I created this thread so OPs who have bought this phone can share their good and experiences. I recently laid my hand on an OPPO phone after all the hype I’ve been seen on Big Brother and I must say that it is really different from what I am used to. As a sharp Naija boy, I love my specs and of course, my budget no too gallant like that. Anyhow, I ordered one of the mid-range OPPO phones from Jumia, A5s to be precise and here is my review:

Price 6/10
There were two options 3+32GB and 4+64GB at N54k and N69k. I definitely went for the bigger version. My storage and RAM are not up for negotiation. I wouldn’t say it is a cheap phone but for the quality, the price is quite okay.

Display 8/10
I really like the fact that the screen is big and the display resolution is not bad. A 720x1520 pixel on a 6.2-inch screen for the price is not bad at all. Especially when you realize that the screen is made from corning gorilla glass. The phone is rugged and big enough to enjoy my video games and Netflix. Also, the A5s has this special eye protection mode that prevents eye-aches when using the phone in the midnight.

Appearance & Design 7/10
I love the curves on this baby. The phone looks finer than the cost actually and there is no way I’m ever putting a pouch on it. It is surprisingly comfortable to hold in the hand even though it is rather on the big side and the sleekness can be spotted from afar. My only problem with it is that the body is made of some plastic-like material which is not bad but I just wished it came with a metallic body design. The phone is scratch proof and also very light, guess that is why OPPO used that material.

Camera 8/10
After seeing the N139k OPPO F11 Pro, I was thinking the camera on the OPPO A5s will be bad but truth is, it is not far off. It doesn’t have that rising camera though but the picture quality is actually very good. I personally have not seen any phone below 70k with a better camera than this OPPO A5s. It even takes pics in wide-angle mode.

Here are the specs in jargons: 13MP,f/2.2,AF + 2MP, f/2.4, depth sensor, with LED flash, HDR, panorama features!!!), selfie camera- (8MP, f/2.0 with HDR feature).

Battery Life and Performance 10/10
This phone’s battery is DOPE. Once I charge my A5s in the morning before leaving home, I don’t need to charge it all day until I come back. The battery is very big and also doesn’t drain fast at all. The 4230mAh battery lasts me over 24 hours even with heavy gaming and video calls.

Overall Rating 7.8/10
The phone doesn’t hang or get hot too. In fact, I always tell anyone that cares to listen that this OPPO is actually very good. Once I hold small bar, I’m upgrading to the F11 Pro. That phone is a beast

Where are my other OPPO A5s users, share your reviews and let’s relate.
On a low boss I could have said this phone is overhyped but mehn I have seen the phone and the look from afar is dope, sleek and trying out the camera left me in no doubts that it worth the price adding that it has a large battery capacity.
Anyways it's part of my budget on what my salary is going into in some weeks time. Trust me to share my own review and show you mine.

PhonesRe: OPPO Reviews Anyone? by okolojay: 11:49am On Mar 18, 2019
The first thing that strikes you about the Oppo A3s is its notched display, which is very interesting to see in the budget segment. The Oppo A3s brings a 6.2-inch HD+ display which has good brightness levels and shouldn't be a problem with the view under harsh sunlight.

Powering the Oppo A3s is a Snapdragon 450 chipset, which is the same chipset found inside the Redmi 5 and the Moto G6. It's a pretty decent processor that manages to handle basic day-to-day activities with ease and is also impressive in how it handles graphic intensive games.

The budget phone from Oppo follows the general industry trend and brings a dual camera setup on the back. This includes a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor that will come in handy for depth-of-field or bokeh shots.

I have enjoyed using the phone, so its a good buy from me.

Science/TechnologyMicrosoft: What Went Right Under Satya Nadella? by okolojay(op): 4:08pm On Feb 04, 2019
On Monday, it will be five years since Satya Nadella was announced as Microsoft's chief executive.
Since taking charge he has turned the tech firm's fortunes around, making it the most valuable company in the world for the first time since 2002.
Go on, admit it.
You thought Microsoft was so last century, didn't you? In the late 80s and 90s, the company's Windows operating system ruled the world.
Catching the wave
But where Bill Gates - chief executive from 1975 to 2000 - caught the wave of personal computing, so Steve Ballmer - 2000 to 2014 - failed to do likewise with mobiles.
Although the Surface tablet is a modest success, Microsoft's smartphones have flopped despite the firm paying more than 5.4bn euros ($6.2bn; £4.7bn) for Nokia's handset business. Apple's iPhone, and then Google's Android left Microsoft in the dust.

Satya Nadella was announced as Microsoft's chief executive on 4 February 2014
The company has undergone the same stages of evolution experienced by many successful tech names.
The nimble start-up with a new idea
The fast-growing one-to-watch that's changing the world, slaying the old guard in its path
The omniprescence we can't live without
The uncomfortably big monopoly that buys out or subdues its smaller rivals
The Evil Empire that has too much power, and knows too much
The unwieldy supertanker that can't change course fast enough to catch the next big wave

"Some of those waves we've missed, but we're nothing if not persistent," Steve Clayton tells me.
He's Microsoft's chief storyteller - and before I get too sniffy about his job title, I have to remember that's technically my job too on Click.
Part of the reason Mr Nadella was picked for the top job was his determination not to miss the next big wave - cloud computing.

"[Cloud is] the ability for us to have software anywhere on any device," says Mr Clayton.
Forget the company's ill-founded attempt to have its own brand of smartphones - the more devices on which it can run its now subscription-based Office suite, the more money it makes

Microsoft ended up writing off the cost of its Nokia takeover and sold off many of the related assets it had purchased under Steve Ballmer
And subscriptions make up nearly two-thirds of its revenue these days.
Couple that with Azure, its cloud computing platform and data centres, and you can start to understand why Microsoft's share price has tripled since Nadella took over.
In November 2018, it became the most valuable company on the planet for the first time since 2002, and has tussled with Amazon for the lead ever since.
During my day at Microsoft's Redmond HQ near Seattle, I'm reminded that the unwieldy supertanker of stage six doesn't have to vanish beneath that next wave.
Stage seven can either be a sinking of Titanic proportions or it can be a sinking into the background, becoming part of the infrastructure, and quietly, unostentatiously, allowing your confidence to grow.
"We don't want to be the cool company in the tech sector," Mr Nadella has previously said.
"We want to be the company that makes other people cool."
Sure the PR machine is in full swing here. But the numbers suggest Microsoft has a lot to crow about.
And with that stage-seven confidence, comes an acceptance that you can't win every battle; that you should welcome other's successes.
Embracing new ideas that don't have to originate within Microsoft, seems to be one of Mr Nadella's core principles.
And so the firm has embraced open source, and partnered with competitors, including its cloud services rival, Amazon.
Microsoft Office now runs on the iPad - and Mr Clayton uses an iPhone.
"Don't be a know-it-all, be a learn-it-all."
That's another Nadella quote for the bank.
"In 2014, we cancelled our company meeting where our leaders would tell employees what was important, in favour of having a hackathon that lets our employees tell our leaders what's important," recalls Jeff Ramos.
He is head of the Microsoft Garage, where employees with a bright idea can come and experiment, build, hack, and see if it has legs
