circling this entrance, cars are most times forced to scramble for the less pot-holed areas of this entrance. 2: POOR COVERAGE OF THE UNIVERSITY ROUTES BY SHUTTLE/CAB: As directed by the school administration, there are some strategic routes UNN shuttles are not to cover. For instance, if one is on a visit to places like the PG school, GS building, Department of Economics, Faculty of Arts from the First gate, one will either be dropped at the Christ church bus stop or Library bus stop. This forces people to trek almost a mile or more to get to their destination. So many people, especially the elderly with ageing legs are disappointed with this arrangement. 3: POOR WASTE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM: I think this should be ranked number one on this list. A yard or two into the school through the second gate axis of UNN, you are greeted with a respiratory damaging stench coming off the mountainous heap of debris at Kwameh Nkrumah hostel. Mixed with this stench is the one coming from the soakaway pit of Odili hall flanking the road by the left. In fact, a first-time visit to the male undergraduate hostels will leave one struggling for untainted air. The number of weeks, it takes for the waste disposal workers to clean up this debris is really uncalled for. The most annoying part of this is the debris that now disturbs the relaxation of postgraduate students in their quadrangle (love garden). Gone are the days when postgraduate students relaxed in the quadrangle in their numbers without flies threatening them with their incessant buzz. 4: POOR STRUCTURE: Good infrastructure is one of the hallmarks of every university. This is because good infrastructure contributes a lot to the academic success of students. However, the all purportedly glamorous University of Nigeria can hardly boast of good infrastructure. From the crabbiness of Eni Njoku hostel, Alvan Ikoku Hostel, Kwame Nkrumah Hostel through the wretchedly pose of some uncompleted buildings in the university, UNN first-time visitors are usually taken aback at the poor state of her infrastructure with wide-mouthed disbelief. The above are few out of many damaging top disappointments visitors are faced with in UNN. You can add your using the comment space below. credit:unnobzava.com |

Postgraduate studies in Nigeria is such that many wish to be gainfully employed before enrolling into it. As such while many defy unemployment to enroll, others wait till they gain employment before enrolling. This situation has left two kinds of postgraduate students in Nigerian Universities. The first type of Postgraduate students are those with employment and the second, postgraduate students without employment. Of course the difference between the two groups are glaring. However, they need a symbiotic relationship to thrive in their programmes and the need for this relationship is becoming ever pressing. Many people have called me to know how possible it is for one to run a Postgraduate programme in UNN combining work and study. Similarly, another handful of UNN postgraduate applicants have called, demanding to know the possibility of running their postgraduate programme from a distance(Visiting school, twice a week, once a week or 5 times in a month). From my experience, as a postgraduate student, I have learnt and come to believe that even if one is working is such places like Abuja, Kogi, Lagos, Taraba, Rivers, e.t.c, one can still enroll the postgraduate programme in UNN. Below are the few nuggets I gathered on how to run your postgraduate programme from a distance in UNN. Be in good terms with your Supervisor: This is very important. If you intend to be visiting once a week, twice a month etc, you must make sure you don’t leave anything to chance in your supervisor-student relationship. What do I mean here? Your first point of contact with your supervisor should be such that a positive impression will be created. Use your first contact with him to judge his/her personality. Ask questions about this supervisor and gather as much information about him/her as possible. Know your Class Rep and draw him/her close: As a visiting student, your class rep is the most important element in your class. Make no mistake about this. To have his back, you need to draw close to him. You need to have some level of influence over him/her and you can’t do this with an empty pocket. From experience, I have learnt that lecturers dance to 80 percent of the permutations in class scheduling. The summary is that you have to earn his loyalty and trust. And you don’t do this with an empty pocket, an empty hand. He has to be constantly mobilized. Meet and exchange contacts with fellow visiting Students. The earlier you meet with your fellow visiting students, the better for you. This is to enable you guys to form a block in the class, a block capable of asserting their views in the classroom. For instance in my class, we have about 5 students who, because of work do not attend classes regularly but they constitute a strong block in our class to the extent that we can’t even make decision in the class without seeking their opinion. Power of unitary voice! Let your Absence be limited to classes: What do I mean here? Your Excuses for not coming to class can be admissible but do not take this to your seminar presentation and exams. The good thing about seminars is that they do not come up all the time. Some times, it comes one a month or even twice a month or much less. As for exams, they are fixed, most times by the students. So try to be as influential as possible and you would be glad you did. Why You Should Do your Postgraduate Programme in UNN (1) The University of Nigeria is one of the foremost Universities in Nigeria. Founded in 1960, it is the first indigenous University in the country. In this articles, I have not come to bug the reader with the glorious achievements of UNN. Not at all. I want to look at why you should consider running your postgraduate programme in UNN. Let’s look them. The stress free application process: As far as one knows what he/she is doing regarding the UNN postgraduate application process, it’s very easy to apply. Unlike some other Universities, that experiences