Sequel to the closure between Senegal and The Gambia border, a press briefing was held at the Gambia Chamber of Commerce (GCCI) on Friday 26th of February 2016 at their head office to clarify the issues of the border closure. The chief executive officer of GCCI Mr Alieu Secka and his members expressed their concern over the situation as GCCI represent the voice of businesses in the Gambia.

The closing of the border is affecting business both large and small, including local traders. GCCI contacted the Dakar chamber of commerce, Ziguinchor chamber of commerce and TANGO in the Gambia but still nothing is clearly confirmed. Mr Alieu Secka and the president Mr. Mohammed Jagana visited the border between the Gambia and Senegal.

The Senegalese authorities decided to introduce processing of all the transit documentation in Dakar instead of at the border, which causes long delays at all the border posts. It can take up to seven days to get the authorization. Questions raised by different media houses like daily observer, foroyaa newspaper, eye-Africa TV , standard newspaper , point newspaper etc were answered by the Mr Aliu Secka.

The founder and chief executive officer of Platinum Entertainment Nigeria Limited has said that her organisation was poised to unifying Africa through pageantry.

Joseph Wowo, the Nigerian former chief justice of The Gambia who was convicted on charges of abuse of office, fraud, breach of trust, conspiracy to defeat justice, interference with witnesses, offenses relating judicial proceedings, giving false information and false assumption of authority has been pardoned and released by The President of The Gambia, Alhaji Dr. Yahya AJJ Jammeh Babili Mansa

He was among the Nine (9) prisoners pardoned by the Gambia President yesterday. The remaining eight people who were pardoned alongside Joseph Wowo and now reunited with their families are:

1. Seedou Bojang, ex- accountant of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, convicted for conspiracy, economic crime and stealing and was sentenced to eight years in jail;

2. Karamo Bojang the ex-deputy director of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, convicted for conspiracy, possession of fire arms, economic crimes and stealing and sentenced to eight years;

3. Ousman Sanneh, ex-commissioner of operations at the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, convicted for conspiracy, possession of fire arms, economic crimes and stealing and sentenced to eight years;

4. Mam Matarr Secka, ex-military officer convicted for corruption, abuse of office and seduction and sentenced to 10 years in jail;

5. Kuluteh Manneh, ex-military officer convicted for corruption, abuse of office and seduction and sentenced to 10 years in jail;

The horrific accident occurred between 6:30am and 7:10am this morning July 31st on the Lagos- Ibadan expressway. It involved multiple vehicles including trailers, tankers and passenger buses. Hundreds of migrants laid siege to the Channel Tunnel for the third night running last night, as they stormed fences and desperately tried to clamber on trains bound for Kent admitting: 'It's England or death'.

David Cameron today blamed the crisis at Calais on the 'swarm of people' crossing the Mediterranean who want to get to Britain and vowed to do 'everything we can' to stop people's holidays been disrupted by the chaos - but experts believe he must wrestle control from the French.

Senior MPs, backed by hauliers, said the British Army should be sent in to restore order because the French authorities had 'lost control' as the Calais illegal immigrant crisis escalated dramatically'.

The deepening crisis has led to 120 French riot police being called up to help the 250 uniformed officers already there but critics say that this is nowhere near enough and believe David Cameron must now send British troops.

Migrants are still easily breaching the 15 mile fence surrounding the Channel Tunnel and jumping on to moving high speed trains or trying to get in or under lorries queuing to get on trains. Outside others will try to clamber on to vehicles heading to the nearby ferry port.

Last night a gang of around 400 migrants stormed the Tunnel perimeter - taking the total to almost 4,000 who got on to the tracks since Monday night - and at least 150 are known to have made it to Britain.

Meanwhile there is mayhem on the British side of the Channel with thousands of lorries backed up in Kent queuing in Operation Stack. For 24 of the past 40 days, the coast-bound side of the M20 has been closed bringing misery to residents, businesses and holidaymakers.

Many Nigerians were turned back from the townhall meeting with President Buhari in the US after they failed to secure an invite to the event. The Nigerians who were angry at their inability to enter the venue for the meeting said they drove many miles only for them to be barred by security men.

It was a blissful day at the Evangelical Church of West Africa, Banjul on Sunday 19th July, 2015 as The Nigerian High Commissioner to The Gambia, Ambassador Esther John Audu held a thanksgiving service to thank God for all the successes she has achieved over the past six (6) years whilst in service and among them is being a great mother to thousands of Nigerians residing in The Gambia and the acquisition of permanent site for the Nigerian High Commission's office building and the staff quarters.

