Lawyer Ousainou Darboe, the main opposition leader in The Gambia has been released from prison on the orders of an appeals court after being jailed for 3 years for participating in an opposition demonstration.

The Lawyer’s release comes three days after his jailer, President Jammeh, lost in Gambia’s election.

Yahya Jammeh, Gambia's long-time ruler, has lost the presidential election to the opposition leader, according to the electoral commission.

Adama Barrow's victory in the tiny West African country brings an end to Jammeh's 22-year rule.

Jammeh, who came to power in 1994 as a 29-year-old army officer following a military coup, had won four previous polls.

Adama garnered 263,515 while Jammeh won 212,099 votes, Alieu Momar Njiehe, the electoral commission head, announced in the capital Banjul on Friday

It has been a celebration galore for the people of Mbaise resident in The Gambia as the Igbo Community Football Tournament side, Mbaise FC on Wednesday, lifted the Igbo Community Tournament Cup for the 2016 season, after beating Enugu FC 4-3 through penalty shootouts. This feat is coming after they won the 2010 maiden edition thereby wining it back-to-back.

Mbaise FC’s League title success earned them D25,000 while Enugu FC earned D15,000 for their second place position. See more photos below…