intermittent server breakdowns on their postgraduate portal, UNN experiences less or none of that in their application. The interesting thing here is that one can apply and submit his/her form before bringing his/her transcript to the University. Method of payment: The methods of payment in the University of Nigeria is becoming wholly online. This has drastically reduce the incidence of theft which was hitherto ravaging the institution. At the comfort of your home, you can run the application, pay your acceptance and school fees. A huge Repository Library: Postgraduate Programme is all about Research and UNN has in abundance, research projects which you can access from the comfort of your home. The University of Nigeria Repository represents a concise and coordinated warehouse of intellectual resource, books, journals, research materials, academic volumes, and manuscripts. With this in place, your chances of finishing your thesis or dissertation on time is very high. Cheaper cost of Running: The cost of running a postgraduate programme in UNN is relatively cheap. Not only that it is relatively cheap, one can also pay in parts. So many other universities in the country does not allow that and some not-too-buoyant-enough students find it difficult to cope with. Considering the economic condition in the country and the joblessness looking fixedly on the faces of many postgraduate students in the Nigeria, University of Nigeria, is the best bait. Consequently, a lot of care is taken, lots of advice and consultations are sought before one attempts to pick the form. The question therefore is: whose advice should one go for when one intends to purchase a postgraduate form in UNN? As a matter of fact, there is no designated person to meet as regards making the right choices in your UNN PG Application if you know exactly the hows’. However, for some people who are not knowledgeable about what they want in terms of courses and and requirements, you can make your consultations using two or more of these offices. 1 The Admissions Officer. The University of Nigeria, Nsukka School of Postgraduate Studies has one Admissions Officer. She/He is better positioned to tell you directly that the department will accept your application or do otherwise to it. It’s not too difficulty to meet any departmental HOD. We gathered yesterday, that some female students of the University of Nigeria clashed with some male postgraduate students. According to an eye witness, the embarrassing clash happened around 5 p.m yesterday. see the pictures in www.unnobzava.com The whole theatrics started when the Postgraduate Students who usually make use of the little pitch in Kwameh Nkrumah Hostel (female hostel) went there to play football. Unfortunately for the guys numbering about 20, the girls started howling at them, throwing food remnants into the pitch to register their vexation. But, in total defiance, the PG Students continued their game without giving a hoot. When the girls saw that the method was not yielding any result, they started pouring water (all forms of liquid waste into the pitch. but to their utter chagrin, the PG students defied the move. It then became apparent to them that if a crazier form of protest was not applied, their call will not be heeded. Some minutes later, some group of girls were seen turning yellowish water into one big bucket. As this was going on, the PG Students readied themselves to leave the pitch. You can call that maturity. But it was already too late as the girls mounted a sort of blockade on the exit. This delayed the PG students and then came flying, the yellowish water. No one needed a soothsayer to know where that colored water came from. The smell said everything. As though the heart-rending move was not enough, some of the girls started throwing pebbles at the PG Students. At the point, most of the Postgraduate Students were already outside the Nkrumah Hostel, heading to the PG hall. But this didn’t deter the girls. They came after the fleeing PG Students, throwing tantrums at them, waving their brooms in the air; chanting some moral-boosting songs. The damage was complete, the embarrassment, irredeemable! The remote causes of the clash. According to some of the female students we interviewed around 8 p.m yesterday, they claimed that the PG students, especially the guys regarded them with god-like posturing. They also alleged that during the period they were given the leverage to fetch water from the postgraduate hall due to water scarcity, some of the guys harassed them with words. According to one Favour, “they called us ashawo because they didn’t like what we wore to their hostel. We kept mum because all we wanted was water.” Chinaza had this to say. “those guys deserved what they got. I stopped respecting the PG guys the day one of them told me rudely that my bump short was too short only for him to start asking for my phone number afterwards. They come to our reading room, pose as lords and we don’t talk because they are our elders. But when we visit their hostel, they jump out, casting intimidating eyes on us as though we stole their cows. Some of us even go to cook for them but it’s as if they can’t live without trying to intimidate us.” From their responses, we gathered that they have been waiting to vent their anger. And they got the opportunity. The immediate causes of the clash From our investigations, we learnt that the Kwameh Nkrumah Hall Governor (under graduate hostel) confronted the Postgraduate Hall Governor some days back in the market. They hard a heated exchange (words). The Nkrumah Hall Governor in the course of the altercation demanded to know why her students (undergraduate) should not be allowed to fetch water from the PG hall. We learnt that the Postgraduate Hall governor did not take this lightly. Consequently, the PG hall governor, on Sunday, began to seize some buckets from the undergraduate students who came to fetch water from the PG hall. In the course of doing this, he reminded them that he had warned them to stop fetching water from the PG hall. The girls, we learnt, reported this to their hall governor and the battle line was drawn. On Sunday night, the undergraduate girls agreed to retaliate in an unprecedented fashion. And that they did yesterday with blithe abandon. They did carry out their threat to the letter. We wish to use this plartform to plead with the Dean, Students Affairs to wade into this matter before it leaves a gory stigma in the heads of the students. We advise that both the undergraduate and postgraduate hall governor be invited for reconciliation. credit: www.unnobzava.com |