President Yahya Jammeh of the Gambia has used the 21st anniversary of the July 22nd to grant mass amnesty to political prisoners, murderers, rapists and drug dealers serving various jail terms in the country.

In his beautiful speech at the July 22nd Square in Banjul, He said the decision to grant the amnesty is based on the Islamic teachings of forgiveness and his firm believe in Allah and all those convicted of treason from 1994 to 2013 and are now on death row or serving life sentences are hereby pardoned,” he told a gathering of school children and supporters

Mr Jammeh added: “As from today, all those convicted of murder and have served ten years and above are hereby pardoned. All those who have been convicted of possession of cannabis especially young people except repeat offenders are hereby pardoned.

“Those convicted of trafficking cannabis and hard drugs such as cocaine and heroin and have served three years and above and five years and above respectively are hereby pardoned. People jailed for raping women aged 20 and above from 1994 to 2013 are also forgiven.”

Mr Jammeh said he is also granting amnesty to Gambians abroad, who are currently wanted for treason and other offences against his regime.

However, the president said his amnesty would not be extended to four people namely; a cannibal who murdered a woman on a farm, cut her body into pieces and ate part of her flesh; a man who killed his elderly wife and threatened to kill his children for opposing his decision to marry a second wife; and two Nigerian men, Michael Ifunaya Chukwubikem and Agbaeze Ugochukwu Stanley who brutally murdered a British expatriate, Ian Stoke, in May 2012 and people convicted of infanticide.
Mr Jammeh warned all the pardoned prisoners to abide by the law.

“The relatives of all those who are going to be pardoned must be warned that they must never be on the wrong side of the law for the next ten years otherwise there would be trouble,” he said. “Drugs, murder, rape are not going to be tolerated in this country.”

Fans of English club Leeds United fans were attacked by Eintracht Frankfurt hooligans after a friendly game on Tuesday, July 21 in Austria.

According to local police, supporters of Frankfurt started the fight which led to the injury of several persons.


According to reports, 100 Frankfurt supporters, some wearing balaclavas, confronted a group of Leeds fans on the pitch following the German club's 2-1 win.

Immediately the players left the pitch, a fight ensued between the rivals fans who exchanged kicks and punches.

Baton yielding Policemen stepped in to separate using dogs.

25 persons have been arrested according to reports and it is believed that 17 of those were Frankfurt fans.

Three Leeds supporters, two police officers and security staff required hospital treatment.

Millions of members of a website set up for cheating spouses are waiting to hear whether their infidelity will be exposed by hackers. The Ashley Madison website promises its 37million members worldwide - including 1.2million in the UK - complete 'anonymity' and has the motto: ‘Life is short. Have an affair.’

But a group calling themselves the 'Impact Team' have threatened to publish names, credit card details and 'secret sexual fantasies' of all members.

They believe the website wrecks marriages and have told owners they will start publishing intimate details about users unless the site, known as the 'Google of cheating', is shut down.

Impact Team say Ashley Madison members should not have anonymity because they are 'cheating dirtbags and deserve no such discretion.'

One British user, called Natalie, is one of the 1.2million scared her husband will discover her infidelity. She says that she started using the site during a 'rocky patch' in her marriage, but has not logged since 2011.

The cyber criminals have already published a small amount of the information online, and say they will continue divulging the secrets of Ashley Madison’s would-be adulterers until the service is closed for good.

The hackers have claimed that even cheaters who have paid Ashley Madison to delete their information from its files are at risk.

Ashley Madison believe the hacker may have been helped by an insider.

The anti-affair group said in a statement: 'Avid Life Media has been instructed to take Ashley Madison and Established Men offline permanently in all forms, or we will release all customer records, including profiles with all the customers' secret sexual fantasies and matching credit card transactions, real names and addresses, and employee documents and emails.'

The website charges members £12 for what it claims is a ‘full delete’. However, the hackers said this service was a ‘complete lie’.

‘Users almost always pay with credit card; their purchase details are not removed as promised, and include real name and address, which is of course the most important information the users want removed,’ they said.

It will be of note that the so-called Impact Team have billed themselves as MORAL HACKERS who want to expose infidelity and corruption in the WORLD.
