Politics / Exposed: How Tinubu Is Sponsoring Obi by Okeydegeneral: 7:30pm On Aug 18, 2022
“An associate of the Chagourys revealed reasons behind the recent meeting between Tinubu and the Chagourys in France. At the meeting, “Tinubu concluded the plan on how to move money to fund Obi's campaign. They have already recruited many online influencers and Union leaders to continue to drum up support for Obi with a view to depleting Atiku and PDP votes in their traditional strongholds.”

According to the associate, “It is apparent that the only tower standing between Tinubu and his ascendancy to presidency is Atiku Abubakar, so, to ensure that Atiku doesn’t emerge victorious, he is working tirelessly, with the Chagourys to leverage on the third force rave of the moment (the obedients) to ensure that Atiku’s voting blocs especially the South-East and South-South are depleted.”

Our source also confirmed through Doyin Okupe, that Peter Obi received $6 million (six million dollars) in three tranches between June and July 2022 for the 2023 election campaign. “It was indeed part of the money he went to sign off during his trip to Egypt in June.” Said Okupe to our Source.
Text messages and calls to Mr. Peter Obi have not been answered. However, a call was placed to his close associate, Mr. Victor Umeh who hurriedly declined to comment on this issue and ended the call.

Also, documents sighted by our correspondents show that the Lagos State PDP gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor had to evacuate his campaign war room office from Eko Hotels And suites, because of the Bola Tinubu connection with the Chagourys who are the owners of the hotel. It is confirmed that Tinubu through Chagoury offered Jandor the sum of $15million to work against PDP in Lagos state in order to allow Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu an easy ride to victory and greatly diminish PDP votes for the presidential elections in 2023.”

Politics / Choosing A Running Mate: What Atiku Abubakar Needs Right Now by Okeydegeneral: 5:42am On Jun 06, 2022
By Ananyo James Eneh

Former Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, GCON, has won a well-deserved victory at the Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) Presidential Primary of May 28, 2022. With this victory, he would be reprising his 2019 role as the PDP's presidential flagbearer in an election that promises to be as challenging as the 2015 election in which General Muhammdu Buhari (Rtd), on his fourth attempt at the presidency, defeated incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan.

There are undoubtedly several critical decisions Atiku Abubakar would have to take in the next few weeks, which could make or mar his chances at the election next year. One of those decisions is that of a running mate.

Former Vice President Abubakar must get this decision right by putting on the PDP ticket someone who would complement his strengths.

The most effective way to choose a Vice Presidential pick is by getting one who ticks several crucial boxes. 2023 is when the Southerners wished that power should return to the region. Leaders like former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Afenifere leader Pa Ayo Adebanjo, Ijaw leader Chief Edwin Clark, former secretary to the federal government Chief Olu Falae, and other foremost ethnic nationalists, political leaders, and political activists have zeroed in on the South East as the next region to take the presidency.

Prior to the eventful PDP presidential primary, several arguments were put forward by the camps of Atiku, Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwa, former President of the Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki, and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed. One of the arguments suggested that as a party out of power, the PDP could not afford to zone its presidential ticket but instead needed to be pragmatic about positioning the party to win. It appears that that argument won the day.

By choosing Atiku Abubakar, the PDP, has left a lot of dashed hopes and opened old wounds in the South, particularly the South East. The hurt on the street in the South is real. The former Vice President has positioned himself as a unifier in his campaigns. There is an urgent need for him to take bold steps toward healing those who feel shortchanged by his emergence in his party and the entire country.

The sentiments and emotional engagements with zoning as a factor for power rotation and power-sharing is a front-burner issue, particularly in this election cycle. There has been a strong call for power to shift to the South East, which has not served as President or vice president since the 4th Republic began in 1999.

Also, considering the PDP's Governor Bala Mohammed report on zoning, which earmarked the South East and the North East as the two zones which should be given priority as the zones to produce the next President. With Atiku Abubakar coming from the North East, it is only proper that the South East be given the Vice Presidential ticket.

A VeePee pick from the South-East would go a long way in showing the restive region that, indeed, Atiku Abubakar, the Northern politician with the most affinity for the South East, puts his money where his mouth is and that he truly cares about the giving the people of the South-East a sense of belonging.