It’s becoming apparent that job interviews in Nigeria these days have turned into a comical display. From Enugu State Teaching Job interview (English Language) where a young man was asked to chronicle the history of his traditional leaders to Lagos, where another man was asked to frog jump 50 times to test his agility, the spate of humors job interviews produce in the country is getting out of hand. According to one Louisa Onah, a graduate of Enugu State University of Science and Technology, she went for a graduate intern job interview in Port-harcourt last week. There were about 50 people who came for the same mission but she managed to scale through the oral question phase. When about 20 of them were asked to wait outside for briefing, they thought their dreams have materialized. Check out why this lady ABANDONED A RECENT JOB INTERVIEW in Portharcourt. We walked down the office hall then swerved left into his office. He offered me a seat. At first, I refused but he smiled me into the seat. He began by asking me my position in the family. I was stunned by the question but I had to keep a straight face at the question. When I answered that he drew a heavy breath and let out the thunder bolt. He said that actually, their company is a young one and that they do not intend to take more than one person. And being a newly birthed company, they will place my salary at 15k a month. As he mentioned 15k, I recalled how I bought 1.5k mb to fill their form online; how I contacted them with my airtime and how much I spent to transport myself from Nsukka to Portharcourt. The UNN postgraduate portal for 2017-18 school fees is now open for the newly admitted students. If you were offered admission in the 2017/2018 academic session, you are now expected to pay your acceptance and school fees. Just two weeks ago, the newly admitted students were only treated to the payment of the acceptance fee (25000). This left a sour taste in the faces of most people who wanted to pay their school fees as well. But some few hours ago, the UNN postgraduate portal for 2017-18 school fees was opened. The school fees for the newly admitted students reads 90,400 for students in the Arts, Education, Social Sciences and other art related disciplines. While those in the sciences like Engineering, Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, and other science-related Faculties are to pay 95,400. For those who would like to stay in the UNN postgraduate hostel, you are advised to pay your school fees on time. If you pay on time, you stand a higher chance of living in the much sought-after Postgraduate hall. Be advised that you cannot stay in the hoste without evidence of payment of school fees, acceptance fees and accommodation fees. As for the old students, you are expected to chill as work is being done on the validation of the students' profile. If you would like us to help you in processing these fees, just like we've been doing for those who paid their acceptance fee through us, you can contact us at 08132677148 (Franklin) 08130963150 (Olise) and 08149380587 (Henry). Learning how to start up a lucrative Pig Farm with little capital can be very challenging but it’s possible and very lucrative even as a student. If I tell you that I started my own pig farm with just 150k, you will doubt it. But it’s as simple as that. This article is not meant to induce you to invest in pig farming with a mouthwatering promise that it will fetch you millions of naira within the shortest possible time. In other words, I don’t promote a business because I want my blog to be read. I do because it could be valuable to my priority target groups: students with unrelenting entrepreneurial spirit, the smart ones. To have your pig farm up and running, using the tips provided here requires patience, discipline and hard work. Mind you that these tips are meant for starters with low capital. To start up a lucrative Pig Farm with little capital, Read and Digest these nuggets 1:Forget about building a structure for your pigs yet. As a starter with little capital, starting your pig farm with building a structure for it will drain all your capital. This is a major mistake people make when they don’t have more than enough to start up a pig farm. Using the little money you have to build sub standard pen which will end up collapsing within a year will be your bane unless you have enough capital to get it to a desirable standard. The best thing to do is to look out for an already constructed pen available for leasing. The price per pen is between N500 naira to N1000 naira depending on your location. With this you can secure at least 5 pens at the cost of 2500 per month, so with N30, 000 you can secure 5 pens for one year. 2: Seek for professional advice. Do not just jump into buying pigs without knowing what to expect. I did this and I lost a huge amount of the little capital I had. Seek advice and make sure you are getting the advice from a professional, an expert in that area. Learn about the species, there trends and habits, proper handling of piglets and every other possible knowledge you will need for a start. 3:Read every piece of write up you come across about pig farming. Just like this one, most of the information one needs to excel in this business is all over the internet. Bring out your time to read them. knowledge is one of the most important things one needs to sustain and survive in any business. 