Earthbound: One lovely thing about this thread, no black people.
It shows we still have a type of sense more than our Caucasian counterparts. I've heard of dogs and cats inheriting fortunes but soon as I saw a fowl on this thread, I lost it.
Even if you no get relatives, are there no humans who are around you who deserve a change of destiny??

Car Talk › Re: The Origin Of 3-point Seat Belts by OKUCHI11(m): 10:35pm On Apr 01, 2018 |
AutoJoshNG: Are you curious as to who invented the seat belt used in all today's vehicles? The Swedish car manufacturer Volvo had begun seeking enhancements to seat belts since mid-twentieth century. At the beginning, the company experimented with a single strap over the belly but sadly, abdominal injuries were still unavoidable in high-speed collisions. More than that, Volvo's engineers also tried a diagonal chest restraint yet, it beheaded crash-test dummies.
Afterwards, the Swedish marque turned to Nils Bohlin – a 38-year-old engineer who had developed Saab aircraft company’s pilot ejector seats. Since passengers in cars want both safety and comfort, transferring aerospace tech to automobile would be a demanding task, according to Bohlin.
However, after a year of experimentation and research, he achieved a significant breakthrough - the most effective safety device ever – "the 3-Point Seat Belt" which includes one strap across the hips and another across the chest, each tied up at the same point. This kind of seat belt was so straightforward that driver and occupants were able to fasten with one hand. Volvo then made the new seat belt design patent open in the interest of safety and made it available to other car manufacturers for free.
About 60 years on after its invention in 1959, we cannot count exactly how many lives Nils' 3-Point Seat Belts have saved but we are certain it runs into millions of lives.
Have you ever been saved by the 3-point seat belt of your car? Tell us in the comment section.

emperormossad: #my2pence I see a lot of unmarried youths who ought to realise the truth. You don't need to accumulate a fortune to marry. Infact, the less you've the more realistic considering the present-day craze for materialistic possessions. Marriage ought to be a lifelong commitment. My advise to young men is to marry while they're still young. Be in love, settle down, use your youthful energy while you can to hustle and provide for your family. When you grow into mid/old age, your kids are out trying to start your own family which decreases the burden on you. Do your research and see how many 60 year Olds and 70 year Olds are still training their kids through school. It's alarming. For we men, get a woman who appreciates you for who you're, who's willing to do the 'dirty work' with you in order to have a settled family. Ladies, give the young men a chance. Not everyone means bad for you. Some of these men only need someone to believe in them, their dreams, their ambitions, their desires to love and be loved in return. That doesn't necessarily have to be measured by money at hand. We have so monetised our lives that everything is based on what the other person has at hand. Marriage doesn't have to be elaborate. The most important thing is what happens after the ceremony. Left to me, a court wedding coupled with a traditional marriage between me and my Beau is sufficient. The land recognizes it, God recognizes it. I don't need any religious wedding. Our parents give their blessings and life goes on. Forget the facade of the ceremony. Life after marriage is what really counts. Just a piece of my mind. exactly |