The opponents to Atiku Abubakar's emergence has knocked his septuagenarian status as one of the reasons why the party should not pick him. His critics point to out-going President Muhammadu Buhari's ineffectual governance has been attributed to his old age. While, Atiku's supporters showcase the example of American President Joe Biden and some more senior world leaders as a counter-narrative. None of these arguments are faulty, but none of them are sufficient either.

Atiku would do well complementing him with a younger person who would bring in the needed youthfulness and zest for life to the ticket. The right VeePee pick should be in their early 50s and below to bring in this benefit properly. They should have a youthful appearance and energy that will energise the ticket and inspire younger voters and the youth demographic to the ticket.

This brings us to the second issue used to counter the age factor - the issue of competence, capacity, and credentials. An effective vice-presidential pick for Atiku Abubakar should be a sound technocrat with a good track record and evidence-based track record for performance. They should be a high performer with intimidating credentials and a clean, zero corruption record. His pick should be scandal-free, and to achieve this aim, it might be necessary to look away from the traditional political class and look into the business world or private sector.

Vice Presidential Atiku Abubakr is perceived as a seasoned government person and politician. He needs a complement who would attract the interest, capture the imagination, and win the business community's confidence.

Given the bright chances of the PDP to win and take power in 2023, the party must also plan like winners. Atiku Abubakar needs a running mate who would assist him in driving his ambitious plans for policy and economic turnaround.

The task before the PDP Presidential candidate is enormous to rescue, repair, and restore Nigeria, beginning with our battered economy. So therefore, the PDP need an experienced leader with knowledge in turnaround processes and management on its presidential ticket.

In consideration of the tough battle ahead to win the hearts and minds of Nigerians in what will be an epic battle for the soul of the country in the 2023 general election; and the atrocities and divisiveness of the out-going Muhammadu Buhari regime, the PDP and Atiku Abubakar must be properly positioned to win the upcoming election.

I strongly believe that my recommendations above will go a long way in simplifying the decision for Abubakar and the party, and picking a vice-presidential candidate who ticks all boxes would put the PDP ahead of the rest in the 2023 elections.

Politics / It's Obvious You're Anti-yorubas, Group Berates PDP Over Zoning Of Chairmanship by Okeydegeneral: 1:52pm On Oct 05, 2021
...warns political parties to be sensitive to Nigeria's multi-zonal nature.

A group of young professionals from the South Western part of Nigeria, the Oduduwa Young Professionals, has condemned what it termed hatred for the Yorubas by the People's Democratic Party, PDP.

Addressing its members and some journalists after a meeting on Sunday evening, the group's Publicity Secretary, Joshua Alade said the party should have been sensitive enough to know there is equity in its own constitution.

Alade in his words said " this matter is not only about PDP but all the political parties, but we must say that we are shocked and totally embarrassed that despite the obvious fact that it is only South West that is yet to produce its chairmanship, PDP Zoning Committee in plain sight had enough temerity to call the bluff of the entire Yoruba race and the pronounced equity in its party's constitution and zoned out the same position to the North."

The obviously furious spokesperson said "except the party, through its National Executive Committee will stop this coup its Ad-hoc Committee orchestrated against the Yorubas, our group and many others shall take the action as direct threat against our people and shall do everything within the law to protect our interest in 2023."

The PDP Zoning Committee had through its release zoned all positions currently occupied by Southerners to the North and all being held by the Northerners to the South.

Though the party's Zoning Committee's decision is not the official position of the party, as its recommendations are yet to be submitted to the NEC which set it up and have powers to deliberate, amend or ratify whatever the recommendations are.

"We are not unaware that the position taken by the Zoning Committee is not official yet but for it to have released its report without recourse to the NEC that set it up shows there is a sinister plan against the Yorubas in the party and we are right now passing a strong message to the party, that whatever arrangement that will not end with a South West chairmanship shall be viewed as a threat to the political rights of our people who are its members. So, it is left for the NEC to decide on the outcome of its own adhoc committee that has so much disrespected it, to ease the tension already created"; Alade said.

Reacting to the rumour that zoning the party chairmanship is in preparation to its zoning the presidential ticket to the South in 2023, the group said the chairmanship position is first a sure bet than a presidential ticket which will be thrown open to all southern zones and possibly might not be picked by someone from the Southwest. Alade in his own words countered that "what is ours should be given to us now, when we get to presidential issues, then the party can decide whatever will ease the current sufferings in the land."