4: Purchase good breed of pigs at the right price. I didn’t say “purchase goog breed” only but at the right price. Yes at the right price. As a beginner, tighten any holes through which money could be lost. There are many options for you to consider while purchasing the pigs so as to minimize cost within your budget. First is buying piglets and breeding them till they are matured enough for consumption or reproduction. With your little capital and shallow knowledge in pig farming, I won’t advise you to do this. The next option is buying a pregnant pig. This option might not really be the best so I advice you get the growers that will mature in a couple of weeks. You can budget N15000 naira to N20,000 naira for it. Get 3 or 4 of it with one male for easy crossing. 5:For feed, Start with palm kernel Chaff (PKC) tons to save cost Don’t imbine the idea of buying PKC in bags at the rate of N3000 naira when you can get a ton, that is 20 bags at the rate of N50,000 per ton, at the rate of 2500. Buy beans or bambara(okpa) chaff to mix with the PKC to add more nutrient to their meal. Again, manage their meal judiciously. Get food waste to supplement their feed and the PKC will last for you. With proper management of their feeding pattern, your farm will excel and you won’t spend much. If you follow these nuggets judiciously, I bet that within six to twelve months you should have 4 pregnant pigs which you can decide to sell at the rate of N30,000 to 50,000 naira each depending on their sizes or leave them to deliver in your farm. With this you will have enough pigs to sell and raise money to gradually start building a standard farm. If you need further clarifications on this, use the comment box below for that. Many funny things do happen during an interview but none has proven to be as hilarious as these funny interview questions I experienced. Sometime late last year, the Enugu State Government advertised for teaching positions in Enugu State. (Secondary Schools category). Spiritlessly, I applied to teach English Language. I went on to take the first exam and passed excellently. Later on, a circular mandating all the candidates who scored 50 and above to attend an interview was published on the PPSMB website. Of course I scored well above 50 so I was qualified. I must confess that this is not my first appearance before an interview panel. But the weird thing in this particular experience was the kind of questions I met. As an English Teacher applicant, one would expect questions from English Language. But none of those came. To get things started, I was asked my state of origin which I answered correctly. As a follow up, I was asked to mention the part of Enugu State I came from. It was when I provided answers to the above questions that the following funny interview questions came flowing with unchecked abandon. Who is the traditional ruler of your community: When this question came, I wasn’t sure it was meant for me. So I stared at space, cleared my throat then answered with stony eyes. I have been wondering what this question has got to do with my application to teach English Language? Seriously, is there any correlation between what I was asked and what I will be doing in the classroom if I landed the job? Who is the most prominent man in the history of your Village? I almost forgot how to talk when this one was thrown at me. While some people might argue that there is nothing wrong in asking such a question, I strongly disagree. I mean, how is this related to what I applied for? How does this kind of question ascertain my readiness to handle English language in school? How many villages do you have in your community? I was pissed off by this one in particular. I didn’t grow up in my village and couldn’t have known the number of villages in my community. Mention the parts of speech? For crying out loud, even a primary 3 pupil will get this question right. When it came, I smiled emptily then fired the response at them with that kind of was-this-meant-for-me look on my face. After this, they needed not be told that I was already fed up. Having sensed my annoyance, they smiled one after the other, then asked me to leave. credit: www.unnobzava.com |

The UNN PG admission list COULD be out any moment from next week. So to make the registration process easy, we have come up with “What to do Immediately You are Offered UNN PG Admission.” There was a sitting of top staff of the University concerning the admission list on Thursday last week and rumors have it that the school might publish the first badge of UNN PG admission list despite the ongoing NASU strike. But as it stands now, the UNN PG students are waiting for the activation of 2017/2018 portal. On the other hand, the PG applicants are no longer smiling as they wait, amid pounding hearts, for the first badge of the admission list. Whatever category you find yourself, the truth remains that the admission list will soon be released and the portal for the new session will be opened. For the new applicants waiting for the admission list, how to go about your registration processes is one thing that gets many people confused. And that will be discussed in details here. Step One: The first thing to do once your name makes the PG admission list is to copy down your application number. Also check if the course and programme type offered to you is exactly what you applied for. This step is very crucial as it affords you the opportunity to correct any mistake made on your application before you pay any dime to the school. Remember to gather the original copies of the credentials you submitted to the PG school during the application process because you will tender them before your faculty officer during registration. Step Two: Go to UNN portal and create a student profile. If you don’t know how to go about this, do not worry because we will help you do it. Step Three: After creating your student’s profile, the next thing to do is to generate an invoice for your acceptance fee. This is usually N25,000. If you have money for your school fees as well, generate the invoice for school fees. School fees is usually between (N90000–N100,000). However, it is subject to change. Step Four: Pay your acceptance fee first. If you have the school fees as well, you can pay the two. To make the payment easier, our services support and suggest making payments online. We shall help you with this when the time is ripe. The continuation of this will come your way tomorrow. Please this is to ensure brevity in our posts. The shorter the posts the easier to understand.