He said "what if the ticket is eventually zoned to the north which has also laboured for the party but by fate only has only gotten two years nine months presidential representation out of the party's sixteen years of being in power unlike the southern part? So, we know what we are saying by saying that the chairmanship that in all parameters is now the turn of our brothers and sisters in PDP should be given to them."

The group also sent words to other political parties to play by the rules of their books in promoting and consolidating democracy in Nigeria and engender brotherhood through political inclusivity.

Politics / Re: In Awarding N3.6 Billion Contract To Own Firm, Bauchi Gov. Duplicates Purchases by Okeydegeneral: 5:35pm On Feb 26, 2020
Even the daftest of all Governors won't award any contract to his company, reason being that, it's the easiest way to invite EFCC to himself. If there are proven documents supporting this report to show the award of contract, publish it let's see else, its all lies lies and lies
wwwihy:
In awarding N3.6 billion contract to own firm, Bauchi Governor duplicates purchases

A N3.6 billion contract awarded to Adda Nigeria Limited to supply official vehicles to Bauchi government officials included vehicles already purchased and paid for by the government.

PREMIUM TIMES has investigated how the Bauchi governor, Bala Mohammed, awarded the contract to a company in which he is a director, in clear violation of federal code of conduct laws and the state’s procurement law.

In addition to being a director in the company, Adda Nigeria Limited is also being controlled by Mr Mohammed’s close ally, Abdullahi Yari.

In September, the governor approved the contract for the supply of 105 vehicles for top government officials, legislators and judges. Officials familiar with the deal and documents seen by PREMIUM TIMES indicate that the contract was actually awarded earlier than September.

The government did not fully account for how the 105 vehicles would be shared and who benefit from them.

A document obtained by PREMIUM TIMES show that under the contract the governor will get two Land Cruiser V8 jeep with a contract value of N49 million each.

The deputy governor will also get a Prado jeep V8 at N49 million.

For the secretary to the state government (SSG), a Prado jeep V6 valued at N39 million was ordered. In addition to the SAG, the party chairman, who holds no official government position was scheduled to receive a similar car.

A similar vehicle is also slated for use as “convoy lead car” and one other for use as “Convoy H.E’s guest”.

The bill of quantity also shows a purchase of 31 Prado jeep V6 for the 31 members of the state’s House of Assembly.

Twenty commissioners were also billed to get black Toyota Camry, without giving further specifics. Deputy chairman of the state’s ruling party, according to the document, will also get a similar vehicle.

Chevrolet 2018 vehicles were also ordered for 27 judges in the state, costing tax payers N1.02 billion.

DUBIOUS DUPLICATION
Evidence found by PREMIUM TIMES show that prior to the award of the procurement, the state government had bought at least four sets of the same vehicles.

Records of the state government’s contracts for 2019 obtained by this newspaper show at least four instances of the purchase of exotic vehicles between May and and September, 2019.

In the runoff to the handover, the outgoing government on May 9, 2019 issued contract for the supply of vehicles at the sum of N75,757,000 to Westwood Motors Limited. The purpose of the vehicles were not stated.

In a May 20 contract to the same company, the outgoing administration ordered for new vehicles for use of the incoming governor and his deputy. The vehicles cost N419,055,000.

On July 10, at the heat of crisis in the state’s House of Assembly, Mr Mohammed’s government awarded two contracts for the supply of vehicles for use of members of the state House of Assembly.

One of the contracts was awarded to Web-Mag Services Ltd at N238,300,000.

The other one, awarded Bagah International Limited at the cost of N75,870,000, was for the supply of Toyota Land Cruiser V8 and one 2018 Toyota Hilux van.

Adda Nigeria Limited was also awarded a separate contract in September of that year to supply two Toyota Camry V6 at the cost of N72,555,000.

Curiously, the N3.6 billion vehicle supply contract for Adda Nigeria Limited is omitted from the awarded contracts for the year.

A spokesperson of the governor, Mukhtar Gidado said he was unaware of the earlier purchase.

“You know I didn’t join the government from May (2019) so I wouldn’t know,” he told PREMIUM TIMES through telephone on Wednesday.

But a staff working at the Bauchi Government House who is not authorised to speak confirmed the delivery of the new vehicles for the governor, his deputy and a few officials immediately Mr Mohammed came to office.
